Wow...i swore after my first perm i would never get another one...i did not...but i wish i had someone to tell me i didnt need one. My hair is naturally wavy, not over curly yet all i have to do is pop a blow dryer in and im done...i have had so many people stop me and ask who cuts my hair😂😂😂😂😂. I have been on vacation in other states my daughters laugh it happens often. I cut my own...but i enjoy all your videos and your expertise is impeccable 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
this is the only video with all the information. Most just place them and don't explain the why's or any extra tips. Thank you for your content! I'll be coming back for sure!
I love how detailed you are, you earned a subscriber and I look forward at looking at the rest of your videos. I’m a barber whose been out of practice with perms, layers, color all that and your video shed some memories back so thank you for this. 11 minutes in but very detailed I love it
Really good teaching , I really appreciate it your details every small step , I love it so much , it clear and easy understand ! I wish you can do longer to the apply solution too !
Thanks so much! If the hair is long you can wrap them all back if you want… if the hair is really long you might consider a piggy back or spiral wrap. I have done videos on those too if you’d like a reference. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do❤️
I love the video, very great and informative. I am just confused on why you keep referring to the apex sections 90 degrees? I always thought pulling straight up from the apex was 180 degrees? please clarify! I want to be great like you :)
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoy them. When I talk about 90 degrees, it’s in reference to where I’m working on the head. If I pull hair straight out from where it grows then it’s being held at 90 degrees…. No matter where you are on the head. I have another video on lines and angles. You can check it out it may help as well. Thanks again.
Amy! I found your video so helpful! I have a question. On all my clients I had to do perm services,I had seen to two of them that the results of perm is not good. The hair did not hold the shape after the first wash. What I’m doing wrong?? They leave the salon happy with the results of what they asked for.
Hmmmm… it’s normal for a perm to relax a bit after the first wash… sometimes making the curls a little tighter will give them some wiggle room to relax. This is especially true with” body perms”. The client doesn’t want curl but they want body… if there’s not enough shape the waves will relax almost altogether. If the curls are relaxing quickly it’s likely the size of the rod. You may want to try smaller rods or if the hair is long try a piggy back or spiral wrap. Hope this helps. Thanks so much for watching. And thanks for the question!
Hi this is a great video! I saw this question and I think from my experience the issue here isn’t the wind or rods. It sounds like the neutralisation did not occur well. You can get hair to perm without a neutraliser and you’ll get a curly result. But over a wash or so the curl will vanish. In my experience when I advise on perms I always recommend resting the hair for 30 minutes between rinsing the perm lotion off and neutralising. The hair is really alkaline after the perm lotion has been applied and is flooded with water. When the hair is just blotted it holds a lot of the rinsing water. When the neutraliser is applied it either bounces off the water logged hair or dilutes inside. Giving the hair a resting period or intense towel blotting absorbs this water and makes the neutralising more thorough. This is also why air oxidised perms are so resilient. Ultimately, the more water you can get the hair to release after you rinse the perm lotion out, the more chance the neutraliser has of reconnecting the disulphide bridges in the hair.
The technique can be used on anyone but the products you choose will vary. You will need to customize this to your client. Try it on different lengths of hair with no chemicals and see the different variations of looks you can achieve. Thanks for watching!

Best tutorial for perm🙏
Thanks so much! Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching. ❤️
I’m currently struggling on this in cosmetology school. My rollers keep dropping down and i’m not understanding what i’m doing wrong.
You are a great instructor! If my client has long hair, do the first two rods on the mohawk section go forward as well?

Great tips Amy! I think perms are tied with roller sets and pin curls for the most hated by students 😂
Yes they are! 😂 thanks for watching !
Thank you so much
Very nice
Thanks
hello ma'am do u teach online ??
I only do the videos.
I teach in a cosmetology school.
how would you do this on yourself?
lol! I don’t think I’d try this on myself. Much easier on a client. I would need a few extra arms 😂
9 sections perm
How did my grandmother manage to wrap her own hair ?!
lol! I know. My nan was a pro as well. Strong arms.
didn't show us how it turned out
