My father in law used to work on an offshore oil rig (up until about 2 years ago) and on their down time they fished. They were about 100 miles out and he was fishing from the lower platform about 25 feet off the waters surface. He caught a grouper this size I think he said about 200 pounds or so and it took him plus 5 or 6 other guys to get it reeked in and up to the platform. He had it processed and brought home and we ate on that thing for weeks. Delicious.
That’s worse than snapping a rod in half, he is reeling straight from the reel it’s self. That’s some good line and some serious grit from the guy to get that big boy in like that. Mad prop to you sir

His drag was set improperly. Caught a 6ft sturgeon on a surf cast rod. Took a while but brought it in. Still have the rod 20 years later
Goliath grouper pull much harder and will try to break you off in structure, so a heavy drag is required
