    Peugeot is killing it on aesthetic cars lately, same for SEAT/CUPRAs.

    Nice style, although quite pricey. And what is it with the 'lacquered primer' greys these days? It's like an anti-colour that saps vibrancy from the surrounding area... Yuk!

    Do we have to cover plug in hybrids they give me allergies

    Range Extenders much smarter than PHEV. Get rid of complex gearbox and software and get the same benefit.

    Gotta commend Peugeot for going to all the effort of converting this to rhd, but the market knows best, so they'll sell (or give away) about 20. Big pug, tiny residuals, fewer sales.
    Thanks Tom for your honesty

    I agree with you Tom, very distinctive design style just a shame it's expensive. PHEV is probably a good start point for company cars until such time as EV's take over the world.

    "How can you trust a man who wears both a belt and suspenders? The man can't even trust his own pants" Frank (Henry Fonda), Once Upon a time in the West. Well, same thing for plug-in hybrids. Although it does seem (I haven(t driven it), that this hybrid is more about combining the powertrains for power and efficiency than for false practical reasons. Gorgeous car in any case!

    Excellent presentation with loads of interesting information BUT yeah which segment of the market does a 55K estate 4wd sports car fall into. Agreed they aren't going to sell many of these in the UK.

    Looks good, but anyone who thinks they are saving the planet with this type of car is kidding themselves. A BMW M340d will do a much better job and cost far less.

    As a practical car I can't see the point in a hybrid, you still have all the faff of ICE and then you have the faff of the battery on top (which is much less).
    I don't want to worry about changing the oil, filters, plugs etc, not being able to do extremely short trips because that causes exhaust to rust and acids in the engine.
    I don't want to worry about fuel prices at the pumps. With my leaf I can forget all the ice stuff, plug it in at night and drive it during the day, round the corner if I want, great.
    Looking at the 308 grey has become what was beige. Yuk!

  • @philmorbey1827
    @philmorbey1827 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really like the shape but the grey colour is so dull! Looks like they forgot to spray on the top coat! I think the range is too small on eV only you be charging it just about every time you use it to maintain that kind of mpg. Would that then save enough money at the pump to pay the phev premium? Just too expensive!

    PHEV's are near perfect cars for sales people out in the western USA. Long travel distances between clients, etc. Problem is I don't think any Peugeots will sell here ...

    "Sleepy gearbox" eh? I once (and never again) had a Peugeot with an auto box: Porshe System, they called it. Bought around 2002 if I remember rightly. More like "Dead gearbox needing resurrection every time you pull out into traffic": even after the dealer tried software tweaks it still had a resurrection time of about 1 second which was horrendous. Combined with some tacky and loose plastics it was four years of waiting for my next car.

    Nice looking car BUT I don't see the point of 55k PHEVs. There are some very good full EVs for that kind of money. PHEVs are not going to be relevant for very long with their 25 mile electric ranges. Owning this car would be like opening the window and throwing tenners out.

  • @thomasstevie

    Bravo Peugeot for making this car. It looks sensational and the interior is amazing, but why oh why make it so expensive that no one will buy it. You could get a DS 7 e tense for that money, which is more luxurious and has 399 horsepower

  • @29david

    A tesla model 3 performance is cheaper. And with better performance and range on electric mode. High risk of maintenance cost also with this complex Peugeot hybrid technology

    Nice looking typical french car if it’s like my old 67 plate 3008 the paint work will be shocking and as for build quality how long before things start going wrong and things start drop off and don’t get me started on warranty not worth the paper it’s written on and as for a hybrid car what’s the point it’s still part fossil fuel which means after they stop selling fossil few cars what’s next hybrids cars and finally at that price they can keep it 😂😂😎 good honest review Tom thanks

    This won't be seen to often on the road when you think of what u can buy for 55k so Peugeot missed out here big time.

  • @tomquimby8669
    @tomquimby8669 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well you are getting better at a being light weight car reviewer, still short on details but it's a French car so I don't think anybody with an eye on reliability is even going to glance at this car.

    • @Richard-io9xe
      @Richard-io9xe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's such a dated cliche. French cars are no less reliable than any others. I have had 5 of them and none of them ever missed a beat over a total of 13 years.
