From his last Monday gig at the Maple Leaf Bar, the Great James C. Booker III - Booker's Original Vamp followed by If you're lonely. Please have a look at my other videos: • Video
I went to Tulane from 80-83. As you may know, The Maple Leaf is very close to the campus, and it was a great place to go drink a cold Dixie, eat a muffaletta and do the wash- with the added bonus of having great Louisiana music at night. Saw Beausoleil there, Boozoo-so many great folks. From the first time I saw Booker (prolly spring '81 or so) I was hooked. Every Mon. til he died, that's where I was. After a while we even got acquainted and would hang out between sets. My "brush with greatness"
I lived in New Orleans for many years, unfortunately, I moved to New Orleans in 1989. I missed James Booker by a few years, but I would have loved to have seen him live....I'm sorry he lost his battle. Bless his heart.
This is my first listen , wow this is powerful stuff. I `m hearing alot about his piano playing which is killer but his Voice is what strikes me the most . Greatness.
This artist shows his empathy well!
if i was stranded on an island and all i had was james booker music i would be one happy man
