Sharks don’t sleep in the traditional sense. They need to keep moving to stay alive. They can stay still for moments of deep rest, but they still have their eyes open, monitoring their surroundings.

The woman who's son died early on, died of covid. She was in her 90s. She was the head of the theater club or something along those lines in Martha's Vineyard where they filmed the movie. There were a lot of locals in this movie that were extras in some of them, like her got speaking parts. She was very sweet based on what everyone said. People would go visit Martha's Vineyard to film Videos at the locations that Jaws was filmed. And he would meet people and have lunch with them and tell them about the movie. She went into a restaurant one day and the kid that played her son in the movie, with the restaurant owner and they bumped into each other for the first time in like 30 years. Some interesting facts that differ from the movie, from the novel.
And that fact is that in the novel the reason Mayor Vaughn wanted to keep the beaches open is because the town of Amity was heavily indebt to the Mafia & Mayor Vaughn resigns to go into hiding from the Mafia who were admented to get there money back but couldn't because of the shark caused some setbacks.
Also the Chief's wife was having an affair with Matt Hooper who was different from the one that Richard Dreyfuss played, plus Matt Hooper dies in the novel.

Jaws was based on a real incident that occurred in New York in the 1800s , a tiger shark got into the river near a small town and killed a few people. @@rnw2739 They did the same thing with Mary Ann (Dawn Wells).
Hospitals get $77,000 per Covid-19 death, so they put it on the death certificate any way they can. In the past, they just called it pneumonia and said, that the person died of whatever comorbidity, that they had without worrying what cause the pneumonia. Throughout history, coronaviruses caused pneumonia in the elderly or otherwise vulnerable, but because there was no cure for a coronavirus, and often people were on their last leg anyway, so no one cared. Now, suddenly, they hype it constantly on the news to keep people frightened, so the government can keep people down from fright.
A coronavirus is a cold. Most colds are rhinoviruses, which are a simpler form of coronavirus, but between 15% & 40% of colds are coronaviruses. Covid-19, just happens to be the lasted version. It's not a flu; it's a cold. But, if they called it a cold, which it is, people wouldn't freak out, and the government couldn't take such unconstitutional control of their citizens.
A good thing to remember is; the average age of a Covid-19 death is older than average life expectancy. Covid-19/SARS2 isn't an additional virus. It's a replacement virus, and the fact, that the average age of death from Covid-19 is older than average, points to it maybe being less deadly than it's predecessor.

Interesting fact. In the original script, Hooper the biologist is killed by Jaws in the closing moments after he’s lowered down in a cage attempting to harpoon the shark.
While some incredible footage of a shark caught on top of the cage thrashing about to free itself was captured by the Taylors, Rizzo wasn’t in it at the time.
The footage was so powerful that Spielberg decided to use it, rewriting the script so that Hooper lived.
“A great white shark off the south coast of Australia rewrote our script,” said production executive Bill Gilmore.

The U.S.S Indianapolis story is kinda true but not that dark, because the sharks mostly fed on the men who were already dead. The rest is horror and moviehistory.

The ship was torpedoed by the Japanese submarine I-58, and sank in 12 minutes. Of 1,195 crewmen aboard, approximately 300 went down with the ship.
The remaining 890 faced exposure, dehydration, saltwater poisoning, and shark attacks while stranded in the open ocean with few lifeboats and almost no food or water.

I don't think Quint smashed the radio because he was that interested in getting the reward money or the glory of getting the shark. After he told the story about what happened with the Indianapolis and the experience of seeing all of his fellow sailors eaten by sharks, I think it became his life mission to kill sharks. He wasn't about to let that shark "best" him, so he was going to make sure he killed the shark, not someone else. Quint's character has a lot in common with the character Captain Ahab from the novel Moby Dick. Captain Ahab was obsessed with killing the white whale because the whale took his leg...Quint was obsessed with killing the white shark, because it represents to him all of the sharks that killed the men from the Indianapolis. For Quint, it's more about revenge than money or glory.

