If you use a larger bowl to mix your powder in, it'll decrease the amount of time you need to stir and it'll reduce the lumps. Claire's Crafty Corner has lots of videos on eco pours and she gives you pointers on all kinds of cool things to do with it. They're still adorable. It's a major learning curve from traditional resin.
Steve McDonald also. He uses a large pot to stir it for that reason. It does have the consistency of plaster. And Steve also uses spray sealer on his too.
AMEN TO THAT!
If only I had time to watch tv 😑
@@glitznglitterbymichelle1 Understandable, for sure.
I've also seen them sift the powder into the water instead of dumping the water into the powder. Makes it easier to stir.
A few things. It stirs better in a bowl. And it does better if you add the powder to the water.
No, you don't need gloves. Some people swear you need a respirator because it's a powder. But it's called an eco resin for a reason.
You only have about 5 minutes to 8 minutes max to mix, color, and pour. Adding water isn't going to give you more time.
I honestly think you need the JDiction 25-minute work time.
When you have too much water, the water is either going to separate and come out of the bottom of the mold, or it will just not cure.
Eco resin doesn't grab stuff like resin does. You do better to add designs after it cures. So make the coasters then stencil them.
With eco resin, you don't have to worry about sweating. Jesmonite sweats, but it has a liquid catalyst instead of using water.
When you have too much eco resin made, don't panic. Grab a silicone mat, color the eco resin, marble it, whatever. Then dump it on the mat and spread it very thin. Once it cures, break it up....now you have more terrazzo chips.
If by chance you break a piece pulling from a mold. Just like a ceramic, glue it back together.
Eco resin can take more water, but not that much.
When using the calculator I sent you, you are already adding a little more water.
That's all I can think of right now.
Please go hunt a few videos of people using eco resin.
Paint might cover the spots on the coasters. You can also paint with eco resin. Mix a very tiny amount and brush it on thinly. Let it cure.
Maybe next time, do a private live with me and you. I'll help you. We will call it a collab, and then you can edit and post it.
Ok, I think that's really it.
If only you were in my neighborhood 😁😁
@@glitznglitterbymichelle1 I wish I could afford it, I'd move in a heartbeat.
Claire's Crafty Corner....she suggests using a sieve and a small whisk when mixing the powder and water.
I was about to say the same thing !
Claire also mixes in a large bowl
Claires crafty corner does alot of experimenying with casting powder
I would try slowly adding the powder to the water and stirring it after a little bit each time. Kind of like an a recipe when you’re slowly adding flour.😊
Hey Michelle when I watch Claire she always mixes her powder in a bowl. So when i made it I’ve done the same and it works
You have 30 seconds to mix then pour. Mixing any longer causes it to get thick because it starts to cure just that fast. I tried to warn you on FB when I posted the pics of the shells and trays i poured but you didnt believe me😂😂😂 and the best way ive found for coloring it is to color the water with mica powder before adding it to the resin powder❤
😑😑
Hi...the larger bowl comment is a definite must....and honestly..I've found that adding the powder slowly gives you a much better mix and consistency with no lumps at all. That has been my experience Michelle 😊
You still did well we have learn the process is not easy at time but you press through proud of you michelle
You're so cute! Thank you for allowing us to see your experiments.
You are so welcome!🤗
Make sure you sift the powder before adding the water to help prevent clumps. Also use a bigger bowl and a whisk. Trust the process. Love the ideas.
Great job on the unicorn and dont beat yourself up always a next time love watching your videos 👍👍👍
Hi Michelle, i just got your beach bag and omg you really put did yourself, i absolutely love everything❤❤❤thank you so much for everything you do for us. Your the best. Love your videos❤❤
It's suppose to say, you really out did yourself. Lol❤
@@jeanneanderson979it really was an awesome bag! I love how everything was coordinated… can’t wait to do stuff with it!
You are so welcome!🤗
Lol! It's all about the Elk and Unicorn!
Love the unicorn ❤
❤❤❤❤ the elk and unicorn. And I think the antlers are perfect…never ever seen an antlered animal have the same color as the body or be perfectly symmetrical 😬 (ie the bubbles are OK!) Please don’t be discouraged with the casting powder/eco-pour. It doesn’t act like resin-as you’re finding out!! It takes practice and it’s very doubtful any of us expect perfection every video…you’re keeping it real and allowing us to see what could…and does…go wrong. 😊
Happy to entertain 😁😁
You show great resilience with this product Michelle, good on ya. The little animals are adorable, the 🦄 is super cute. Like others have suggested pop over to see Claire’s Crafty Corner and Steve MacDonald for fantastic tips. Well done girly 😊
They are ace. Claire's crafty corner is definitely a channel to watch. She uses silk screens a lot to get beautiful results with eco pour
If only I had time to watch tv 😑
👋🇨🇦 … just remember your first projects with resin! Keep going, we know you will discover. No need to be perfect, the first tries. ❤️
I kill it on the next try! 😁
Such a fun video, I know you'll get it figured out!!
