Lou Rawls, from Chicago, IL. was first a Gospel singer and then moved to secular recordings. He spanned the soul music era and continued making hits through the Disco era and beyond. He was one of the few Black American's to headline in Las Vegas during the hey day of casinos such as The Sands, The Desert Inn, The Stardust and the Riviera. He partnered with Anheuser-Busch Breweries to raise money for the United Negro College Fund. UNCF's telethon, “The Lou Rawls Parade of Stars,” went on to raise more than $200 million for UNCF from 1980-2006.

Every year, Lou Rawls used to have a telethon for the United Negro College Fund. Jerry Lewis did one for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. There is a song called "Let's Clean Up The Ghetto" with Lou Rawls, The O' Jays, Dee Dee Sharp, Billy Paul, Teddy Pendergrass, & Archie Bell. They went under the name Philadelphia International All Stars. Lou is also the 2nd voice on Sam Cooke's "Bring It On Home To Me". Sam & Lou started out in gospel groups.
