This is the old Finnish version of the song "I Bring You A Song", or also called "Looking For Romance", from the movie Bambi ©DISNEY.

I think I like this version better than the English one. Here, the singer isn't overpowered by the instruments, and his voice is so beautiful. While I can't understand the words, I can still tell that it's a love song because I feel it inside. And that makes all of the difference in the world

I know some of the lyrics are a little "odd" in Finnish, but this is old, classic Finnish when it comes to a romantic song, so it has a lot of metaphorical lyrics not meant to be taken as descriptive and from word-to-word (for example, "jälleen kevät kuin mieliimme saa" is a way to say "meillä on kevättä rinnassa", even if the grammar might seem a little weird, it's intentional.)

Tämä alkoi yhtäkkiä soida mulla päässä tänään ja mietin mikä ihme se on. Mietin että joku vanha suomalainen iskelmä se on varmaan ja joku klassikkolaulaja, todella hyvä ääni sillä oli.. Am I the only one enchanted by this this man's voice and the composition behind it? This dubbing. *_*
I love how, depending on each versions of the song, their is a background chorus or not. I think I like it without the chorus. It gives a more intimate feeling to the song. I also love how it's only Bambi singing, here. It gives another side that is quite different from the traditionnal format of the song ( an alleluia-like celebration of first loves). This one here is still a celebration of love, but at the same time, it's a very poetic, itimate declaration of love.
In short: I LIKE it!

WOW the first dubbing ^__^ I only heared the second, where Feline is singing too, so here it surprises me, but Bambi has a really pretty voice, and there's no chorus, it's not usual, it's so calm o__o *loves diversity*
The fact this is a solo in the finnish version is a bit conflicting to me personally, on one hand I love his vocals but on the other hand I believe the magic of the original song is just how amazing the chorus melody mixes masterfully with the two main singers. Either way thank you for posting and I hope you are still doing well over 14 years after this was posted! Cheers!

nykyiset disney leffat on ihan kamalaa 3d paskaa. Mutta tämä bambi on yksi disneyn upeimmista mestariteoksista.voi tätä nostalgian määrää! Rakastin tätä elokuvaa kovasti ja rakastan vieläkin.

Kuulun myös heihin, jotka pitävät enemmän tästä vanhemmasta suomenkielisestä dubbauksesta. Harmi tosiaan kun on uusittu, ainakin siis näin vanhempaan tottuneena. Tiedä ovatko vanhemmat kuvanauhat liian kuluneita markkinoitaviksi uudelleen vai onko haluttu uusille näyttelijöille antaa mahdollisuus päästä ääninäyttelemään vanhempiakin klassikoita. Mutta näillä mennään! :)

ONNEKSI alkuperäinen VHS on vielä tallella! ja VHS-soitinkin löytyy.. pitäisi varmaan mennä kattomaan uudelleen tää mestariteos! viime kerrasta on jo aikaa.. :)

Aika romanttinen laulu.
Kasvoin vanhan dubbauksen parissa, mutta täytyy myöntää, että hahmojen äänet (ja nimet) ovat sopivampia uudessa suomiversiossa. Mutta tämä vanha versio tästä nimenomaisesta laulusta on edelleen paras kaikista, mukaanlukien alkuperäinen ja muunkieliset versiot. Tuo miehen pehmeä ääni vain sopii niin hyvin, paremmin kuin että useampi laulaja yhtyy mukaan.

It's not actually Bambi singing the song, that's why there's no female part. Take it as a waltz they're "dancing" to.

Sun viimisestä videolatauksesta tänne on jo mennyt kauan mut onko sun mahdollista ladata tänne ainakin pari pätkää suomenkielisestä Kaunottaresta ja hirviöstä? Ainakin kapakkakohtaus ja lopputaistelu on semmoset mitkä uupuu. Kapakkakohtaus siis kokonaan siitä kun Belle jäi Hirviön linnaan, ja siihen asti kun Bellelle tuodaan huoneeseen teetä. :)
En nyt sata varmaksi voi sanoa. Mutta vahva veikkaus on Suomen paras laulaja. Eli Olavi Virta!

Tää vanha versio on kyllä ihan paras. Tosin en ole sitä uduempaa Bambia nähnyt mutta veikkaan ettei se ole yhtään tän kaltainen.
This song lacks power, the Dutch song for example has 2 singers a female and a male what gives the song extra strenght
The new Finnish dub also has female and male singers, but this old version is still better because the lyrics themselves are extremely powerful and beautiful and metaphoric. The lyrics in this make a native shiver in excitement. I can't say is the Dutch version better or worse since I can't speak Dutch, but the amount of singers doesn't automatically make everything better (which can be heard in the new Finnish dub).

The difference between these two versions is that the older version is not as straight about love and does not rub it into the watcher's face. The word choices, the word order and constructions are quite exquisite in the old version. The new one tries to use some old poetic constructions but they are a bit dull and ordinary in their execution. Also, the older song is more attached to the Finnish culture, for example:
- The words related to "love" as an emotion or "falling in love" are mentioned just once and not exactly bound to anyone in particular, but mentioned in general. The song even rather uses the word "ystävä" (= a close friend) than lover. In Finnish speaking culture "rakkaus", love, is not very often heard or used. The language prefers mild expressions overall and the rare use gives the word a high status. "Rakkaus" is a stronger word than the English word "love". If one says in Finnish "Rakastan sinua" (= I love you) it's very damn serious business that in most cases cannot be taken lightly. : DDD
- The description of nature is related to Nordic summer and is hard to translate.
