I think it’s great to see the mistakes and mishaps. Now I don’t feel so bad when I make a bad cut and I also have hope that it will be ok! Thank you for your transparency!

It helps to zip tie the vacuum to the dremel so you have both hands for the dremel, also the router base might offer more control

Great Idea! I will use that on the next one and zip tie it (somehow), maybe drill a hole in vacuum end?

I would use a zip tie long enough to fit around the vacuum maybe a second one where it is the corrugated tubing. Just a thought, more importantly try to make it as comfortable as possible because that seem to give best control.

Straight edge and a pencil would help for making lines to follow. If its an old house that was built beef before building codes were established, then I bekieve it woud be best to do initial cutting about an inch before the stud edges - just in case wiring is ran wonky. Experience speaking lol 😆

I'm looking for CD storage which requires a 5 inch deep shelf. Will that work? It's for my garage that has no drywall .

Yes! I think Home Depot sells 1x5 (3/4x4-1/4). Here is a video with some tips. Thanks for your question!

@@EZStudRack Thank you. I was a bit confused because you always mention shelf sizes of 1X5 1X4 1X6 etc. but you never mention the widths. I believe my studs are spaced 16 inches on center which probably means I need shelves around 14 inches wide.

Widths very. 16 inch centers are normal, but they are all different. I always measure and test the entire height. Here is a short clip: th-cam.com/users/clipUgkxA3OLDFciOQwxNu5sWLZg-LptaakEyb13

@@EZStudRack Thanks for all the info. I paid almost $500 for a CD cabinet that I filled immediately and still need at least 2 more. Because I have exposed studs in my garage I thought that I could somehow install shelves but then I found your product which makes it much easier. I can buy a 12 foot 1X6 board at Lowe's and they'll cut it free.
I've watched many of your videos on the installation process and how the spacing between the studs can vary. One of mine is 14.75 inches. If I'm correct you stated that you need to allow a 1/8 inch on each side for the rack so if I assume if I have the wood cut to 14.5 inches I should be good.
I'm 70 years old with arthritis so I'm probably not going to be able to use a screwdriver for the self threading screws. I have a drill but it's corded and big so I'll probably have to pick up a cheap impact driver. Thanks for all your help and I'll post photos on your FB page when completed.

Love it but I would want a door on it. I don’t want to see all that stuff. It’s overload for my brain

Thanks for your comment. A friend did this with an antique shutter. Of course they used a hand saw to cut sheetrock so I shot a video on trimming it to look clean/better. th-cam.com/video/o0KngVyLVF8/w-d-xo.html

I really dont mean to be "that guy", buuuutttt, why would you not chalk a line or scribe a line with a straight edge before making the cut? I admire the intestinal fortitude you display letting a female freehand with a power tool, very progressive of you, but It would definitely make your life alot easier to heed my advice in any future cuts you might make.... Good luck though, good video regardless, you are a talented host and an interesting watch for sure, keep it up. Just measure twice and cut once and life will be easy peasy from here on out

Thanks for the advice! The line would have definitely helped as a guide to the stud🤦🏽‍♂️
