My kids are the same like yours, because I don't buy processed sweet stuff usually as well anytime we receive lollies or energy bars in the grocery boxes I get they're a real treat and don't last long! Yes, that processed packaging gets them so excited even though they get very similar type things homemade all month lol! They always hoover them, but that's fine, once they're gone they're gone and I don't have to put up with them asking for them anymore lol!

I’m looking forward to seeing your sourdough starter as I want to get away from buying fresh and dried yeast to make my bread. I find you an inspiration to be honest. I’m currently on a diet so I decided to have a go at making my own version of bread thins. After seeing your videos using semolina I went out and bought some as I have never used it to stop dough sticking. Absolutely brilliant! I made them quite easily and they didn’t stick to my rolling pin. It just shows that you can learn at the age of 67. Love your channel xx
The semolina is great isn't it! I love it, the dough just doesn't suck it up so it stays there, and it makes a crispy coating too! Some people use rice flour, but I find that really messy :D. I'm collating the starter video it might just take me a day or two to get it fully voiced over, its a hard one for me to do without having spoken whilst doing stuff lol! Fitting it all together! :D
Any rain is good rain! Slow and steady is good for it making it into the tank too, if its too hard it bounces out the gutters and we don't get it in the tank!
It's always got a few things that tweak the menu for the rest of the time! and whilst we don't buy bread, we do appreciate getting it in the hamper for some easy meals hehe.
Terrific hamper with some pre prepared food which can take a bit of pressure off you for a short time. Nice haul of fresh veg in small enough quantities which aren't overwhelming.
Oh lovely thanks for sharing, I’m at the kitchen table working on pears.. making pear butter and pie filling for the shelf while a big pot of tomato, veg sauce cooks down…. That wasn’t a bad box..different from the rest… So for the sweets and kids…. Really.. you want that stuff sitting there them staring at it ..Really 🤪….🤣🤣🤣we all know how that goes… Fyi.. it’s “Dust in the attic” this is my other channel this way I can 👍 twist😉..
heh, thank you :). Mmm pears, I canned just pear pieces thinking the kids might like to eat them like that, but they're not enamoured, meh, I just mix them with other fruits and use them in pies etc! It was a little bit different this month, you never can tell, but they're always worth more than the $50 and that's the main thing! :D

Yeah, repackaged its strange, I haven't tried one yet, they have a texture of maybe a veggie pattie though, it makes it hard because I"ll cook them up knowing that they may not be suitable, so have to have something on standby kinda thing.
I have been looking for a good Mac & cheese recipe. I’ve tried so many both stovetop/oven and crockpot and nothing sadly has matched the local store’s frozen meal version (according to my kids). I may have to write to them to see if they’ll part with their recipe! 😂
Everyone seemed to like it! Not going to be much fun cleaning the pan lol, I must have had it a bit high and there's a layer stuck to the bottom, whoops!
@@OurSmallFootprint it happens! I use a dryer sheet and soak overnight and that works wonders for me for cleanup, especially in crockpots and burnt pots and pans too!

Also I know it sounds weird but you can put a light coat of mud on your pans when cooking with gas on the propane to keep them from turning black. They do it a lot in Mexico. You could probably google it.
I love corn on the cob! I might try and get the new smoker/grill/barbecue going and cook it on there! Zucchini, I'm not sure, I use it in so many things, but maybe we need to do another meal of fritters :D
I really didn't even measure this batch *blush* I will try and measure it when I make the next one so I can share, but it is very similar to a white sauce just with flavours that sort of give that depth that cheese does. Normally I would put nutritional yeast in there too but I'm out atm and its not 'necessary'
Those hampers are great value. The hampers we have purchased locally have been awful. Mouldy food and very little fresh food to purchase and the freebies are not great. The local ones are $60. Yours has great food and quantities for the price.
WE are very lucky, though when I was purchasing from location it was a little hit and miss, it really depends what they get given as to what they can provide :S
@@OurSmallFootprint absolutely. We have purchased from a location closer to Brisbane and it was much better. Most hampers we have bought really don't have food we eat, so it made it fianancially unviable for us. We gave away what was good and couldn't eat (I have multiple allergies) or some of it was not in great condition. When you can get the better quality hampers, it is well worth it.
@@kerrijones719 yes, that is what we ran into as well when we did more regular trips to Toowoomba we’d grab them there but we found that there was a lot of stuff that just went to the animals. Doing them only monthly in conjunction with the longer span between groceries has worked much better, there’s still some things that seem to sit on the shelf until I feed them to the animals, but in general we make use of most of it!
Unfortunately no, it only works on the 5 and 6, the 31 has a much different shaped bowl and doesn't have the clamping lid. - there is an upgrade offer in March for the 31, $300 off and the cutter for free, I think they have 36 months interest free offer too, let me know if you want more info (msg me on facebook/insta). Dunno if you're interested in upgrading though!

Yes, we shop every 6-8 weeks, There's some videos of our full grocery hauls, some things are more expensive, some are cheaper, it really just depends on what you are buying and where :D
What are potato nachos? Are you comfortable using gas? I don't like it. You hear so many stories of gas bottles exploding etc. I guess I may have to be a big girl and get over it! What do the kids do when it's raining?
Basically just nachos using potatoes that I roasted instead of corn chips :) leftover mince and some salsa and cheese :) Meh, we don’t really have a choice re gas, pretty comfortable with it now :D
Did you see on the news about the 5 year old who died eating those cocktail franks, she choked on the skin, her mum couldn't get it out despite being a first aid worker. Please chop them up first.

rain is so welcome! We don't have a food stamp type system here but we have government assistance which is monetary based on children ages and income etc, so we get a stipend from the government every fortnight due to there being a large amount of school aged kids and low income between D and I. We do hope to build up our incomes enough to be able to do away with it though, it gets awfully easy to rely on it! But we are super grateful, because it has been what has kept us afloat in the first few years when Darryl was unable to work and we were getting ourselves sorted, figuring out the cheapest way to buy food etc.

It's a soothing sound isn't it! Our roof has lots of leaks which makes it lose some of its appeal lol, but eventually! :D

Nice haul you got..I was thinking since you have a large family are you able to get food stamps or whatever it is called in your country..I would think you would be entitled to them since your are low income..you don’t need to answer me if I’m being to personal..Rain..oh boy the rain you so needed it didn’t you?

We don't have a food stamp type system here but we have government assistance which is monetary based on children ages and income etc, so we get a stipend from the government every fortnight due to there being a large amount of school aged kids and low income between D and I. We do hope to build up our incomes enough to be able to do away with it though, it gets awfully easy to rely on it! But we are super grateful, because it has been what has kept us afloat in the first few years when Darryl was unable to work and we were getting ourselves sorted, figuring out the cheapest way to buy food etc.