I don't even know your names but the lady on the right is just a joy to watch, you get so excited and engrossed in the movie like you're a wee girl again, shouting at the screen is so cute. The lady on the left is cool and calm and taking the whole movie in with now and then saying little snippets of what you're watch and letting the other 2 know whats happening in the film (you're wee jumps at the jump scares are funny) and the man in the middle, well as the movie went on we could see you slowly getting completely enthralled by it and can see you completely enjoying it. :)
When Spielberg was making the film, he wanted more of the shark to be shown, especially earlier on in the film but the mechanical shark kept breaking down so he couldn't film what he wanted but by showing less of the shark in the film it made it more suspenseful and why Jaws become the first Blockbuster film.

Sorry for another post but I keep seeing more that I want to say. To answer her question its NOT bigger than the boat. Shark was 25. Ship was around 50. And they would drown the shark by leading him into the shallows. If they get enough barrels in him, he will not be able to keep water flowing over his gills which essentially drowns them.
The poison bullets comment is HILARIOUS because they TRY that in the second. the scene in the cave where you see a real great white and then the fake one and then a real one, the real one was actually smaller than it looked they use a small cage with a little person inside and the Sharks legitimately got tangled in the wiring for the cage in real life. And that's how they got that footage of it tossing and turning and freaking out. Luckily the little person was not inside the cage at that time. However, Cooper the scientist was supposed to die in the movie but because the footage that they got was so amazing and there was no one in the cage, they made it so he lived instead. I did a TH-cam video on my buddies channel for not only this movie but scream as well. I'm filled with fun facts about these movies. I can watch the movie until you pretty much a fun fact about every scene. Which apparently gets annoying haha but I love seeing people watch Movies like this for the first time because I remember the first time I watched it when I was seven. I'm 29 now. One of my first dates with my most recent ex-girlfriend, we lived in Florida, and they had this movie playing at a restaurant right on the beach, so I was sitting in a floaty, in the ocean, at night time, watching this movie from the water. It was so much fun. Btw the music leading up to the shark blowing up, watch that scene again on mute and then with sound and appreciate the AMAZING music.

I keep forgetting I'm 60 years old; I just assume everyone has seen blockbusters like Jaws. I saw this at the shore when it opened in theaters and went crabbing and swimming in the bay the next day which made this movie special for me. Watching your reactions to this movie is like experiencing the movie through new eyes. The part with Chrissy Watkins dying in the beginning of the movie is that she was calling out for God's help and he wasn't there to help her. It really brings home how we're all animals and part of the food chain. Just one more anecdote: I saw this with my mother after we both read the novel (recommended because it is different in many ways) and I was scared to see the remains of the girl swimmer as it was a lot more graphic in the novel so I relaxed after seeing the hand covered in crabs. That calm was broken when the entire theater leaped out of seats when Ben's head popped into view through the hole in his boat. THAT wasn't in the novel.

    • @bighuge1060
      @bighuge1060 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Great music throughout this movie, too. But back to the novel, the mayor's wife suffered a bad illness where the mayor had to borrow movie from the mafia and he needed the beaches open to create revenue. One of the criminals killed Brody's cat in front of Brody's youngest son with a message for his father to reopen the beaches. Also, Hooper wasn't that nice a person in the novel and was pulled out of the cage by the shark, his innards crushed in the shark's mouth and it stuck its head above water with Hooper still in its mouth (and one of Brody's shots at the shark hit Hooper's body). Even Quint died differently, Brody was an islander instead of a NYC transplanted cop and the newspaper man Meadows had a much larger role. Seriously, if you can grab a copy of the paperback or listen to the audiobook, it's worth the time.

