Bill is a legend! In the late 80's I lived a few houses down from him and was getting into dirt bikes. I'd hover around his driveway, ride my bmx back and forth, waiting to see his vehicle in his driveway so I could knock on the door and ask his wife if he was home to come out and talk about dirt bikes with me. He'd come out and entertain my 80cc dreams with stories for 15 minutes all the time. Probably annoyed the heck out of him. What kind of adult these days would get home from work and deal with the neighbor kid like that. He got me my first set of tie downs and loading ramp and even took my brother and me with him to a race. What a cool and kind man. Bill will always be legend in my book!
These moto and behind the scenes legends have the best stories and are so great to listen to share their experiences and wisdom... This is a great thing you have going here Swap, imagine how many of these awesome stories majority of us never would have heard without this
I grew up in Bill’s back yard in Norco, racing dirt track. Bill was building 80 pipes fo me in the late 70s and did so all through my pro career. Seriously, Bill and Jeff are some of the most respected men in motorcycle racing. I still drop by and like to say hi.
Bill is a true pioneer in CPR for any gutless bike.stood the test of time. An absolute joy to pick that brain. I'd buy him lunch any day as he is my Decoster. Swole Props boys!
Great video. So cool to hear the stories and learn about how all this stuff came to be back in the day. I was never super into motocross but I do remember some of the factory Honda race bikes had Bill's pipes and never knew who bill was or what the story was. Thanks for making this video and preserving moto history for generations to come.
Swapmoto - by far the best interviewer in the sport . Hands down! I haven’t raced MX in years but am a massive fan today and follow both MX and SX religiously . Bill is one of the common denominators in performance upgrades for motocross and above that just a great human being. Not enough Bills in this world in my opinion. Great stories! 👍👍👍👍💯%
He is one of the few today I bet could rival a computers design and results with a pipe. He is a walking encyclopedia. And the best part is, self taught.
What was the main reason billspipe never commited to have a raceteam, i remember they were rockstar Suzuki for a little while, i always thought bills could have gone a similar route as mitch and prociruit. I would assume it was alot about financials? Perhaps time consuming aswell.

Bill is brilliant with his pipe building knowledge and skill. Best thing is that he is just a down to earth common personality. 👼👐
