    I agree, but the issue I have is that people breed doodles and whatnot is that the breeders breed them only for profit without knowledge of genetics. For example german shepherd was bred to be a working dog, Max knew what he was doing and he wasnt breeding any dog just because they would sell. And while brreeds like gsd, doberman etc. were bred to do a job no other dog could do, doodles get bred only to be as fluffy as they can so theyll be sellable.

      People forget that rescuing a purebred is NOT the same as purchasing a well bred purebred from an ethical breeder. Everyone I know who has gotten a dog via ethical breeder has had no problems with it until old age set in. Dogs all had amazing temperaments as well. The opposite can be said with doodles and any other purebred that is found in rescue.

    Not about the dog but how it’s bred. These designer hybrids are puppy mill dogs the majority of the time. They’re kept in deplorable conditions and people breed them poorly, resulting in behavioral and health issues. How can you assure that the Breeder your clients purchase from is reputable? So after all "My Dog can Do this " debate Nukie say and I'm putting this in quote..." Yo Dawg is a Mutt anyway..." you see Raymond aka Nukie had a SAMOYED so he thought because I really don't think he knew what it was anyway....My good Freind with hiz calm demeanor said ..." Nuke all Dawgz was a mutt at one time..." Boooooooy that set fire under Nukie, I felt for my boy Sed because him and Nukie walk to school ... I rode a bus !!!...Anywho that statement stuck with me from that point on cuz Sed was right. Now I don't know if Sed actually knew at the time or said it out of retaliation, Because I grew up around Dogs too, German Shepard, Rottweiler and Doberman and I never heard of a Rottweiler until my Uncle was giving one by a man who bred them. I honestly thought it was a Doberman mind you because of the Color pattern (Profiling like the Police) ..and that got me starting Read more about different breeds of Dogs ..I'm not an expert but I'm educated enough to know....

      Also in my experience these dogs are great all purpose pets. That means you can find one that might probably not have insane high drive and may be quite a good choice. Dogs are quite adaptable. Shelters try to do reasonable behavior assessments. Typically the dogs are over 12 months so, someone can see exactly what size and temperament they will get. Yep, shelters have great dogs! Anyway the USA claims to love dogs. We shouldn't have completely filled up maxxed out shelters! 😢 People are hypocrite idiots! They claim to love dogs. They go to a breeder not having a clue. They end up supporting some stupid greed breeder or experiment breeder. I'm not anti-breeder. I am against people supporting shitty byb breeders or worse. A reputable one will be serious about health and temperament standards. They are life invested here. The good ones are aiming to better the breed, not just mass create or impulsively produce litters. They're in this for the life of their dogs and want excellent homes, preferably other enthusiasts that will get their dogs titled. Anyway, I have dogs from both sources. Shelters do indeed have great dogs! So many interesting ones end up there only because humans failed them. I habitually look just to see what fascinating naturally selected mutts are there. ❤ That is where cultivated breeds come from. Okay, everything I just said, truth be told, getting a dog for you is a kind of serendipitous destiny. It feels that way.

    I both agree and disagree with this. Doodles fall under the same category as french bulldogs for me. They have a ton of health issues but what's worse about them in comparison to all the dogs you listed off they were bread with a purpose. Doodles are soly bread for there looks not there personality so there hard to recommend when you can't predict there temperament and needs.

    • @huskygold5319
      @huskygold5319 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @huskygold5319
      @huskygold5319 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Tundra Just because it's the exception to the rule doesn't mean it's a good exception. If bread properly and if the breeders are picky about what dogs they breed they can minimize this kind of stuff. As much as I don't like doodles I do understand that there are special needs people that need service animals that are allergic to dogs. Poodles are not good for children since they have a high energy level and are very sensitive dogs, (meaning emotionally) and kids who are allergic to dogs that need a service dog, in particular are where a lot of these dogs go to from my understanding. Other than that there just designer dogs with yes a lot of health issues. The nice thing about service dogs is they have to have a VERY particular criteria. Physically and personality wise so people who breed them as service animals have to be careful how they breed them. Generally ones from good service dog lines don't have near as many issues because of that.

