    Seeing The Blair Witch Project the weekend was released and not really knowing anything about it was pretty brutal. Everyone in the theater sat silently in shock for quite a while.

    Shutter ending should have been listed. A ghost is watching a couple throughout the film who revealed to be the mans ex girlfriend who was obsessed with him. Majority of the movie he’s been complaining about having back pain only to have it revealed at the end through a photo that the ghost has been riding his back the entire time.

      When the Alamo first showed this movie in Austin, they did it deep in an actual cave. They can do these things. I can still remember walking out at the end of the original Dawn of the Dead and into the mall where it was showing. It was unnerving.

    Honestly... The ending to Paranormal Activity 4 ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED me when I first saw it in theaters! Seeing thousands of those Coven witches walking towards her in the backyard right before the possessed Katie lunges at the camera scared the living and breathing shit out of me and I couldn't sleep for weeks after that!!!! I had to sleep with the hall light on at night just to make me feel better! 😱 The ending to Paranormal Activity The Marked Ones was also pretty terrifying!

    The Blair Witch still does it for me because everything about the film suddenly feels subtlety off: Mike facing the corner despite _seconds ago_ being struck down is incredibly weird and unsettling.
    Then there's Heather's voice being over in the distance even though she's the one holding the camera, and the camera is moving slow and steadily in spite of how panicked she is.

      I would say The Alien Franchise.
      -Alien and Aliens were really good.
      -Alien 3 was Okay.
      -Alien: Resurrection was totally stupid.
      -Prometheus was complete trash to me.
      -AVP and AVP2 is good on paper but executed horribly.
      -Alien: Covenant was a very good attempt, although it’s nowhere near Alien and Aliens.

    For me, it'll always be Buried. It was a brutal, and shot in such a manner that you can feel the exact terror that Ryan Reynold's character is feeling. I still get chills every time especially when the last thing you hear before he perishes is "I'm sorry Paul. I'm so sorry."

    Sleepaway Camp, REC, Carrie have brilliant endings. I love your #1 choice too. The Witch's ending isn't that scary. I can't believe you didn't even mention Black Christmas (1974), The Stepford Wives (1975), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), The Others, The House of the Laughing Windows, High Tension, House of 9, Soylent Green, Goodnight Mommy, Angel Heart, Alien Covenant, Final Destination series

    I know people tend to shit on paranormal activity now a days, but man that was one of the best theater experience I’ve had. Great horror flick. Didn’t help that I had a crazy stomach ache that night and Couldn’t sleep. Never eat chillis before a horror movie.

    Watching all of paranormal activity 1 by myself at night was hands down the stupidest decision I've ever made, especially with the ending. I actually nearly jumped off the couch...(this was like 5-7 years ago)

    Even though it doesn't count for this list, being a TV movie, the original Stephen king's it ends with some really creepy carnival/circus music and pennywise laughing, which I've always found to be really creepy

    I am shocked that no one mentioned the end of "The Ring", when that girl crawls out of the well and through the tv? It takes a lot to give me the chills. Also, the very end of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" when she breaks through the window and Leatherface is chasing her down that dusty road, she "barely" gets away and he is swinging the chainsaw in frustration as the screen suddenly goes black.

    My husband, mother in law, and myself watched THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT in the theater and, about 40 minutes in, we stopped watching the movie and started watching the audience. (Watching the audience was way more interesting). When the most recent BW came out my son went to see it, and his review was as follows: "That was the most ignorant thing I've ever seen in my life. That's time from my life I can never get back. I spent fifteen dollars only to be given a lumbering, twitchy, Melvin of a baddie that turned into alien lights."
