Don't forget it's one of the most powerful and useable lightweight 'carryable' scooters. Because of the exotic materials, you can carry this with you without it being too much of a burden.

I got one (in this color) a few months back. I have to say ordered it on cyber Monday and paid about 750 dollars. Still a pretty penny. Yes as a lot of people have pointed out the range is not awe inspiring but I can get close to ten miles in dual motor mode and "unlocked mode" which is enough for me. And yes the lack of pneumatic tires and any suspension can be rough. I live in New York and have had my brain massaged a few times on some of these roads. The top speed of about 20 mph is more than enough for me; to be honest I still get a little antsy at that speed lol. The dual motor mode eats hills in my neighborhood. The brakes are really good even at high speeds. It's light weight was important to me for using it during my commute. And of course its a great looking scooter.
I was looking at the E-Twow also for its lightweight but what made me go with the Unagi was the brakes and the companies custom support reputation.
    Just my 2 cents.

I have a very skeptical view of most reviews this slick. However he did point out the one huge glaring flaw in this scooter, the lack of any suspension and I have to say I believe this review was an honest one. I don't need to go fast - I want some reasonable comfort as I travel. Suspension really counts when it comes to that. As we all know most surfaces are far from perfect, Very far here in SOCAL. There is real quality here and that is obvious, but the lack of suspension stopped me dead in my tracks. Maybe Unagi is working on fixing that. Let's certainly hope so.

Nice review, I agree that aside from some of us I'd say quite a few people now (like me) park outside of the "zone" and use my scooter to get 2 or 3 km each way between the car and the office. I know of a few others here where I work who also do that.
Plus I can nip up to the shops (further away than a convenient lunch time walk would allow) and extend my range from the office to the better lunch venues. Its also faster than taking my car (even if I did pay for parking at the campus) to take my scooter to the shops.
For people who pay $500 for a pair of shoes the style and look of this scooter (and hopefully lack of maintenance) will make its swish looks and light weight appealing (maybe even chicks).

I wish I have my Unagi scooter now. I made a purchase on July 6th and three weeks later, no scooter. They said they’ll ship it within two weeks, but apparently they didn’t even have any stock (of the particular color I ordered) in the US. Why didn’t tell me this before I placed an order? I don’t know but that’s a sign of bad customer service.

Too bad this can't toggle from dual to single motor mode to increase range when performance isn't really required. A single 250W motor should easily get to 20 kph. Sleek unit, I like how all the controls are integrated into the handlebars.

It can, but that's not how it works. A single motor will take twice as much power to get up to speed than dual motors. I've tested this myself, the dual motors will actually get you optimal range between 12-15mph.

To get the most out of a scooter your gonna need to switch terrains every now and then - its like “Hey everyone we have the FERRARI of scooters but w/ skimped on the suspension ?? Yeah yeah -theres cost/profit ratios WE GET IT but come on -when its this sexy it should have a sexy feel to the ride?!?! It looks nice for some sunday funday cruising - But For those who are planning to use their scooter for multiple mission types (including work) -The EtwoWOW line is still the best workhorse -it has dual shocks and foldable handlebars too - you dont always need these features- but theres those times when they are a real life saver -look forward to UNAGI 3.0

17mph is actually pretty low. Why have dual motors, the most powerful of all of the smaller scooters for a low 17mph top speed. Most scooters in the lower category reaches 18.6MPH which is not much better, but still... I am a bit surprised at the low speed. I love the design and low weight, but a real brake and a bit more speed would make it the perfect scooter.
I have a hard time finding one that fits all the criteria I want but honestly I do not think I am too picky. Here is what I want from a scooter - min 18.6mph speed. Rear wheel drive, at least one manual brake, 10" pneumatic tires, no more then 38lbs and a bit of a modern, elegant look, not the old style 90's scooter look and under $700. So far the Mankeel is the one I selected, but have not yet received it. We'll see if I chose well. I really like the low weight of this though...

If range was all that mattered, you wouldn't have a world where a Camry and a Lexus can both exist. Yet even though they both get the same range, somehow each still has a large customer base.