I picked up a mixing bowl and whisk from dollar tree for my ecos. Also adding powder to water will make mixing easier in my opinion. Also, instead of additional molds for extra mix, I keep a silicone mat close by to pour on and make terrazzo chips
Watch Claire’s Crafty Corner. She used this stuff all the time
Bless your heart. I had a bad first try with ResinCrete. I LOVE the unicorn ❤❤
You cracked me up with the adding water! I learned I'll never try that, but a great save!😂🤣
😁
Michelle you are my favourite resin channel, I love that you put this out it made me smile also just a thought maybe use white paint to cover the marks then add clear resin with lots of sparkle 💙💜
Thank you ☺️
Lol, I love this. I am sitting here saying hurry lol an you keep adding water when there is a short time it gets stressful. Thanks for all the helpful tips. I love the well placed flower and bling all in all great job.
Love this
Michelle, I made the exact same mistakes by adding too much water. Consequently I found out my coasters were not level at all when I took them out of the molds, plus those awful air bubbles! Try working around a very thick kind of mixture, literally looking like pudding (sorry for metaphor) and stir slowly by adding water gradually. For the air bubbles, rub a little casting mixture over the surface when the coasters are completely dry (usually after 24 hours and I’m living on an island ). Sanding paper is a must when working with white cement or casting powder. Et voila!
Thanks for the tips!
I have those glazes and I love them!
Oh my goodness how cute are your two little animals. You are such a great person when it comes to saving your pour that don't work as planned. You always have such a positive attitude to. I love to learn from your videos. Thanks for showing us the do's and don't
Thank you so much!☺️
You need a small whisk to mix these plaster like products. I know how hard it is when you can feel clumps at the bottom… it reminds me of oobleck! It’s like the faster you stir, the harder it feels! But mix2mold sells these long skinny whisks and they’re awesome!
U should add the powder to the water slowly and it will work better that way and a quick works better too
The little guys are very cute. I would add the powder to the water instead. Maybe you can break up the coaster and add it to a bigger project. ❤
They are cypress knees. I enjoy your Vedic’s more than anyone else’s. I’m the lady who made porcelain dolls for many years. My name is Rose, but this comes up under my son’s name. I’m on his account. We are from Florida too. I did a lot of cameos out of porcelain and stoneware. And I make Native American and southwest style jewelry. I’ve recently started doing jewelry with resin. My son has been making coffee tables with the resin river running thru them. He gets lots of orders for them. That’s how I was introduced to resin. You mentioned dogs……we that’s me too. My husband and I were dog breeders for 50 years we mostly had Bichons and std poodles. I knew practically all the breeders in the south. We were NOT puppy mills, rather selective breeders. Anyway, I love what you’re doing. I feel like I know you personally. My hubby passed away 6 years ago and I am actively crafty 76 yr old. My name is Rose. Thanks for all your teaching.
Thanks Rose!! My one dog is 1/2 bichon!
@@glitznglitterbymichelle1 I thought she was. Is she a Teddybear. You are so sweet, Michelle.
Yep!! He’s a teddy bear 🧸
Claire’s Crafty Corner videos will help you ❤❤❤❤
❤❤😂 lol your so funny. The animals are so cute!
Thank you for keeping it real!!!! Good save!
Use a plastic or silicone bowl to mix it in, it will cut down on stirring time.
They turned out great. ❤❤
The two critters are very cute
Reach out to Clair, from Clair’s Crafty Corner. She works a lot with things like this.
Love the glaze!
Michelle, don't be to hard on yourself,it's all a learning process. Next time could you put the powder in the water a little at a time, stir it up ,add more powder, stir it up. Till it has all dissolved. Or even warm up your water don't get it hot you don't want to cook the powder. May.be you could try that. I think the little moose(elk) and unicorn turned out cute next time will be the thebcharm
I've only used resincrete and have not had a problem with it except for one time I used a syringe to pull the liguid up and then onto the mold. Yeah, I never stirred it so it ended up with it cured on the bottom of the container and not on the mold. So lesson learned there. You cannot take forever to piddle around with fussy molds for sure. Once I tried to do the project outside and the e=wind came up. Definitely don't try this outside if it's windy. It was literally blowing in the wind everywhere....
I have used the brea Reese mix to mold powder it works great
I like it all ❤❤❤❤❤
I love the blue elk and the unicorn is adorable. Maybe you could add a very thin layer with some terrazzo chips into the coasters??? Thanks for the video. 😍
I will definitely try that as soon as I get more powder!
