Thanks for this video, just 13 days before Angelina will perform two shows at the Westgate Resort and Casino, in Las Vegas, on February 29, 2024. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on TH-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. *Why Angelina always performs barefoot* At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website. Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Musicians working with Angelina would call her the boss since she knew exactly how she wanted to sing the song and would confidently instruct the musicians. While one could say Angelina was mimicking other artists, there is no doubt she had her own style and created her own arrangements, even at this early age. Angelina was near her 8th birthday for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition to trim the number of vocalists who passed their audition, and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang.” In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. The money was placed in a trust and available when Angelina turns 18. Record company executives flew their private jets to Norway to attempt to sign 8 year old Angelina but all were thankfully rebuked. Disney also made an offer but not accepted. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore and Mexico among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. The album can be purchased on iTunes or Amazon. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT which would give Simon any control over her career. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on TH-cam. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On TH-cam, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The playlist now exceeds 200 songs. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022. In December 2022, Angelina performed at the Asian American Awards in Los Angeles. On 2/27/23, Angelina performed at the FIFA Awards ceremony in Paris, France, with a viewing audience in the millions. On May 5th, 2023, Angelina released her original "Love Don't Let Me Go" On July 21, 2023, her “Old Enough” EP was released with 5 new original songs: “Fire and Rain”, “Diamond”, “Now I’m the Fool”, “All My Fault” and “Good in Goodbyes” The finance company SoFi is using Angelina’s original song “Our Time” in a commercial and the full song was uploaded on TH-cam on October 27, 2023. On November 25, 2023, Angelina attended Le Bal, the annual Debutante Ball in Paris, France. On December 11, 2023, Angelina performed at the tribute to Narges Mohammadi, the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. She first performed at the Save the Children event at the 2014 Peace Prize ceremony, when she was 8 years old. Narges Mohammadi was this years' recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian. We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change. Personally, Angelina as a great human being and her music came into my life when I needed it most. Her music has improved the quality of my life more than I can express. I now introduce her to as many people as I can, with the hope her music will do the same for others. We know once her family believes the time is right and allows Republic Records to fully promote her, she will become the superstar she has always desired to be. I encourage others to use this biography to help educate others about the love, empathy, magic and beauty that is Angelina Jordan Astar and her unique music.
She sang Summertime in NGT final..not what a difference a day makes... Angelina Will be known as one of the greatest vocalists to ever live.. she's also a fantastic humanitarian.. I cannot wait until she visits the UK and performs 😘🥰🎹🎶🎼🎵😍🇬🇧
250 songs both covers and originals left to listen to! She has had many live performances. She is a young living legend! Many see her as the best young female singer and versatile artist we have today! The entire music industry knows who she is, but she steers at her own pace towards unstoppable success and greatness. She is already an artist for the big occasions with e.g. The new FIFA World Cup's official anthem, in addition to several major performances. Like few artists, she has performed for the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 8 and 17.
Some corrections: Her father's name is Gerry Christian Slattman. Her grandmother Mery Zamani and her father initially bought jazz CDs for her to listen to. She also used TH-cam to lookup and listen to many jazz greats. Her mother Sara Astar has said on a number of occasions that Angelina got her artistic talent and ability from her Grandma Mery. Angelina has a very close relationship with Mery. Also, she did not perform What A Difference A Day Makes on Norway's Got Talent for the Final. She performed the song Summertime, the Ella Fitzgerald version. When she first auditioned for NGT, she was 7. When she won the competition, she was 8. The Norwegian producing duo is actually called Stargate, not Stargaze.....
This AI voice narrative also left out the most important aspect about why she performs Barefoot meaning her promise to the little girl who didn't have shoes and Angelina gave her her own shoes.
Ha Ha, Angelina from AGT, they were lucky to have her grace their show. Still any advertising is good advertising so they say, so thanks for this video
Wait what? 1:13... her father exposed her to Jazz? wasn't it her grandmother? her father as far as we are concerned has been missing in action all these years, she confirmed that herself not long ago on her mother's birthday when she thank her for playing both roles for her. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
You are right about her grandmother being the artistic influence on Angelina, as a child prodigy herself in visual arts and poetry, but I think you are drawing an invalid conclusion about her father being missing in action, as we have absolutely no idea what her relationship with her father is, and wouldn’t recognize him if he was standing right next to her, although there are videos on her grandmother’s TH-cam that show her with her father.
Angelina was quoted by Norwegian publication VG in 2014, that she received a lot of jazz CDs by her father and her grandmother. The article is titled "Se Angelina (8) smelte dommerne med jazz-melankoli"
@nfpnone8248 I believe we have enough proof to validate that he hasn't been present, but if it's true he gave her Jazz CDs it's probably because she was already into it thanks to her grandma.
Yeah we don't really know. All we were told before was he stayed in Europe. For all we know the relationship is there to an extent still. The recent words from Angie and Juliette to Sara don't necessarily suggest a bad or entirely missing relationship. The words from Mery to Sara kind of suggest it wasn't great for Sara at least, but may not have been regarding that. Not that you are wrong. We'll see if she ever wants to go in depth with that part of her story. But it is technically reasonable to think a long distance relationship between busy people would put Sara in a dual role to an extent no matter how well they did with it. No matter how amazing Angie is she'd have to feel some of that imperfect situation no matter what too. I hope we don't speculate about it much though, one day she probably lays it all out there.
I only noticed that What A Difference A Day Makes was not the final of NGT, and that the background footage was often random. What else do you think was wrong?
@@most2dot0Actually, on 2nd listen it's better than I remembered. At 1:14 her father's name is Gerry Christian Slattman, not Garret Astar & it wasn't her father that introduced her to music/jazz, it was her maternal grandma, Mery Zamani. At 2:09 they called her Angela, not Angelina. At 3:36 they didn't say she gave her shoes to the homeless girl, a major omission. At 4:30 she sang Summertime in the finals, not What a Difference a Day Makes. At 8:41 her producers are Stargate, not Stargaze. As you said the photos had little to do with what they were talking about, just rather random. However, there was a lot of good information in it, so I think my initial comment was too harsh.

Thanks for this compilation video 👍👌👏First : Grandma Merry Zamani taught Angelina to sing jazz not her father Gerry Slatman!! Secondly, Angelina sang "not What a Difference a Day Makes" but "Summertime by George Gerswin" in the final at Norway's talent show. wo she won with 8 years young!! Otherwise the rest was fine, great job! You can't know everything unless you've been following Angelina intensively for two years like I have! and has heard and seen everything to this day! And is a music 🎶 connoisseur and understander 🎸😲 over 45 years now 67.5 years young!! Bye 👋❤️✌️☮️ and kindness 😀from Switzerland 🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭👋🙋♂️😇👣👰♀️👸😲🎙🎷🎺🎹 🎸🎻❤️🔥💖🔥💥💎!
