Awesome video Eric. I love all sorts of machines for different operations. I'm retired now but would love to have a lathe and a milling machine just to make stuff. Making chips can be fun! I also understand how challenging the trade can be at times. I still love it all! Thanks for showing us how to use your machine!

    Hey Eric,
Tim here, chatter may also happen as ur cutter dulls, and speed of cut shud be dependent on the seat material.....ur slower speed idea is RITE ON!!!......if the seats were aluminum (hahahaha) you MUST cut at a faster speed, and feed slow, u have a good grasp of the material ur workin with!!!.....REALLY enjoyed this vid!!....and yes, haters will whine that its not a Rottler, i know, but Robbins has a great rep, and is a HIGH quality machine, diregard the haters, keep up ur attentive work, THATS what dudes like me wanna see!!!....PEACE to you sir!!

Congratulations Eric on the purchase of your New SG8 Robins.
    Looks like a great machine.
Certainly looks like a game changer.

I’ve used tap magic for chatter haha. They look super slick.

Eric I'd like your opinion on something. If you had two heads that the ports were like the short ports or two heads that had ports like the long ports which would make more power. The short ports aim to the wall of the chamber, the long ports to the center. It seems like the short ports would have more swirl.

I do mine with home made fixtures on a Bridgeport mill
I like those machines your on except for the chatter . It’s seems like all those seat cutters have the a long quill and the other attachments added just stick out to far

I'll watch the video and I'm sure you will explain this, but why this brand not Rottler or Serdi?

This company makes the seat and guide machines sold by Rottler. Rottler had an exclusive sales contract that finally expired. As for Serdi, I think you pay for a name more than anything, but some people prefer a dead pilot machine to a live pilot like a Serdi.

I'm considering getting the sg5, I do motorcycle heads now with van norman ph2000. It runs true, but micro feeding isn't one of its strong points. There are depth stops though. Have you been happy with yours? Are cutting blades readily accessible? Would you buy it again? Thanks much, enjoy your channel.

I would’ve liked to see how that whole fixture holds the head and how you put it in

There are hemispherical 4 valve/cylinder heads that had such extreme angles that I couldn't cut the seals on a Serdi ERR 101.Show me how you would do it.

I don’t do 4valve heads so I don’t know how to mount those.

The problem with that level tool is if those two or (8) guides aren’t the same exactly your head isn’t level. If I’m doing a performance job I measure each guide on the pilot.

How long does it take to do cut seats on a 8cyl. On THAT machine?

As long as you know how to do it right is all that matters...

Holly cow it looks like it takes a long time to setup and everything to get 1 head done

The end product seems to have less to do with the machine, itself, and much more to do with the machine operator's attention to detail.

I'm real glad I've seen this vid of the Robins Sg8, I'll be steering well clear of it. Way too much setup time, how could you complete any volume of work & make a profit with that thing is beyond me. It's a nice machine but looks like a head f@#k

    • @WeingartnerRacing
      @WeingartnerRacing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

It’s an easy setup. All head machines take this long to setup or longer.

Been working with this company's machines for about 15 years. An average day will see us cutting the valve seats of about twelve 4 cylinder heads a day on a single machine.