Michelle I think they are all still adorable but I was thinking that maybe do a thin coat of resin with starrynight alcohol in it and might mask those little parts you do not like .Just keep on doing it you will get it.Practice makes perfect.Blessings to you both❤😃
I know what I would do with the pine knots! You could cut thin slices to lay into the resin with some foliage and do a kind of river table effect! Or use them to display your work?
Yeah mica powder and glitter don’t usually transfer on casting powder for me either. Also u can mix the mica with sealer and make a paint so u can paint the piece like that
You are so blessed you have a great attitude no matter what happens God has blessed you. I have never used this stuff before but my suggestion is either to use a bigger container to mix in or trying to pour the powder into the water, also I watched a video by Elizabeth Leigh Arts and she poured the powder into the water she said that she did it the way the instructions said the first time and had bubbles, anyway don't lose that attitude you remind me of what Jesus said I got you this is my way of saying it. Okay see ya next time, God bless
I have to binge watch I’ve been on vacation so I have missed about four
😁
Hey girl maybe you should use a mixing bowl for then that slender cup
Whenever I use this I add the water first and then the powder. Mixes easier.
Well the critters turned so very cute 🥰 I use mix Dragon fly glaze in my resin gives it just a little sparkle just a drop or two
Great idea!
Michelle , you had me laughing so hard. It is redemption, you made those two most adorable animals. Oh my gosh , what you did with that unicorn is stunning & amazing!! ❤ Steve McDonald uses that stuff a lot & he uses a large container for that very reason. It does have the consistency of plaster which is quite different then the resin , I am sure. And yes, he does the tapping & he also lifts it & drops it , ( not too high though) to make all the bubbles rise & he does his squiggy , wiggy to make sure the stuff is in the right places.. Steve uses that & ones like the unicorn & the moose and such & gets those little paint pots with a paint brish & sells them as paint your own kits. Very cute. Watching you trying to work with it , is why I fear trying to use that & the polyurethane resin. I am just learning to get the hang of resin & uv resin. But I applaud you for your perseverance & sharing the do's & don'ts . Bless your heart , Michelle! 🤗 OH and just for another tidbit. Steve uses 1 to 1 part white glue & water to seal, lets it dry & then uses either matte or gloss modge podge to finish. Never uses alcohol spray to get the bubbles out.
Thanks for the tips! I have no time to watch tv so I rely on my viewers to tell me tips 😁😁😁😁😁
@@glitznglitterbymichelle1 Happy to share. 😁 It's a help me , help you kinda thing. 😁
Much easier to mix if you add the powder to the water. :)
You can get self adhesive stencils. They are great.❤
The leftover can be used as a filler for large resin powder molds NOT THROUGH IT AWAY you can still use it.
Hopefully this will make you feel a bit better. Friend of ours tried the casting powder, called me crying because it came out just like yours. She threw it all in a box and brought it over here. It's been 2 or so weeks now that I've had it and I have yet to touch it. Now that I have watched several videos on it, I think I'm ready to give it a go. lol I know what not to do at least (I hope). I do love your lil Uni and the 'Moosey'. Thank you for sharing your 'ooppps' as well as your 'Oh yeah'. :)
Tonight’s video is better 😁
I just love the blue elk, with his blue eyes! And the unicorn is gorgeous too ❤ Well done!
You’re tenacity is amazing Michelle! You never give up! Love your channel! ❤
Thank you so much!!☺️
I think they turned outcool
With leftover you can use it for chips to add into another mold . Let them cure , break into pieces .
I feel so bad for you.I could hear the panic in your voice.Don't stress you can always try it again
😁😁
When you mix 1 to 3 ratios, think of it as 1/4 and 3/4. If you need to make a total of 10 oz., mix 2.5 ozs. of whatever the smaller amount is (water or powder) and 7.5 ozs of the water or powder. If it’s 1 to 2 parts, think thirds, 1 to 5 parts, think sixths, etc.
Waiting for redemption!
Call him Blue LoL...I know you'll get the hang of it. Tracey with miniscenes does a lot of eco pour and this is like that. Her's are usually very runny. I love the pearlescence paint on them. 💙🩵💙
I love the unicorn and moose. So cute! Good learning experience! Thank you! 🫎 🦄
You could always try adding a little alcohol to the mica and use as a paint x
So I added more water😂😂😂 OMG Michelle, stop adding water😂😂😂 No Michelle, don't pour the water into the powder......don't do it.....oh she did it😂😂😂 This was a great video for April Fools day😂 I really do like the way you saved the coasters before the glaze. That Unicorn is gorgeous and Mr Elk is cute❤❤ Great laughing with you Michelle, Thanks for showing us that everything is not always perfect and things will happen for us in their own time, not our time!!
