You guys should hear about a case here in Brazil where an “influencer”, did an online course on PHENOL PEEL towards the end of last year and was doing the procedure in her clinic where she pretended to be a graduated esthetician- even though the phenol peel can only be done legally in a safe surgical environment. And now the worst has happened, a young man d13d soon after the procedure, and she’s facing a hom1c1d3 accusation…

There is a lash supply company that has been viewed as reputable for a very long time now selling them, Temu/amazon etc aren’t the only problem. This company sells the lamp & kit with safety goggles for the lash tech. Surely that proves it’s not safe for eyes? But go ahead and use it on your clients’ eyes.. mind blowing

Also I’ll never understand why people want veneers so bad, veneers are essentially dentures for people that have beyond damaged teeth, but the people getting them have natural fine teeth but want them to be straighter, (obviously they’re getting them bc social media told them to) but why would you immediately jump to veneers as if invisline and braces don’t still exist, and they’re getting veneers from people with no licenses at that, now these people have permanently effed up teeth and probably have to pay a life time to get them fixed

Those hylaron pens they are using to fill Lips are so dangerous. I've never seen good results on anyone who had filler done with one of those pens. I looked into it years ago because it was like 50% cheaper than normal filler...thank God I didn't follow thru with it because I met an amazing nurse/esthetic trainer who gave me the most beautiful lips. I had no top lip and she had to be very precise and patient while filling them. I've seen her 4 times now and I'm beyond happy with my results. Please don't get filler with the Hylaron pen! I saw a video where they were even using it to do fat dissolving! (Bootleg kybella) I've seen some really scary reactions from that one too.

im 2 mins in and so far it looks like they are adapting gel nails for eyelash extensions... also my nail tech told me once that the heat and zapping people feel while curing the gel nails in a lamp is the rapid movement of molecules in the gel as they solidify or something like that and that i should take my hand out is it hurts, otherwise i can get a literal burn on my nail (idk the validity of that, never bothered to google and fact check the scientific explanation)

They've already proven that filler never fully goes away. They have done multiple MRI scans on people and they can see filler still visible years and years after they've been injected. We desperately need some kind of regulatory agency that can investigate and prosecute these DIY “techs.” Since these people have no license or regulatory agency they have to report to, it seems the only action victims can take is to file a lawsuit which rarely results in consequences because if the tech being sued has no money, the victim will never receive their restitution. These people deserve jail time yet the police and DA seem unable and/or unwilling to investigate/prosecute.

The ONLY way an Aesthetician can do injectables is if we apprentice under a Dermatologist or get our RN degree/license in addition to our license. Us standard Aestheticians only get 750 hours with limited Anatomy & Physiology of the face/body. More course hours and extensive medical training will be needed to be certified in that area. Ask for their certifications and go to the .gov site in your state to verify them.

Whether it be lashes, nails, facials.. anything! Real damage can be done and it can lead to lifelong issues that impact other treatments (for example 2-HEMA is not only used in Gel nail products, it’s also used in the medical fields which means if you develop an allergy to it, you may not be able to seek medical help if needed x) 😢

I absolutely loathe how whenever those "injector techs" are called out for performing life threatening procedures their come back is always something along the lines of "y'all just hate to see a woman being successful", "y'all just hating bc you hate so see a black woman winning" like no girl. Go girlboss however you want but don't put other peoples lives on the line for a 'successful' brand
Edit: over $1 million in medical dept what the actual fuck??? how is that legal?? the US is absolutely a third world country nay even a third world country has better medical care

This is so terrifying. Are medspas different from dermspas? Because I only go to dermspas. The place I get my facials at is connected to my dermatologist's office and has access to my records. I never got injectables and never will, but those are all done by registered nurses. Even for my hydrafacials my esthetician checked my records and made sure that accutane was out of my system. I wanted the lip perk hydrafacial and she would say no without hesitation if my lips looked like they had even the smallest amount of inflammation to them. Even when living in South Korea I only received facials from dermspas, connected to the doctors. I thought I was being safe but damn. I don't plan on switching to spas anytime soon but this is a good reminder to do extra research before picking a place. I can't imagine what these girls are dealing with. It's so heartbreaking and frustrating.

im sorry but putting a uv lamp up in my eye even if it is the "correct" type just doesnt seem safe either way. Its not like you can get new eyes if something goes wrong.

I work with uv leds for my job (for water disinfection) but uv really isn’t something to play with. We have to wear safety glasses, cover our skin, and last week someone still got a sunburn from testing. Let’s not play with that, especially not by the eyes

as a certified nail tech the whole "if its fine on your nails its fine on your eyes" stance is insane to me. its not even fine on your nails, exposure to UV light does increase the chance of skin cancer and every time UV gel touches your actual skin there's a risk of developing a permanent sensitivity to basically half the polymers used in your skincare, medical devices, clothes, just about everything. the only reason it's fine on your nails is that the nail plate is non-living tissue that doesn't absorb ingredients the same way living tissue like your skin does. NOT TRUE for your eyelids which is one of the places with the thinnest skin on your body, not to mention exposing your eyeballs to UV light? absolutely insane, you couldn't pay me to put myself through that

The UV zapping thing makes me wonder if it's safe. I mean as of right now I feel like I've always assumed so but what if we find out something later?? and all of us have just been getting our nails done and stuff like that.

UV is actually proven to be dangerous, it causes skin cancer, many people will have melanoma on their fingers in the future it's a bit like a tanning bed for your hands

I think I am past the point of caring, there is enough information out there to understand how dangerous this is. if people use their common sense they would understand that procedures like this can't be done safe at home or in a garage, and it costs money. I don't have too much empathy for the clients, you gambled and you lost, of course the perpetrators should be prosecuted but the clients aren't unsuspecting victims and shouldn't be treated as victims. I know I am heartless but I have only so much empathy. you have responsibilities, if you go to a clown to laser your eye and go blind... is it just the fault of the clown or did you make a wrong decision? yes the clown should be punished, but you shouldn't get money out of it.
This is not about the girl that went to a med spa, it's not weird to believe a professional med spa is safe and are safe

I'm sorry but I'm assuming as a licensed cosmetologist and lash tech (not practicing) but lash glue remover HURTS. I'm so worried about what the hell is in UV lash removal cream. I feel like this could be a safe method but..... lash extension glue is so far behind the times and so so so misused... anyone can become a lash tech and not have to have a cosmo license. Even a cosmo license doesn't teach you fully what to look for as far as ingredients to understand what is lash safe and what isn't