    UNAGI SCOOTER RENT/MEMBERSHIP REVIEW
I was super exited about this one but i didn't expect it to be a disappointment because there are so many amazing reviews on it and most of them are not being paid to give a good review. Since they have no place to review it on their official page, i'm sharing my thought with you here. So if you are like me, looking for the right/perfect scooter, i think you need to read this.
So the cool thing about this scooter is that you can either rent it for 40 buck a month or buy it for 990. The membership is too high in my opinion, that’s where they actually get you with that “one-time registration” of 50 dollars!! But fine, at least you get to try it out and rent it before you go spending a 1000 for a scooter you might not like. So the delivery was super fast, that was a nice surprise. Once i registered I received an email asking me to pick the time of delivery for the following day (options were between 10-2pm or 2-6pm). The next day i received a link where you can see the driver’s location in real time. That was a cool thing and who doesn’t love a 24hr delivery, right?! It seemed promising so far! But, ehh not really.. The driver arrived and handed me the scooter (out of it’s box) the charger and cable. No manuals, no instructions or booklet, nothing. So i called customer services just to make sure that i am not missing any paperwork or instructions, but there was no one to speak to, instead you could leave a voice message, your phone number and name and the reason you are calling AAAND if it is urgent you can email them. LOL really? Email for help? what if it were an emergency??So, their customer service is non existing, so that was very disappointing as i had to go back online and read about instructions.
So first let’s start now with the things i liked about it:
The design of the scooter looks sleek, modern and sexy, so yes it is pretty. It is a little bit lighter than other scooters of similar specs (no wonder there are a lot girls riding it), it is suuuper quiet (if you like that) although ppl sometimes get stunned when they see me ride past them as i appear like a ghost all of a sudden. And the one-click fold works great, so unfolding is effortless. There are 3 speeds, and you have the option of turning on the dual motor function, so those rides up the hill are effortless.
Now sadly i do have more things that i disliked about it..And i was so hoping and really wanted this this one to be THE best scooter for me.
First of all, whoever said this scooter was a smooth ride must have been drunk! For those who are not familiar, the tires on this scooter are “made of solid rubber and puncture proof, so they’ll never foil your morning commute.” I’m guessing they were scaling between ‘Would you rather never get a flat tire? or would you rather have a nice, enjoyable, smooth ride??’
Honestly, i would now pick a flat tire once in a blue moon than a super rough, bumby, and unpleasant ride every day! I kid you not, the ride is so damn bumpy that i started having headaches every time i would ride it. Because the tires are so hard, you feel every single crack, bump and rock on the road, all the way from your jaw to your forehead! So annoying! So i would constantly have to watch and focus on the ground, avoiding any cracks and bumps and the continues vibrations from them made me feel tense while driving and it kills the fun of it. It definitely did not make the ride enjoyable. Recently i even fell because i thought it could cross a thin hose on the street, even though i lowered the speed. Now on top of everything i don’t feel as safe on it. Even my partner who has an amazing scooter (no i will not mention the brand name, but if you ask i will tell you) and he tried it and said it truly is a rough ride. His scooter btw is so smooth on the road as if you are riding on butter! Also there is no cruise control, which i think they need to incorporate as you have to keep your right hand on the accelerator non stop, and if you need to fix your mask or glasses (i’m a righty) good luck if you hit a bump!
But at least now i know exactly what i am looking for in a scooter. So i will not be extending my membership after all, even after only a month of using it. I guess the good thing about it all is that you can rent it and see for yourself. But i would not recommend it, in all honesty. Best of luck and if you do, wear a helmet!!!
    Pros:
fast delivery / lighter than other scooters with similar specs/ super quiet / one-click easy unfold / emergency manual back brake
    Cons:
came with no manual or instructions / tires too hard, terribly bumpy, definitely NOT A SMOOTH RIDE/ no cruise control / doesn’t not show how many miles you have left, only the battery bars / glossy finish (looks a bit cheap in my opinion, i think a matte finish would be sexier).

Hi there! I actually got the same one as my partner. It's a INOKIM light scooter. They actually have a shop in New York, where you can see all the scooters in person and even test them. It's at 333 Bleecker St. I gotta tell you i avsolutely LOVE my scooter, the ride is so smooth and i feel like i am surfing every time i ride it, super fun! They are a little pricier than Unagi but it's an investment you won't regret, if you are planning to use it frequently. It's sturdy fast but very responsive and you feel safe when you ride it. I ride mine everyday. I live in Williamsburg (by Hewes station), and it normally takes me 30-45 minutes to get to Soho, but with the scooter it takes me only 15 minutes! For me, it's the best purchased i made in a long time. I highly recommend it. Best of luck!

The Unagi E500 (dual motor) scooter is TERRIBLE compared to my Xiaomi. Forgetting the price difference of Xiaomi costing a fraction of the Unagi. The only plus on it is that it climbs hills much better than the Xiaomi. The minuses are (1) feels much heavier than Xiaomi, (2) very rough ride to the point of unbearable when going on NYC roads (Xiaomi doesn’t have suspension but its inflated tires absorb most small cracks in the road), (3) no cruise control (in a $1000 scooter?), (4) no drum brake? (I really like Xiaomi’s dual braking feature when it activates both electronic & drum brake when you press the drum brake). The “no cruise control” and the “real rough ride” is a deal breaker for me so I’m returning it after 1 day of commuting with it. I’m going to look at UScooter GT/TWOW - everyone keeps raving about it! I’m really looking for a Xiaomi that would fly up hills like the Unagi and be as light as possible.

I don't see how Unagi would even sell any of these at $1000. Even people with money to throw around would rather get something with more range and more power for $1,000. Aesthetics are nice, but it doesn't justify 3x the price. Also, it's not just that, it lacks physical brake and suspensions that scooters half that price has as well. This doesn't make any sense.

Right idea in losing the weight but a perfect zero when it comes to performance. My sub 200 dollar scooter is better. I can replace my $200 dollar scooter when I wreck it and I will. Having said that excellent niche play.
Verdict: to say the competition is coming on strong would be an understatement.

1000 dollar scooter with no suspension that goes 17 miles per hour and has a terrible 8 mile range. How are you calling it premium? How are you saying it's good? Customer service alone isn't going to make it premium. The iPhone isn't just pretty it's one of the best specced phones in the world.

Those tires will wear out after 200 too 300 miles then what do you do. I guess you throw it out then. 98% of people can not fix never the less get ANY parts. The company will send you the tires then what. There are hardly anyone showing how to change the scooters tires. Bike shops will not touch a scooter at all. It's very difficult to change the tires. Changing car tires is simple did the car tire once with no help are instructions that was just common sense. Scooters are equivalent to fixing a Rolex opposed to changing a watch battery on a Timex.
