2018 Janke Award: Dr. Oscar Curet

In December 2015, FAU’s Center for Environmental Studies received a $1 million gift from Dr. Walter and Lalita Janke to establish the Walter and Lalita Janke Innovations in Sustainability Science Research Fund. For the last 4 years, this fund has awarded $200,000 to FAU faculty research that advances knowledge and applications relevant for improving environmental sustainability.
The 2018 Janke award was given to Dr. Oscar Curet, associate professor in FAU’s Department of Ocean and Mechanical Engineering to establish the first step toward the creation of a Center that focuses in a new generation of Microgrids integrating solar, wind and ocean energy and coastal resiliency.