    I’ve worked for a groomer for over 10 years and the one thing I’ve learned is doodles aren’t all their cracked up to be! Even their creator regrets starting the breed they have been known to have health issues such as chronic skin problems & IBS plus owners are purchasing these dogs from “$” obsessed people who don’t care about the quality of their dogs they’re selling! Also they lie to the owner by telling them they’re hybrids! Not true! Its a mutt my friend! Remember mixing any breed with a pure hypo allergenic breed like the poodle, hair type is key! Double coated breeds like labs and goldens and Burmese mountain dogs especially have no business being bread with poodles! Not to mention temperament is also a factor! We see alot of doodles with behavior concerns! But above all owner error is another thing ona separate note though of course! Owners become stingy and rude, because they don’t expect expensive grooming and shaving of their dog, because they never committed to brushing due to not being informed by those breeders that these dogs require daily brushing, or they will become matted and have to be shaved and a lot of them expect our services for cheap grooming a dog is not cheap. When you have these breeds please do your research and don’t buy doodles, PS don’t get me wrong they’re sweet dogs and great but should have never been bred in the first place just saying, but what do I know? 😒😏

    I think the issue people have is that mixed dog breeders are popping everywhere and lying through there teeth about health testing, temperament, etc. Biggest thing that kills me is when I hear “hybrid vigor” thrown around as a justification. Hybrid vigor doesn’t magically select for the best genes, selective pressures do. Meaning if they select an unhealthy dog for breeding they’re knowingly rolling the dice on the puppies depending on what the adult dog is afflicted with. It’s irresponsible and it often takes a toll on the relationship

    My grandma's dog is a super mutt. He is listed as a labrador but he looks nothing like it. The face of a pit and the colouring of a beauceron or a rottweiler. He is smart and gentle and truly one of a kind. And these days, in my country at least, mutts are rarer than purebred.

    Oh the ever beloved discussion about my Alaska Husky’s genetics and that it’s not recognized as a pure breed, cause breeders still mix in more malamute, or Siberian Husky, or what ever traits they want more of, keeps breeding the good outcomes and leave the dogs with not so good traits. I haven’t met one person that knows the complexity of breeding for those who actively competes with sled dogs, and how we call it Alaskan Huskies, but they’re still technically a mix not accepted by at least the Norwegian dog breed registry. The positive thing like you said is how little problems and health issues they have due to the constant improvement mindset of the breeders and users

    I've been grooming since before the doodle crazy,when I first started we had cockapoos,multipoos now everything is mixed with a poodle but they call them doodles now.Most in the dog world including the guy that started the breed in Australia wishes they were not a thing like they are today.The explosion of everyone breeding their poodle to anything or their "f1" doodle to any other breed and making a cute name then selling them for a insane amount to people that have no clue what they just bought.The health issues and horrible temperaments we are seeing with all these doodles is actually super sad,good dogs ending up in rescues because the owners have no clues that they just bought a extrem working dog,a dog that needs a good amount of training,tons of exercise and a insane amount of grooming maintenance

    I love the term "hybrid vigour" when you have a great "mutt," they have the strongest traits of both parents + more energy.
    maybe a bit more difficult to train, but all the more more loving and loyal.
    I have a hybrid Akita-German Shepherd female, who I rescued.
    She was bred from a fighting dog breeder, who left her chained to die bc she was the runt of the litter.
    I got her from a short-term Foster home. As soon as I pulled up to the home, we had an instant connection. She jumped right in my backseat, smiling, and never looked back.
    sure she has some dog-agression issues. But we're working through it. She's a pure guardian for my wife, myself, and our small Yorkie (who she looks at like a little brother)

    Mine's a alaskan malamute, they got recognized by AKA in 1935 but have been around long before that. There are different genes but from what I can tell she looks like the one that's not suppose to be around anymore. She is 120 pounds and about 5ft 10 on her back legs. She looks identical to that gene pool that apparently doesn't exist anymore. I think they might still be around.

