man, watching you play alongside the anime really makes one notice how incredible the animation is, like damn, bocchi is actually playing the song! thats rare. Incredible work!
They really went far and beyond with the animation, having stated in an interview about a month ago that they setup virtual cameras and motion capture to record footage of real-life performers told to perform with the characters personalities in mind, such as having the lead guitarist having more reserved posture to accomodate for Bocchi's personality as a base for animating the performance scenes to make them as accurate as possible. Even beyond the animation, there's a lot of attention to details in the anime such as the first song they performed before this. They had the voice actress for Ikuyo sing without any warmup for it, which made her delivery more shaky and pitchy, messed up the rhythm of the drums and made the instruments not sync up well to reflect their nervousness of playing in front of an audience. That scene was so relatable as a musician that it hurts but I loved how real it was.

@@dnbqup I don’t know what you call it but looking at the tabs he’s starting with a bend on the 13th fret and then he taps each note up individually and pulls off so that the note on the 13th fret repeats between each tap?
it looks like a slide up but it’s rigid so his finger pulls off between notes. if you want to replicate it just start by a bend on the 13th and then slide up from 16-21 with your picking hand and it’ll sound similar. If you get more advanced then you can try to be more rigid with the slide and go from a slide to tapping by incorporating pull offs to get the note on the 13th fret in between each note you tap. Just know that you have to do it at a perfect speed and smoothness in order to not mute the string and lose all sound 😊
i could gush about the significance of the inprov at the start for ages, its the biggest climax and most important moment in the whole show. some people got emotional when nijika was talking to hitori after, but for me this is it. its just raw, unfiltered, grungy emotion and it kicks the ENTIRE building into another level of seriousness. the subtle look from hiroi is an AMAZING touch. upon hearing the first chord she knows EXACTLY whats about to happen to that place and she knows no one there is ready for it. even the internal monologue of hitori is perfect. she knows what she has to do to save the performance and she is not going to let this opportunity slip through her fingers. amazingly faithful recreation. (i wish the show gave us some keyboard representation though)
That moment was rooted in my mind and I always will remember it because I was in the same position. Saving a gig is one of the best experiences you can have as a musician.
I learned guitar for a few years in the past but dropped it around 7 years ago because of other life stuff happening. Bocchi and your covers really make me itching to pick it up again. Thanks for this, your covers are great!

Day 2: Played 50% for about 40 minutes felt confident to go to 75% speed, fcked up on the arpegio part on verse 1 (15,14,13 - 14,13,12 13-12-11) in the end went to try and play 50% speed accurately total time of practice: 1 hour
Day 3: Tackled on the iconic chorus lead, was able to play correctly at 50 - 75% speed was struggling to play on 100% speed, brother said it was the picking technique will get to practice proper picking techniques
Day 4: attempted to do the first verse on the orignal speed 190 bpm, was sturggling after the arpeggio part. will practice slower 150bpm then move on to original speed
