Thanks for the tips. I’m experimenting with different setups, I’ll definitely try nordic skates with downhill ski boots. I have a boot strap binding which in principle takes downhill boots.
Glad you liked it. I'm currently looking at a pair of hockey skates where you can easily change the blades. Then you could have 2 or 3 sets of blades which are tuned to different wind/ice conditions. The hockey skate boot gives a pretty good alpine feeling but is much lighter than alpine boots. You are also a bit higher over the ice than with nordic skates which lets you angle the blade better without having to build height into the nordic skate setup. Just some of my most recent thinking on this subject.