    We have a schnauzer and dachshund mix, and her breed is technically a “designer dog” but her parents were not bred on purpose. Her parents hadn’t been fixed yet and her mom went into heat and had three pups a few months later, but their owners weren’t trying to get puppies. She’s a great pup (haha she’s actually four but still a puppy to me) and is only moody when she’s tired and trying to nap lol. I’ve always told myself that if I plan on getting a purebred dog, he or she will come from responsible breeders, absolutely no puppy mills or anything like that.

    The point stands but the specific example falls apart. There are essentially zero Poodle hybrids being bred by actual breeders. The reality is -oodle mixes only take away from the poodle breed. There is absolutely nothing being beneficially added. Labs and goldens ESPECIALLY since poodles are already retrievers themselves.
    These mixes are being created irresponsibly by backyard breeders and are a fad dog for people who want a poodle but think a poodle has to be a frufru dog. When in reality my pure standard apricot poodle geta mistaken for a doodle all the time because when the hair is kept uniform they look nearly identical (doodles have shirter legs and a stockier body comparitively).

    I've had dogs all my life, and the mutts have always been the best. Easiest to train, healthiest, happiest, we've also rescued purebreds and they're much more expensive to insure, less healthy and we've had to train out behavioural issues.

      Were the purebreds from reputable breeders or were they backyard bred like Doodles? Backyard breeding purebreds is just as bad with no regulation or oversight. They can be inbred with undesirable traits & personalities that ethical purebred breeders screen out.

    My first & favorite was a great dane, pincher(dont know if i spelled it right) & rock mix. Best damn house horse a girl could have. My dog used to beg for me to sit on her back so she could run off 😂 I remember climbing on her back and us running around a trailer park in Tennessee. I even remember us switching foods when it was meal I didn't like. My grandma has pics of me sitting on her and eating the dogs food, while the dog eats my food😂😂 a healthy mutt is the dog every child needs while growing up!
    Before anyone complains: She would cry and whine if I was taken off AND she would stand by the chair/sofa to signal to me that it was riding time. She was too tall for me to force her to do anything. We just loved each other and had a weird idea of fun😂😂😂

  • @bropoke6799

    The biggest and main problem right now is that most breeds that end up being extremely popular end up being overbred by backyard breeders who are only in it for the money and dont care about the health of the dogs. There aren't any breed standards for reputable breeders to use to make sure they aren't just breeding mutts with a bunch of health issues (at least not yet) so they stay away from mixed breeds like labrodoodles. Also because the public is insanely misinformed about them because of the greedy backyard breeders and then people get them and usually don't take proper care of them because they don't know what they actually need

    True what he says. He is likely displaying his client's Doodles since they're a lucrative source of revenue for his training business. Mini-doodles too? 🙄 When will this stop?
    Nothing really wrong with some of these crossbred Poodle x Retrievers. But its getting too out of hand. The originator of this crossbreed Wally Conron regrets ever coming up with this cross.
    The problem with doodles is that the breeders are doodling everything! They're like will this doodle?
    Then, the ignorant public thoughtlessly jumps on impulse getting these from every backyard breeder aiming to make a buck. That coat is high maintenance! Im sick of seeing this flood of trendy dogs coming from shitty breeders. Its irresponsible. I do judge every person with a Doodle. Typically they're a newbie dog owner, or just stupid. That's a perfect client for a dog trainer. He needs more business. They're likely to do the full board and train so here he is catering to the Doodle dingalings that can't even figure out how to do basic training on their own dog.

    Best dog I ever had was a Heinz57 from the Humane Society. She was a greyhound mix and we have no idea how old she was. So sweet. When we’d had her for 12 years, she got cancer and we had to euthanize her. But prior to that, she was totally healthy.
    Worst dog we ever had was a purebred golden retriever who came from a reputable and highly recommended breeder but had tons of health problems. We only had her 8 weeks and she had THREE urinary tract infections and vaginitis. Cost us an arm and a leg. We gave her back to the breeder because she was a 4-legged money pit.

    A hybrid is half wolf half dog, a hybrid bred with a dog gives you a wolfdog. The term you are searching for is crossbred not hybrid. You can also call coyote/dog mix and Jackal/dog mix a hybrid unless they are bred back to a dog then the result is a coydog or jackalmutt
