This is why it’s important to take the old dogs they still have life in them and are fighting to survive stop getting puppies.
This dog was literally on his deathbed in the shelter. Now, he’s healthy and youthful again. This makes me so happy ❤️

Never know how an animal gets to where it is the owner could have died and had no one to give the dog to there's always a story it's not always black and white but so happy to see him get a good ending and a way to enjoy his final time here on Earth with such love

I use to work in a memory care home and elderly people here in the US are also left in a shelter dying of loneliness 🤷♀️.
My grandma lived up to 99 years old living with family.

I took a dog who I found out was about 14-15 years old. I only had her for just about two years but I was happy she died knowing she was loved. The bad - I didn't have enough time with her. Sniff.

His fur was disheveled, making the gray undercoat a lot more noticeable. New owners just groomed him a lot better than the shelter did.
He is more energetic, though, I’ll give you that.

@@babs_kaye3562 - more than enough! You set a high standard few can beat. I am a senior in a nursing facility, and I am in the middle of Omnicrom strain. I was rescuing many cats and dogs, orphan elephants to get continued help for. New I've caught it, and pray over the nurses, us and still am trying to rescue senior animals from shelters to rescue groups, best I can do. But nurses, CNAs are working so very hard and I am grateful for you, them all!🙂🙂💜💜💜✝️✝️✝️

That boy still has many years of life left. You can tell he was ready to give up in the beginning but by the end he found a reason to go on. This is beautiful
That poor old man I don’t know how people just dump pets like that. It breaks their hearts, they deserve better.
It angers me too but keep in mind circumstances can randomly cause these things as well. Owner could've been old and died and had no family, it happens alot and the elderly pets end up in shelters. Heartbreaking stuff

Ok yeah this had me crying. We had a rescue for the last year of her life. She was blind and almost deaf when we got her. She was so precious and I made her food here in the kitchen. I had to put it in the processor due to her lack of teeth. She had an amazing last year. She was loved and petted and spoiled. And out of all of the animals I’ve ever had the pleasure to love….she left the biggest imprint 🐾
And believe me they know that they are in a loving pack.

This made me cry. Our cat [18 1/2] is a bit like this old doggo. This doggo has such a lovely face. I am so glad he got lucky in his old days. Old animals can give still so much love and make you happy giving love to them.
Only love keeps an animal going for 18 and a half years you are obviously wonderful :-)

My beautiful cat Jesse just passed away last year at the age of 18 1/2. He was happy and spry and loved to eat. He would jump three feet from the back of the recliner to the couch to hang with me and watch tv. He had just visited the vet for a checkup and showed no signs of health problems at all. I just woke up one morning and found him lying lifeless. See you at the rainbow bridge little friend.
Old dogs give as much or more love and caring. I had two Toy Fox Terriers that lived till 17 (5 lbs) and 21 (4 lbs) and both were in good health almost till the end. SO sweet, couldn't walk by me without kissing my ankle and being loving. Love does keep them going, but we are their guardians and when it's time to pass on, it's our duty to help them. Old age is not a disease, but when they do get too ill, we can still help them by stopping the discomfort and pain. Dingo, I bet you were the best guardian and love for that dog.

But you must remember that you gave your cat the best life ever, taking care of their physical welfare too, as you obviously did, shows you did your utmost for them. I know you would have wanted to be there at the end but hopefully, at his age, it was quick.
I had to have my own little 13 year old dog, Angel, put to sleep. I expected her to live to be 16 at least although she had her problems. I, like you I suspect, spent more of my money on her and her needs than I ever did on mine. I took her to the vet with a slight problem, who referred me to a specialist, who did a scan and told me she had a massive heart tumour. She couldn't be left as she would have struggled to breathe at her last so I had to make the decision for her. This all happened on one day. Believe you me, it's a terrible decision to make because you know you ultimately have no choice so, for them, you have to make sure you don't allow them to struggle on just for your own wants.
I guess what I'm taking an age to say is your adored cat was taken in the way we'd all wish to go: quickly and knowing love and comfort. In time, because of that love, you will find that next special little soul who needs it too - just as I did with that tiny moppet you see next to my name. He was taken much too young from his mum and siblings and I knew I could care properly for him. Teddy is almost 2 now, utterly adorable and adored, and rules the house. But I'll never forget my little girlie.....
I want to own a shelter that rescues animals like this. It's my ultimate dream.

My dog Angus was with me for 20 years. You can never say how long a dog has, especially mixed breeds. Love and care are what really extends their lives. Like our own really.

I adopted a 16yo and watched him transform over the first year. I just smile watching how young and happy he’s become. Nobody wanted him either. He’s been such a Godsend for me after my pup passed away at 14.

Sir you are awesome. Not just anyone would pick a 16 year old senior citizen to be their friend. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love for this old guy. This is coming from a senior adult that has had dogs and a cat that lived long lives, 13, 15, 11 and 10. We rescued each one since they were born and have been blessed for it.

Omg I did the same thing. I adopted a 16 year old beagle that none wanted because she had congestive heart failure. She cost me a lot of money, got breast cancer and other things but she was happy and smiled the whole time she was with us. I had never seen that until her. She died on my lap with my family and our other dogs new years day last year. I wish I could have done more but I think that's a bit selfish. May she rest in peace. Thank you for rescuing that guy. You are a good man.
