    It's nice to hear a bass head with onboard overdrive that doesn't sound farty & flubby. This leans more towards fuzz with a crispness most others don't offer.

    I read that John McVie used Orange bass amps on some of the earliest recordings by Fleetwood Mac.

    Illiterate-friendly amps by Orange!
    I agree, Gregor, that they do make very nice looking (and sounding) gear. Nice review!

    You should do a review of the orange 4 stroke heads!

    Going to have to agree here with the P-bass thing.
    I have one of these paired with a 1x15, and it brings out the best in my precision. I mainly play a stingray (which sounds great through this as well, check out the Session DE video on it); but there’s some kind of magic in there when the P-bass is running through it. Not entirely surprising since Orange also makes a P-bass, but yeah…it sounds fantastic.

    Could it be that when testing and playing the amp at their factory they used an orange bass which is a p bass style instrument. That could be why p basses sound good. Thanks again for the video and keep up the amazing work as always

    How do you connect amp to the cab in the back. I understand the whole watts and ohms a bit more now but I'm still scared about plugging in the cables lmao

      That’s the „BassTheWorld“ bass by Vychodil Basses. This model will be released officially in a couple of weeks. Video is following soon!

    However, the Phil Jones Roadcase is also very beautiful as it is more wine red.

    What is class d

  • @mrpositronia
    @mrpositronia 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So class D isn't solid state? Never knew that! :) I thought solid state was anything without tubes. Doh... I noticed clipping in the lows, is that actually distortion from the amp, or the video's level? Or my dodgy built-in PC audio? Hmm, well it certainly goes distorted later on... (rambling now)

    Amazing combination of dirty and clean sounds - no wonder Orange amps are so wanted!
    Does anyone know the brand of bass at 6:15?

    • @gregthesalad495
      @gregthesalad495 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a very bright sound, which isn't common in those genres. But it'll give the bass far more presence in those genres, and I plan on getting it for similar genres

      kinda late but i've seen a lot of hardcore/beatdown use this amp so it's a yes to me

  • @kongandbasses8732
    @kongandbasses8732 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    At least you have said it: Class A/B - solid state - Amps blow Class-D - Amps out of the water.
    But I have to admit that I do own a Class-D - Amp. It is ok for all the situations there is no room in the van - or on stage. Because everything in my Class-D - rig is smaller.
    For full force (and sound...) I still use Class A/B - Amps - or tube amps.

    • @sideparting6845
      @sideparting6845 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I used to have a class A/B amp which sounded great but induced a hernia moving it so class D it is!
      There's something beautiful about being able to put amps and cabs in the boot instead of having to move a wall of cabs with the world's heaviest amp.

    Class D bass amps are, for the most part, solid state. I think he's referring to Class A and Class A/B when he talks about "solid state" and "class D" amplifiers? someone correct me if I'm wrong, but i think it was a little bit of terminology confusion.

    I still have to understand the point of making a demo of distorted sounds only in fingerpicking, since the vast majority of those who use distorted bass play with the pick. Come on....

  • @johnny711

      Liking one brand doesn’t have to mean to dislike everything else. Good for you that you’ve found your sound, but it’s not helpful to project that on everyone else

    • @mikelabelle1145
      @mikelabelle1145 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with the above sentiment! For 7os and 80s rock this IS the amp. Albeit that isn't always a desirable sound it it is an extremely versatile amp.
