Romania was proud and honoured to take care of this car until it was back in the public view again. It managed to break through the iron courtain and survive thanks to some passionate people that kept the dream alive. Rescued from a scrapyard in Braila, near Constanta, raced in the Feleac Hillclimb in Romania in 50s, kept running with blood, sweat and tears for the years to come. There should be a movie made after this car's story/history...

As a former race driver I really enjoy this video.
It is sooooooo nice to hear a race car that sounds like a race car !!

Pre WW2 GP's must have been one of the most amazing things to see. Imagine the sound of 30 of this era of cars screaming around the track. Thanks for the upload!

The echo at 3:30 when revs go up, sends chill. Actually this doesn't sound like a car, it sounds like a big aeroplane and cannon put together!

Absolutely fantastic, I wish modern F1 cars would sound this good too.

They sounded pretty good in the late 70’s! I was at the USGP at Watkins Glen with Cosworth, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Matra, Maserati engines. Oh, what a chorus!

I saw this car at Lime Rock in the early 80s. The owner had just brought it over from Eastern Europe, and told me about smuggling it out in a railroad CAR. He was Starting it up on the infield circuit, which I think was just a small circle. At the time I worked for the MB ad agency (McCaffrey and McCall) and we did a feature article about it int the MB magazine, Star. Somewhere I have a picture of the car from the magazine’s layout.

It would be great to see (and hear) this car in action with a real racing driver (like Hamilton or Raikonen) driving.

Have to remember that the metal in this car is 77+ years old and probably fatigued. By the way the fuel is alcohol and nitro-methane.

it's just a shame they drive these cars like on eggshells, for obvious reasons. However, i would just love to see them driven flat out in full anger for once

I agree. Obviously we can’t expect them to drive such a treasure the way it was intended. But consider it’s Lime Rock, a very technical track, and those tires are so narrow, the fuel tank isn’t sealed and that steering column is pointed right under the driver’s chin, and, yeah, I can understand driving right down the center of the track.
