Regarding the turning the walls to gold section - hopefully not a spoiler, but there's another song on the album called Aqua Regia, and the meaning comes up as "a mixture of concentrated nitric and hydrochloric acids. It is a highly corrosive liquid that will dissolve gold and other resistant substances." Might have some relation?
Maybe it's against his holy duty to be constantly awake. Sleep came to him in a dream. He should be sleep to communicate with Sleep. That's how i interpreted it lol
I really hope you see this comment and think about it a bit because I feel like it might clear up some confusion you have sometimes. MY TAKE - sleep IS his ex, his toxic relationship with this person, SHE is sleep and he worships her no matter what. I think that take makes it all make sense, would love to hear how you feel on that, when you say I feel like he’s talking to sleep, she’s one and the same person.
