    It's so crazy how old that effect is and people are still trying to replicate it, it was so well done in the Black Or White video!

    I still remember the first time I saw that effect in Michael Jackson's Black Or White, I was all crazy trying to think how they had done it, without a doubt the king of pop was ahead of time. Thanks for this great tutorial, a hug and success.

    When I saw the announcement for this tutorial, I thought: this is the best morph I've seen since the Black and White video. Really fantastic how you explain the initial preparation on the shoot and all the tools and how they work. This is a perfect tutorial.

      @@flo.motion Well its a very well planned shot with a lot of Physical things also happening onset. Its far from the best ever any more. Its just the one that is clearly a morph. The best morphs being done these days are invisable effects. Black and White is very good though and does hold up. LIke they comp in hair swinging in one person before they start the morph. Thats just good planning.

    I love the way you explain how the tools work instead of just using
    them and letting others figure it out,it is part of what makes you a
    very special tutor.

    I finally figured it out! So I think the reason some people dislike your videos is because they're new to After Effects so they won't know what a key is or that you have to click on the stopwatch.. so when you put "easy" on the tutorial they're gonna want you to explain everything in detail. I've been using After Effects for awhile so I figured everything out but someone who has never used it would be lost without a background in the program

    That is a great use of the morph, being able to blend the jump cut in Premiere. I immediately checked my Final Cut Pro on the G5 and sure enough, it is not available in the menu. So I checked AE on the G5 and you guessed it, not available in the menu. SMH I was so pumped up to try it out that I turned to my imaginary girl friend and asked her if she wanted to morph with me but since she is imaginary, wasn't on the menu.

    Cool tutorial. Also you can use other distortion methods, like Reshape, Mesh Warp, Puppet tool or even use Mask with its vertices linked to Puppets through Duik bones (thats may be quite complicated). Do you know about ReVision ReFlex Plug-ins? With ReVision ReFlex Warp or ReFlex Motion Morph you can achieve better results and a lot quicker.

    • @flo.motion
      @flo.motion  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey!
      Exactly! The method stays the same, it is a mixture of warping and blending! Some of the tools you mention have some limitations, for example Reshape only allows for one mask (as far as I know) And also ReFlex does exactly the same! The only difference is that they have some special features, like automatically align the images or features in the image and edge detection. But the animation process is the same, you animate the warp and the blending and create a morph by that! By the way: The morph in the beginning where we took a picture on each birthday was done with ReFlex Motion Morph!!

    • @megacheak
      @megacheak 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flo.motion in reflex you could use a lot of masks on one layer for small details, and it is possible to animate mask path instead of blend amount. So i think ReFlex is simpler and faster, but unfortunately it is paid.

      Hey, that is indeed tricky! And the words would need to line up perfect!! So for example in a music video you could do it! I tried that a few years ago: th-cam.com/video/PhDtJG7C_qg/w-d-xo.html
      This is basically a morph over 3 minutes... but also the eyes and so on are really differnet to achieve! Maybe you could try morph it, and then track one mouth shape over it? Really curious to see your result!!

      Haha... I am not even sure if After Effects existed back then! They used a special program that was specifically written for those shots! There was no graphic interface back then. Think about it in that way: The only saw some code on their monitors, hit the render button or typed in "render.exe", waited for a few days and could then see the result and tweak the code from there...

    Dude your tutorials are so underestimated. Amazing, loved that you give such a detail explaining. Subbed and liked. Question: you worked with 15frames, usually I work transactions with 7 frames.. I think if you worked with 7frames would be easier and faster. What do u think? Last but not least I loved the morph you did with your friend shots. You should have showed that too!

    is it possible to do this on a precomposed layer? I want a shatter to morph into text. I'm really new to this whole editing thing (with after effects at least), and there's so much to explore that I'm getting a little overwhelmed and the things I really want to do seem to be impossible, any ideas?
