So refreshing to hear someone who says the word veteran and any new information we may not know.Veterans in any country are the true citizens of their country. No country exists with out their veterans.I get upset when veteran's needs are put on the back burner or forgotten about.Yes,i am veteran served in U.S. Air force Security Police.

All of this is on the VA website. You might expect someone could read your mind and give you what you need if you are qualified for various benefits, say voc rehab. You face the same thing with other health care. Asking questions and not expecting your commanding officer to hand you an instruction sheet is a good reminder that you are no longer a subordinate. It's up to you to investigate.

Each veteran receives eligibility documents from the va that outlines what services are available, it's the veterans job to research what they need. The VA healthcare staff do not know what the veteran is eligible for nor what the veteran needs. All the information can be found on the va website. Most Veterans are the laziest people on earth and want everyone else to do for them.

Thankyou Crystal for the information. I wish the VA office here in New York was as friendly as you. They don't have a chair to sit down, their office desks are 25 ft. from the door and you have to stand at the inside door entrance, when you walk in.

I had a knee replacement surgery a month ago. The knee is a service connected disability. I went to my local VA clinic I use two weeks ago to see primary care Doctor and to sit down with the head nurse to see what might be available for me. Saw the Doctor for about three minutes and was ushered out because of an emergency and never got to talk to him or the nurse about any benefits. Would have loved to have had someone come to my home and help me to get around on this new knee and a walker. Got NO help from them. 75 year old disabled Vet in NY State.

    • @tachyontee3877
      @tachyontee3877 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I don't know about the healthcare side, but I do know you can file for an increase of that service-connected disability. You can go online through eBenefits and file VA 21-526EZ requesting the increase. If you submit the surgical report, the VA can waive the examination and the rater will grant the increase just using that report.

If you can prove service in country and have a similar health condition definitely look into VA disability benefits. All my records are there and to go outside could cost a million buck for all the specialist and tests. 8 specialist department with 6 just wanting to keep giving me drugs but no diagnosis. The other 2 are great but can’t get to the diagnosis without at least 2 or 3 others. Generally can’t get a “House” type team. Recently had 3 departments say if I won’t take mind altering drugs their is nothing they can do for treatment but cannot or will not document a diagnosis

@@sittingindetroit9204 Congressional Representatives have employees that inquire about VA claims for their constituents as well as work on legislation and other matters. The VA must stop what they were doing on your claim to answer a Congressional inquiry. Therefore, you should first try to determine your claim status and whether you need to submit any information to the VA before requesting help from your Congressional Representative. If you have submitted everything on your end, contact your VSO for assistance: they may be able to talk to or write someone at the VA to make sure you are not waiting longer than you should be. At each stage of the process you will have to wait behind others whose claims have already arrived at that stage. Congressional representatives can help get claims “unstuck” and back in the process, which may be necessary, but often you can resolve the issues on your own or with the help of a VSO, freeing up your Congressional representative for making large scale changes on behalf of veterans. We encourage you to contact your congressional representative and senators when there is a veterans' issue you feel needs attention in your state or nationally.

I am a Veteran's Administration retiree. Aid and Attendance (A&A) is a pension and compensation benefit. Please in your video you said pension. Pension is for non service connected disabilities and is based on income. A&A for service connected benefits is a additional monthly payment. A&A for pension increases your monthly income allowed by the VA for monthly payments. There is a reason why you should indicate the difference between the 2 benefit programs.

Many law firms also do a small amount of pro-bono work also. Try contacting a local VFW and/or American Legion. You might be amazed as to what you may find and people who can help.