Exactly!! I planned this for April fools day, yeah yeah….thats the story 😁😁🤨
Mix the power into the water,I love the unicorn and the elk they are super cute🦄🦌🩷
Okay this video has answered a question for me! Nope I don't want to try this stuff at all LOL. Thank You so much for sharing this video! You have a Blessed Day.
My next try is great!! I don’t give up that easy! 😁😁
You Lil babies are adorable
Thank you Michelle for the information on let’s resin I’m able to get some thanks again.
Use a much larger mixing bowl. Any leftover casting resin can be crumbled up and used as chips for terrazzo. There is a learning curve because the difference between resin and casting powder is huge. You will get it! Do not spray the mold with alcohol to release the item from the mold. You will get it Michelle! Try contacting the company for advice about mixing. I know you’re busy but also watch some videos. 😊oh my gosh the unicorn and moose turned out so cute! Love the glaze also.
It mixes better if you use a whisk and a bowl as it has more room rather than a smaller cup
Wow, Michelle, talk about great video of the elk & unicorn! The other experiments do not count. Remember, happy accidents! Thanks for sharing, glad you didn't delete the video.❤
I stil love it ..❤
It literally is what you mix when and not the amounts. The water should be measured and in the mixing cup first. Add powder slowly stirlring as you add it to the water. I've used this a lot and bought it from Michaels. The colors are okay but I'm still working on getting darker colors and order some jesmonite dye from etsy which I can't wait to try. The precolored powder is really colorful but still not as strong a color as the image on the packages the product comes in. I'll pray for your success!
Like mixing corn starch! 😂
He is an OctoElk…Octopus and Elk ! The bubbles look like the suction cups on an octopus!
Measure out 2 equal parts of plaster powder to 1 equal part of water by volume. Pour the water into a mixing container and then slowly add plaster powder. 😊
It isn't plaster powder. It's a rational of 3:1.
My original measurements were exactly 3:1 as per the directions 🤔
@glitznglitterbymichelle1 you measured correctly, so what on earth is going on. Maybe an email to Let's Resin?
I have only seen people use Jesmonite and the eco pour powders. Claire serves the powder first as it clumpy otherwise. But it still looks very runny- thinner than crepe batter.
I hope you find the source of the issue as I can't seem to find jesmonite here!
Like mentioned in other comment(s), try adding powder into water and use a larger bowl ❤
You need a bigger bowl and pour the powder into the water and stir a bit at a time. You did make me laugh - again but love the elk and the unicorn is very special.
The little unicorn is awesome! Brilliant save on the missing ear and the horn crack! She is just adorable!
I can't speak much on the mixing process, but I had the thought that using a shallower container to mix would at least give you access to the bottom. My other thought was setting up the water and powder as individual portions for each mold.
Interesting on the powders not adhering, but they are designed to work with resin, and resin like substances.
Oh! Could you seal the coasters, or encase them in a thin layer of resin, drill holes in them.... then use one of the pieces of wood you were gifted to make a wind chime sort of thing??
Hope you had a blessed Easter.
A normal person would realize these things 😁😁 must be the pressure of the camera 😁
Yes you can glue it
Michelle, you are so funny!! You have been using resin for so long and you are really good at it!! This is no different. It's funny though because I kept thinking, she's a baker, she should be fine! Kinda like my geometry teacher saying, you're an artist you should get this!? Um...no.❤ The little guys were adorable!! Especially, the little blinged out unicorn, love her!!
😁😁 baking follows correct instructions 😁😁
@@glitznglitterbymichelle1 and math is the other side of the brain!! Which is lacking on my part!🤪

Happy to make you laugh 😁😁
Try repainting them then put a thin layer of resin over them 😊
I haven't used that one but with the others I add powder bit at a time to the water
Hello Sandy and Violet!🥰
I feel disappointed for you Michelle.😢 but the little Elk and unicorn are pretty cute! ❤
It’s a learning curve.. it’s definitely not resin! My first 2 projects were a bust! lol!
Michelle, I love the doggie coasters. Perfect or not, they were made with redemption in mind. Perfectly hand-made. Only the bunny didn't survive 😢, but everything else is beautiful.
Incredible save with the unicorn!
Make a hole in your powder down to the bottom, then mix as you pour water like you make biscuits
I got my Beach bag and I love it ❤ Michelle you truly out did yourself on the bags❤
Thank you!!😊
That unicorn is glittery and adorable, love you how to fix it. 💖
Michelle, you are awesome 👌
You didn't fail, the project failed...big difference. Thank you for the lesson. Learning what not to do is just as important as learning how to do something. You and Don are wonderful, fun, and entertaining ❣️
Keep up the great videos 🎉
