Another great review thanks Guy. Possibly the ideal bike for long distance trips on rough terrain? Would be great to hear your thoughts on how it compares to similar downcountry bikes.
Chapeau to you sir for amazing reviews. Cycling like that and still being able to talk in such long sentences is impressive ) how would you compare this to tallboy ?
Thanks Gunars I’d say the Specialized Stumpjumper is a much closer match to the Tallboy in terms of handling and hit control but they are very different in terms of pedalling. Have a look at the Blur TR for a closer match to this bike.
I tried the tallboy and the epic evo expert. When I tried them I noticed that the epic evo is A LOT better at climbing. So I got the epic evo for Christmass.
I’m a Tallboy 3 owner too and curious how these new short travel bikes compare. Are these new bikes that much better? The current Tallboy is a completely different animal.
@@jackquinlan3163 are you comparing it to a Tallboy 3 or Tallboy 4? The 3 is very similar to the Evo but the 4 is quite a bit different than either of them.
@GuyKesTV How much hammer can this thing take? Down tube to BB looks a bit thin but you’re giving it some stick as have some other vids on youtube. But out my budget though. Cheers
I have an M size and in my case both the shifter and the dropper post lever hit the top tube. Anyways, i just cut some pieces of electric tape to soften the spot where the lever would hit the frame, it works flawlessly
I've got an epic evo and my girlfriend has a stumpjumper. If you find yourself shuttling, chilling on climbs, and focusing more on the descents and like to huck your bike I'd go with the stumpy. I was looking for a bike that would let me continue racing XC while having more fun on the DH compared to my old 100m hardtail race bike. So, if you find yourself regularly going out on 30+ mile rides with 3-5k feet of climbing I would consider the Epic Evo. Even though I might not send a 15 ft drop on it, it's still loads of fun downhill & you feel every watt of your pedalstroke moving you forward.
@@dvoob Thanks for the reply bro. I ended up getting an Epic Evo Comp about 3 months ago and I love it. It's such a fast and fun bike! The only upgrade I'm planning on are some carbon wheels.
@@norcalchrismeister Would recommend the wheel upgrade. Got some roval controls and it brought the weight down by 800g over the stock wheels. Bike is perfect for the tahoe area if you're still in NorCal
@@GuyKesTV I like it, it is my favourite loop. I ride it reverse to convention. I'll have a dig for a strava file for you. Always start at Feizor, Elaine's tea rooms, free parking and great food. It's a hidden gem.
@@GuyKesTV vimeo.com/88544972 From a while back, I'll have a dig for a slower one with my mate. I'll try to find a gpx. Good in all weather's as it's a circular route with a big hill in the middle, keeps most wind off etc
@@chrispuddifoot4615 I just went for the xl. Got a chance to put it through it’s paces and it’s perfect. Large felt just barely too tight in the reach. I did lower the seat slightly but that’s about it. It’s also light enough that it doesn’t feel cumbersome.
I purchased a tf after owning the epic for a few weeks.. For me the tf is just more sure footed and smoother and handles good in all stuff.. A 66.5 ha requires alot of effort to turn on switch backs and around sweeping corners and harder at micro corrections, I guess it depends what terrain u ride and what bikes you come from. The Tf is good everwhere.. What the epic gains on the downs it looses on climbing and cornering.. I also noticed the back wheel lost traction on steep climbs.. Probably due to me trying to get my weight over that front wheel that is so far out in front.. Also with the slack ha, when tech climbing, if you lean too much or turn the wheel around an object, the top tube tilts to the side you lean, causing a loss of balance. I bought the hype and regretted it.. If you can, test ride it first.. And not just in a carpark..
Love my epic evo, will be holding onto it for a long time
just picked up my 22 epic evo pro. stoked about it after all the great reviews, but i think ill stay on my trainer until winters over!
There is an allen key for adjusting shock rebound located on the right hand side of the sid fork. Just pull on the fork's rebound knob.
🤦♂️I completely forgot they did that. Thanks for reminding me 👍🏻
Excelkent bike and excellent review
Another good review Guy!! Thanks 👍✌
That was a fantastic review!
Thanks Tim and happy new year

+1 especially how it compares to the trek top fuel you demoed
Great review again 😁👍🏼
Guy
Love the review! How does this bike compare to my Tallboy 4 pedals efficiency-wise?
Great bike and great review
It is an awesome bike. Appreciating it even more since I’ve been riding the new Epic World Cup which has a heavier frame and much less travel
@GuyKesTV the only bike I'm really liking as much ad the Epic Evo (in a slightly different way and flavour) is the Trek Top Fuel
@@andreamantovani5354 that’s a good shout. Different ways of doing a similar job but both great bikes
This looks like a right adventure 👌🏻
Wait till you see the Merida one!

I'm really interested in this bike. I wonder how it compares to my current bike, Tallboy 3. They both have the same travel.

Tallboy version 3 owner here as well. Same question.
It really is that much better I wish I could show you what my bikes like like but the epic evo outperforms them buy so much.

Great review Guy. My evo is due in January. Any upgrades you recommend?
Bars , wheels, gear train?
I’m looking into that bike and if it were mine I would 120 tpi tires instead of 60 to save some rotational weight
get Oneup carbon bars...the stock alu bars are really rigid and non compliant..
What do you think about this bike compared to the canyon thank you
Kes. On your size large did you find that the lever hit the top tube when the handle bars turn around?

I've been thinking of getting an Epic Evo Expert or Stumpjumper comp. I ride mostly steep and rocky terrain. Which bike would you recommend?

2020 trek top fuel or 2021 epic evo, did one bike stand out over the other?
Great review and I would also like to know how you compare the Epic Evo to the Top Fuel.
Kes. Can I ask if you can fit a 2.4 tyre on there with room to spare?
From memory it was fairly snug with the stock 2.3 tyre and that’s what it looks like in the pics too. I can check with Spesh though.
yes, absolutely you can...with the stock 2.35 there is still plenty of room
Hello, what brand is the front fender?
Its the Crud Fender XL
Would you prefer this or Stumpy for Gisburn/Austwick type of riding?
Stumpy Evo for Gisburn. This is more for heading out over the Dales on.

How tall are you, sir? Not sure if I should go L or XL being 6ft, 2in.

How does this feel against the top fuel?
Any timed runs against your flaremax?
Lighter and livelier than the TF but not as surefooted through tech stuff. Planning some EE V FMax runs soon. Should be fun!
