It takes skill to file properly... the way he was the chain tooth would moat definitely lose its shape and cutting ability

Nice One Guys STIHL chain & saw Husqvarna trousers the new Chain looks good
The rakers/depth gauges are generally way to high on new RS chain and need taken down immediately to ever cut good. If they were touched up first...It may have beaten the Hexa chain? Unless...the Hexa is following in the steps of RS chain and also needs rakers/depth gauge touched up when new also?

Been looking for Hexagon review and this was nice and straightforward. Good review
File only costs about $15
I use 404 rs in clean wood, and 404 rm in dirty wood. I can cut about 4 times as much before sharpening compared to 3/8.
Hear the difference in the motor between the 2 chains! Witch tells me that hexa chain really grabs and you need some power behind it or he was really pressing down on the hexa run.

Let's have it in the USA already! I have been running this profile since Husqvarna came out with the x-cut chain, using a fil-n-joint. It works real well for buckin up dirty logs on the landing and firewood, it stays sharp longer than round filed chain. As long as folks get the top plate angle right the rest is easy peasy with no gadgets or filing of the gullet needed. The hexa file will take the place of the round file.

Nice vid, this chain must good for forestry users I would think as they can sharpen more accurately and quicker on the hoof. For me a domestic user, I have my lovely electric sharpener which is very accurate with standard chains. I've never had much confidence in my ability using a manual file.
It takes practice, the number 1 thing is to sharpen before the chain is dull, that way you fit the file to a correct shape and get used to how the teeth should look, and how the file should feel.
both chains look the same as far as speed. how much is the hexa chain compared to RS chain and how much are the special files?
Wish they would deliver on there claims of chains and files in the USA in March like usual bait and wait by Stihl 😥

Been waiting to see someone do a review on this chain. It did look to cut a bit quicker. Is the rakers height set the same way as on a standard type chain or do you need another guide ?
Al thats a very good question. I'd think you could use a 3/8 guide ... its a question for the Stihl man. RS chain out of the box needs to be dropped 10 thou at least, as does Square grind chain. I suppose we'll have to wait and do our own comparisons.
You can use a regular depth gauge for the rakers gap is still 9/32 I think al
Nice job lads and nice looking chain, did I hear it right that you do not angle the grind 15 deg. ? The sharpening appeared to have angle to the file, no? And how much is this chain priced v's the RS I wonder? Cheers !
No you don’t angle the grind, must be the camera angle 👍🏼 it is slightly more expensive but more cost effective if someone struggles to sharpen a chain as they won’t give up and replace so often 👍🏼

I think in conclusion it is a better chain for sharpening if you struggle to keep a good edge on a normal chain.

If people just copy whatever someone did on the internet, without accesing the potential hazards i.e, doesnt think at all.. they should never be near a chainsaw nor any other dangerous equipment at all. Using your foot when you are comfortable and experienced is nothing.
Hexa ? Great in a Norwegian forest. Not so great in Australian hard woods.

Kinda like a phony square chisel grind. Just buy chisel chain. Yeah, it cuts about 15 % faster, but doesn't hold up to dirt as well as chipper chain.
Nothing holds up to dirt like chipper chain. But if you're cutting clean wood only and have issues round filing chisel chain.

Idk why Stihl is trying to reinvent a chain that is only 10 percent better for as they say pro saws . Lol . Anyone out in the field will know how to sharpen and a round file after first filling will out cut that saw . Please this is a homeowner chain . All professional ( cutters ) have chains that are hand ground or sharpened with a machine that’s far superior then trying to add a extra point to a square ground chain .
I will say the video was good and I like how they aren’t brand loyal cause them vests are nice.

This is hexagon not square. But your right that square ground has been around for a while. 👍🏼

No. No thank you. A big hell no. Stihl chains suck ass. They are expensive, I never gotten them chains. At my dealer it’s $45+ just got a 3/8 20in chain. I’m so better off buying and getting Oregon, Forester and Archer chains. They around $18-$24. Not expensive ass stihl chains
Oregon chain is currently more expensive here in the UK than the Stihl chain. I guess it has a lot to do with the shipping 👍🏼
