      isaiah baggett yes Marine Corps cadence is different. Each Drill Instructor has a unique sound also. Each recruit knows his Drill Instructors voice and type of cadence. Semper Fi.

    I almost didn't recognize M.C.R.D. except for the main Grinder. I was there in July , 1971, and we were in old metal Quanset Huts. Those new squad bays were not there. Our classes were held in old ww2 buildings. They had wooden desks, that were carved with former Marines from the 1960's who went to Vietnam. It was hot in July that year. We did two hours Close order drill every day with M-14's, and used M-16 on Qualifying Day at Edson Range. No political correctness back then. some DI's hit marines, and after graduation, you had leave, and then back for I.T.R. and bits. MCRD didn't have those new barracks or streets with nice lawns. I arrived on the yellow footprints at about 2am in the morning. Hard to believe the memories of those days, and I probably walked San Clemente a thousand times. El Camino was the only street in town. Now the whole area is built up. I got into fights in town, and survived a 115 MPH head on collision in San Clemente, drag racing in a 340 duster. Had eight fights, got my nose broken, and had a operation years later at the V.A, to restore breathing. There were lots of drugs and fighting in the barracks back then. different world, and different Marine corps. that was 46 years ago! I went through Sea School, and was stationed at Mare island, cal. Hard to believe looking back. I was 18 years old.

    As a young recruit I think I was the only one who did not mind close order drill. It has been so many years, but I recall doing "to the winds", or "the four winds". One of my favorites. It's okay, I really hated the rest of the BS especially all the push-ups I did. Or the "hours" we spent in the "front leaning rest". DI's showed no love, they just hated all of us. But the training got me through a bunch of situations including walking into an ambush. Recruit training needs to be strict and the recruits NEED to be subjected to stressful situations. Very stressful emotional, academic, and physical training is a must to produce a successfull recruirt graduate.

    Sgt Roush was my j hat in bootcamp. He is the Sdi leading this platoon. I can see how these recruits have been influenced by him. It's the subtle things they do in their movements and behavior.

    Never tire of watching close order drill. The USMC should require ALL units to conduct drill on a weeky basis. Longer drills monthly/quarterly. Would better maintain unit cohesion & pride.

    What are they saying after the DI says "forward"? Right before they say "15, 30"?

    • @bigblakk6493
      @bigblakk6493 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +King Ausar II The drill instructor gives the command "Extend, March!" The recruits reply, "1, and 3, and 5 full 30 15".

    • @username_error6969
      @username_error6969 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They were in a half step March (30in to 15in steps) because of the extend. The DI command forward is the continue the March in normal full 30 in steps (15 30)

    • @KingAusarII
      @KingAusarII 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Big Blakk Justin Fino Yea I see that in the other comments. What I mean is the company says something in between the "forward" and "march" commands

    • @username_error6969
      @username_error6969 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +King Ausar II DI preparatory command is "Forward". The Platoon response is "Click". Then the command "March" is given.

    • @bigblakk6493
      @bigblakk6493 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      King Ausar II ahh ok yea I see what you meant now, when I was in P.I. When our Drill Hat or Senior DI would give the command "Forward" we would scream the ditty "Stand tall, lean back" before he would give the next command "March"...

    • @messy13jesse
      @messy13jesse 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the beginning when they're pivoting the DI is saying close to close them up and extend to open them up. Just a different emphasis and certain syllables.

    • @Jack-uq5vy
      @Jack-uq5vy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @dominiquemiller4513 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +xxKiDDxRobotxx The command is CLOSE MARCH but the way he's saying it is CA! LOSE! Then the recruits say MARCH for him. All of them have their own spin on all of the commands. Before he says close march though the recruits yelled MOVEMENT to tell the DI that they're aware that he's about to call a command