In the book, the Mayor is being blackmailed and threatened by the mob to keep the town open which is why he refuses to shut down the beach. It makes more sense when you know that, but they changed it for the movie. Brody's wife also has an affair with Hooper. The book is really good but the movie is far scarier. Sharks have to keep moving. They "breath" by moving so water always flows into their gills. He was going to drown him in shallow water because the shark would get stranded on the bottom and be unable to swim. Without swimming, a shark will die. They also can't shoot it because between the water and the thickness of the sharks skin and layer of fat, a bullet wouldn't penetrate far enough to kill, which is why Hooper tells Quint to not waste his time trying. Fun film fact: Robert Shaw ( Quint) was drunk on set the entire time. He also rewrote the monologue about the USS Indianapolis. ( this was a real US Navy ship and everything but the shark story is true) He delivered his lines drunk as a skunk. The rumor is the he and Dryfus ( Hooper) hated each other and did not get along. I wouldn't be able to watch a movie with the girl on the end, but watching her reactions is hilarious. My family went to the lake when this film came out and my mom, dad, aunts and uncles were wading in the lake when my mom said " I think something just bit me ( she thinks it was a turtle) ". She said as she said that, everyone including my dad rushed back to the beach leaving her there in the water lol. She was pissed.

Absolute masterpiece of cinema, two cool facts about the production 1. It was Spielberg who pulled the girl underwater for that last tug under the ocean, he wanted it a very specific way and she was in fact being pulled between two ropes from the crew on the shore but it was Steven who pulled her underwater while she was saying ‘oh god please no’ and 2. He felt that he could get one more scare but Universal refused to give any more cash to the production so he used $250,000 of his own cash to film what would become the head in the boat scene, it was filmed in the editors pool (Verna Fields was her name) and they used a mould of the actor who played the dude who said ‘they’d with their fathers had never met their mothers’ the same dude who said to Richard Dreyfuss ‘hello young fella how are ya?’, the entire production was a disaster and for 7 months the entire team was stuck on the island, Spielberg began to suffer from cabin fever (as did the majority of them) and even for years after suffered nightmares from the production, nobody back in Hollywood believed it would be a success and also believed it would completely tank Universal Studios but as we all know they were proved completely wrong and it became THE first blockbuster

The scariest PG-rated movie I’ve ever seen. ‘Jaws’ is still the BEST among the film franchise.

Fun fact: in The Novel of Jaws the shark is a horror movie villain between Michael Myers and Carnage a killer shark with no motive and mercy and emotions and killing humans and beach goers and nearly eaten Roy Schneider character and the book is Rated R version of scary movies like Michael Crichton Jurassic Park and I need to buy the jaws novel and Jurassic Park boom from book stores or some stores and oh Tbh a warning to y'all this make u cringe and never sleep again
    In Jurassic park novel
    1. Compys nearly killed a baby and left for dead
    2. Nedry gets eaten alive and his organs pulled from his stomach and devoured horribly and head bitten off by Dilophosaurus
    3. Dr Wu- eaten mauled by Velicoraptor
    4. Injured Jurassic Park worker- mauled and eaten by Velociraptor
    5. John Arnold- eaten by Velociraptor
    6. John Hammond- eaten alive by Compys
    7. Ed Regis- eaten by Juvenile Tyrannosaurus Rex
    8.Diego - Eaten by a Carnotaurus.
9.George Baselton - Torn apart by a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
10.Howard King - Eaten by Velociraptors.
11.Eddie Carr - Killed by Velociraptors.
12.Dr. Lewis Dodgson - Eaten alive by infant Tyrannosaurus Rexes after the mother Tyrannosaurus Rex dropped him into her nest
Yep I ain't going to Jurassic park or world to get mauled eaten alive by dinosaurs nah I'm good I rather work as an employee working on computers and closed the park and locked dinosaurs in cages 👀👀👀

29:47 Yep. The shark doesn't want those little fish. They are "chumming"; putting blood and fish in the water to attract the shark.

38:38 "Why would you do that?" Quint was on the U.S.S. Indianapolis, so for him it's personal; he doesn't want to go back in, or get any help. He wants to kill the shark and kill it using his boat.

that part at 46,19 where the shark is twisting in the ropes, that is a real shark doing that. They used that film from a real shark encounter

33:05 - they could radio the Coast Guard for a bigger boat. That's why Quint destroyed the radio. He wanted to kill the shark himself.
