my brother yes this video is 5 yrs old but the cutoff wheel you want to use is a METABO for that particular cut. the next time you want to use a plasma cutter make sure you're not cutting through rust that was the problem rust must be buffed or grind off ... New Orleans the pad✌
For the diy guys it's cheaper, cleaner, and faster to use a 6 inch to 7 inch cutoff wheels from local welding shop used on a 4.5 inch angle grinder. I use them alot at my job. Alot cheaper than a plasma cutter. Just make sure to use safety glasses, a face shield, and thick welding gloves for safety. Peace peeps.
I've done lots of notches,I just use a cutting wheel to start a opening top and bottom of the frame then I use a carbide tipped saws all blade a 8" to 10" and cut both at the same time clean cuts you still have to be careful, then do your finish grinding to keep them plumb, works for me.You'll run into a little issue with the car on the frame due to the rear end, lower control arms but it takes me maybe 10 mins per side to cut, then to make it look "stock" you can put a small cut top & bottom of the frame and just c clamp or heat and form to keep the shape.
As always nice work homie Just something to think about for guys on a budget or who might not have access to steel but bought the UMI kit or one of the other kits U can take the piece u cut off the front of the frame and clean it up real nice and trim it down to fit inside of the frame and weld it to the back side for some extra strength
@@Mr_getinthere thanks bro for answering answering me you're 78 Malibu g body I want to free my check so you're saying I don't have to take it off the body off
👍👍👍Looking good.I Had to do fram notch and reinforce on my gbody 86 Cutlass to tuck 28s. I can do full uturn with nun of that reversing 50 times to park in a regular parking spot. 👍👍👍
Yea man I found out about the lower lip being longer than the top. Posted that on my video too. That frame is tore up lol. Sand that down more to get good welds. With the gaps try to use slithers of steel to put inside it helps
Alright dude, I'm gonna try to do it your way :) only think km gunna try, since I have 2 frames, and the back horns on the one are shit, is going be to try and taper the frame so that it doesn't have that abrupt notch at the front and back. Wish me luck haha
2/16 😆 😆. I still like your videos bro. Keep making them. A bro I'm a Boilermaker by trade but just to help you out. When you go to do this again. Dont make a 90 on your corners because thats where you will get stress cracks at. Try doing a radius cut on the corner. Just at tip to help youre business out bro
