      Lots worked from home back in the old days. The original tv repairman lived right across the street from my house. House and fish pond still there but he has been dead at least 40 years. His daughter sold the house and it was sold again about 3 years ago.

    KP - agreed, very frustrating they have no trade counter - especially if you have an urgent repair. I’m pretty local too and can’t believe how long mail from them takes to arrive
    Nice job there - glad they guy wanted it fixed rather than junking it

      Used to be able to go pick up at his part counter around at the back basement door. Someone couldn't follow directions not to park directly in front of his house and a neighbour complained and spoiled it for everyone.

    Some interesting stuff.... I own a Denon AVR-1912 and I was cleaning it today. The amp board has the same silly solder notches fpr the transistors and even the value of the resistors are the same. The PCB has no branding on it. Just FL SL C FR SR and as it is a 7.1 amp SUR and SUL. The construction also is very similar to this Pioneer.

We tend to be critically picky, l do too, never mind "We" can't service any better, we then look to critique your systematic approach to the Job at hand. • @12voltvids

      Used to be able to. Call on phone for parts and he always said don't park directly in front of house. I always parked up the street. Unfortunately some people don't know how to visit a business operating out of a house in a residential area on the down low and the new mayor is kind of a dick. He didn't want Uber and Lyft in the city even though this was a provincial government decision. So he started using bylaw officers to order up an Uber or Lyft and then proceed to slap fines on drivers that showed up. My guess is the business got slapped with a bylaw fine as the current city government is sleazy in this respect. All i know is when i called to get some blue gears for Sony VCR the guy said i could no longer pick up parts. So either someone complained or the bylaw Nazi set him up. I have had them by here and read me the riot act. I had people dropping off old gear they were giving me and someone made a complaint. I suspect it is the guy across the street. He is the new one on the block. Everyone else knows me and I have fixed their stuff so they are not about to rat me out.

      @@b.powell3480 where did Trudeau get into this? I am referring to a city council in Surrey. The local market there. A senile old man. You know who is taking my hard earned money. The IRS that's who. TH-cam gets clipped 33% before I even see it. Paypal now informs me that i have to pay tax on funds coming in. For repairs that means a 30% increase on service and the return shipping costs. The us is clamping down. I guess i could just go back to the old system. Send cash. I like the sound of that.😉

    Hello I have a av receiver like this one with no audio if you don't mind where do you order parts from ?..?

  • @RGD-Audio-Repairs
    @RGD-Audio-Repairs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Im sorry if my question sound noob.. Ive recently repaired a faulty peavey CS 1000 power amp that i got for cheap. It had a blown Channel B board.... shorted T03 transistors, I replaced the T03's, aswell as the driver transistors, emitter resistors, opamps etc...
    I powered up on dim bulb, bulb dimmed down as it should... amp powered up fine, Relays clicked as they should, and i even had good audio sound, and through both channels.. basically, it powered up and ran exactly as it should, even checked DC output on speaker terminals.. 1.8 Mv exactly on both channels..... Question is.... Does this mean that its 10000% safe to power up without the dim bulb in place?!?
    Im new to electronics, and this is my very first every repair project, and honestly, ive learnt alot about how it all works :) Im just still very cautious.. I dont want to power it up normally and blow up something that ive put so much hard work into fixing...
    Im gathering, the relays clicking on... is a sign that everything is happy?
    Many Thanks

    So for reassembly old heat sink compound need not be removed from original components or the heatsink?

    • @peterlarkin762
      @peterlarkin762 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point. I would say it's preferable to remove the old stuff, it tends to harden and not bind nicely, plus excess thermal grease is bad for dissipation as are silicon pads.

    ?how to tell if parts are "original"

    • @diogenescaruaru
      @diogenescaruaru 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Today its very difficult to rally know the part is original or not before installing it. One has to trust the supplier your´e purchasing from and hope for the best.

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Reputable places deal with original parts as they want to stay in business. Many years ago probably 25 now my supplier got a bunch of counterfeit parts in that looked original. I couldn't figure out why these horizontal outputs kept blowing over and over. I then thought bad flyback and it blew again. So then the through was a bad CRT and the customer dumped their nice Panasonic prism tv. I took the set home and popped in a used original transistor from a TV that the CRT was smashed. It worked. Never failed. Another set came in and a counterfeit transistor went in and it too blew. So I decided to open the transistors up. Both the dead original and the dead replacement and what I found shocked me. The die and silicon chip was about 1/4 the size of the original. No wonder it overheated and popped. I took my findings to the parts shop along with a bag of blown parts and he wouldn't believe me. I showed him the original and offered to open up one of his new ones on the spot. He handed me one and I used a Dremel to cut in. Tiny chip in that one too. Told me he sold thousands and i was the only one with a problem. I laughed and said the other guys are probably pulling their hair out or just condemning the tv after it blows again. I never bought that part again from main electronics. I went back to using manufacture supplied parts at 40.00 a pop instead of 5.00 and marked it up accordingly. Since then it has gotten worse.
