  • Here is my original condition 1912 Indian Boardtrack Racer that I preserved and mechanically restored. This machine runs way better than I ever would have imagined! It has many "race-only" features including the ported cylinders and the original boardtrack sized rims. There are a number of other original special features I can list for anyone interested. It is currently for sale - contact me if interested at this email:

The 1912 Indian has no brakes , those racers back then were driving the brakes ...much respect for them ...amazing guts ...it takes a lot of it , to race on what became know as murderdromes

My day-job is restoring suits of armour, more often than not 16th and 17th Century, but occasionally some medieval pieces. On the bench this week us a first-century bronze mirror.
My brief is always as is my aim lest I could not sleep: 'Leave it's story intact!'.
Mechanically conserve and stop any damage from spreading yes, replace any missing parts or rivets that are causing other 'lames' to over stress but 'Leave it's story!'
I wish the same rule applied to people too, because as I always say, 'A face without wrinkles is a book without words'.
So, this bike is a rare pearl, it's restoration is invisible and her 'story' intact and unaltered for generations to come. Wonderful to see a machine that hasn't been got-at by someone with more money than sense! Some fine museums are also guilty of this!!!
I have turned down as much restoration work as I accept, because I REFUSE to polish a 16th century armour just as I would also refuse to polish a 20th century bike.
    Beautiful video, BRAVO 🏆⚒️🇬🇧

the engines were of many different brand names but with one thing in common ,they were mostly all V-Twins because it fits nicely in a bicycle frame..some had no throttle plate or slide in the carb , but just a clear hole and you would control your speed with an on and off button ti the ignition ...later as the tracks got old was the main hazard of racing ..when riders would fall they would acquire huge long splinters impaling themselves that was almost always fatal

Of course, look at the year of that bike. How about that two stroke looking exhaust along with the valve. I wonder if they were trying to compensate for the pushrod flex?

I recently ( 5 years ago ) built a replica 1910 indian. I know I know its not original, but I built it on only pictures. It is electric, has moving push rods, blue power LEDS in the exhaust pips, a power amplifier with PI computer to send an exhaut sound timed with the theottle. I have incorperated an Harly sound ( Sacrilege I know ). I would also like to hear a good recording of the sound so that I can use it on my Indian.

It's almost hard to believe that they raced both bikes and cars on boardtracks 100 years ago. This bike is truly functional art, like you said. A bit of living history! Is this a similar bike (but earlier model) to what Burns was driving when he crashed at 107mph at the Los Angeles Motor Speedway? It's shortly talked about in the video "Welcome to the Murderdrome" by On Yer Bike.