YOU CAN FILE YOUR CLAIM STARTING 6 MONTHS BEFORE YOU SEPARATE/RETIREMENT UP TO A YEAR AFTER YOUR SEPARATION/RETIREMENT AND IF THE VA FINDs ANYTHING DURING YOUR VA GENERAL MEDICAL EXAM, THE VA WILL SERVICE CONNECT IT EVEN IF IT'S NOT IN YOUR RECORDS. Exception to this would be mental disabilities, sleep apnea and stuff like TBI. Your records have to have those in there for those.
With that said, I really wished you would've told everyone that if they file their disability claims within a year from their discharge that they don't have to prove with medical documentation that their injuries or illnesses happened during active service. If your medical records don't show anything, it doesn't matter as long as you file it early so file your claims as soon as you get out or up to six months before you get out. The VA will send you for a general medical examination and anything they find they'll assume is a result of your service.
This helps veterans A LOT when filing for their disability claims because the military heavily discourages service members from going to sick call and as a result most of our medical files don't show just how banged up we are after leaving service, which in turn makes it hard to get disability compensation. So again:
FILE YOUR CLAIMS EITHER UP TO 6 MONTHS BEFORE YOU SEPARATE OR WITHIN A YEAR OF YOUR SEPARATION. IF THEY FIND ANYTHING DURING YOUR VA GENERAL MEDICAL EXAM, THE VA WILL SERVICE CONNECT IT EVEN IF IT'S NOT IN YOUR RECORDS with exception of stuff like PTSD, TBI and sleep apnea. Also, if you have sleep problem, GET A SLEEP STUDY DONE WHILE ON ACTIVE DUTY. SLEEP APNEA IS LIKE 50% SC.

Sorry to do this to you but I have to say this for other vets. Be very careful what you say to any of the doctors regarding mental health issues. I personally answer a nurses question before seeing the doctor (I have been seeing him for years) and he told me he was going to ask me a few questions but I needed to be very careful on how I answered them. He told me if I answered wrong, there would be police at his door within minutes, they would take me and confine me at a hospital for 5 days and raid my home. I understand everyone says to get help but what they don't tell you is the potential ramifications if you do up to including having certain of your constitution rights eliminated.

I hesitate because i do not know whom is on the level and who isn't, plus the fact, i never asked for any of this stuff. I feel its the government that should take care of all veterans, and they do as far as i know, so why are there so many of these charities trying to solitcit money from us? Its called the Community Care Program/Mission Act or TriWest, in Virginia it is only available to vets that live more than 20 minutes from the VA. It’s also available if your local VA cannot get you scheduled for an appointment in a timely manner. 800-733-8387 here is the number to inquire about eligibility. If urgent care is needed or he needs to be seen at the ER. The closest facility may be used, just make sure to call the 800 number located on the back of the Veterans ID card within 48 hours to avoid billing.
Side note: some cons to using community care is that your prescriptions that are given to you by your assigned physician has to be brought to a VA pharmacy initially. In my opinion that defeats the purpose. Also any referrals to specialists take longer because they not only have to be approved by TriWest, but in turn, TriWest has to wait for approval from the VA. And then you have to wait to hear back. For instance, I had a referral sent for an optometrist sent in mid September, it’s now November. It’s still a new program so there are many improvements to be made.

They hire on average per lawyer around 1-3 million dollars to have their lawyers sit around all day waiting for you and me as if were the meat and potatoes cooking. VA my friends is a butchers shop. Plain and simple. You want a fake 18 year old doctor with Toys R us gear work on you? I wouldn't allow my dog into a VA. My dog gets 99% better care at Petsmart Veterinarian shop than I do in the VA. Close down 100% all of the VA structures and offer us same care my neighbors have in Blue Cross Blue shield or give us death faster! VA=modern day genocide machine. Trump is full of shit!

I go to Mexico for care as a man, not to the VA like a dead dog! 100% VA free since 2015 raid on my home from the VA police crisis line trying to make an appointment for a broken arm. I was nearly arrested for making an doctors appointment at Dallas VA hospital from my home. They sent swat team to wrong address in file. Raided my nighbors home due to me being smarter than them. My neighbor got 3.5 million dollars for getting peppered sprayed constantly being called my name. You have to be 5 steps ahead of the VA in Dallas Texas. HA HA HA HA. As former VA nurse I know their every move 5 steps before they act. They are 100% predictable and comfortable being fat lazy VA retards!

chester southworth nah that wasn’t me, but yeah i stay away from there, i got my 100% and stayed away. Yeah i was looking into that because i couldn’t walk for two weeks and it took me about a month or so to get my legs back with no pain.
Yeah they just give u loads of drugs and careless to fix the problem and they’re kind of rude as well

Yeah bag of doritos is the medical staff life! Next time if you use the VA bring a fat cake with bunch of laxative in it. They will go too moo town on that cake before saying hi or thank you.

Porkchop's Papi Vet have to be unable to take care of personal needs, and require the assistance of a caregiver. And most benefits & compensation claims require enlistment during wartime period.
