I watched Steve use his Ray gun live on MTVs 20th anniversary and it blew my mind. The things that Steve does with a guitar truly are on a Rock God level.
All these years I thought the intro to "Rebel Yell" was a double-tracked riff. It was Steve using a classical\Flamenco guitar multi-picking technique. Expectations subverted! Truly an amazing player!
I was wondering why all my favorite Billy Idol songs sounded so good, it's this man. The lyrics and singing of Billy and his guitar work really well together.
I’ve been watching Steve Stevens vids lately and I can tell you two things. First, he is a fantastic player with a huge knowledge of all things guitar, amps, effects and recording. The second is he’s a lovely guy with a fucking infectious laugh. I bet him and William get on like a house on fire !
@Nino Keegan hello. Sorry to drop in on you like this but could you by any chance tell me what guitar he's playing? It looks like a Gibson Les Paul but I know it ain't and I can't make out the name on the Headstock. Appreciated.
@Nino Keegan thanks for the reply but I finally found it it's a brand called Knnags Guitar. They sound so beautiful and they are crazy expensive. He has a signature model: "Knaggs SSC Steve Stevens". Thanks again.
Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Steve Lukather, Steve Stevens and Dan Huff are the session guitarist from the 80s in the rock and pop industry, so they ARE the 80s guitar sound!
Ray gun is siiiiick. I know, not guitar playing but what-ever. Creativity and touch is what its about and Steve has them in spades! Thank you Steve, still digging your work after all these years!
Such a humble normal Dude ..and so underrated one of the best out there...he can cover any style He makes Billy Idol, no band without him..and Billy's Cool too
Ha! I was thinking the same thing! And his face isn't entirely dissimilar to Buddy's either. I almost expected him to tell a dirty joke at some point. 😄
I don't care much for shred style guitar but you can hear emotion in Steve's playing and true inventiveness. I'm a rock and roll blues but I get inspired by Steve everytime.Rock on.

I think Hes very complete guitar player; creative, smart, fab on rythm, fab on solo, great riffs, fab with distortion and also with efeccts, plays many genres, and he got the balls playing live, and seems a great guy too
@Rick Doge hello. Sorry to drop in on you like this but could you by any chance tell me what guitar he's playing? It looks like a Gibson Les Paul but I know it ain't and I can't make out the name on the Headstock. Appreciated.
@@chimainwere7306 Knaggs Steve Stevens SSC Guitar. Looks like a Les Paul with a little more flair. They sell for around $5,000 wow. My pleasure to help

Don't want to dis Steve but Eddie Van Halen did most of those tricks years ago. The Ray gun - Eddie used a drill on Poundcakel, the delay - Eddie did that on the intro for Women in Love. The toggle switch - Eddie did that on the last part of the guitar solo on You really Got Me. The beginning riff for Rebel Yell - Eddie did that on the intro for Little Guitars.
I'm fan of David Gilmour. But i like very much Steve....he is has a very good technic, an important style, much professional....and his riffs and solos are high level👍
I watched Steve use his Ray gun live on MTVs 20th anniversary and it blew my mind. The things that Steve does with a guitar truly are on a Rock God level.
Steve is a seriously underrated guitarist. Awesome player!
Nice guy, Billy is very lucky to have him onboard, then and even now....
So great to see him really really like what he's doing. What a gifted guy.
Steve is so down-to-earth. He just loves talking about: gear and sounds and music and guitars. Incredible guitar player - too. oNe LovE from NYC

Every single note this guy plays is spot on. One of my biggest inspirations of all time.

Such a nice guy! And so passionate about his craft! A true master! ❤️
Incredible and so modest.
I love his flamenco stuff he does with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, no airs and graces, just a nice bloke.
Steve is one of the best guitarists I've ever heard if not the best I've ever heard. He's the epitomy of what a true Rock Star should be

Everybody loves Steve Stevens he is so cool!!
"Hey Steve, how do you make that cool ray gun sound effect on your guitar? Um....I use a RAY GUN."
Stolen idea fro EVH
Math Guy Eddies idea was later, i think !?
@@ThePrickel Yes... Stevens did it all first. And better ;)
Steve Stevens: bad ass guitar. Thanks for sharing all your tricks !!!!
Steve Stevens is the man! So underated!!!
He's the greatest !! What a legend !
This guy is soooo honest to himself.. love him..x
Steve should always be considered one of the greats. As good as Van Halen or Rhoads in myopinion.
He's better.
I read in a 1990 interview with Eddie Van Halen that he said he couldn't sound like Steve Stevens even if he tried to.
Agree but if you want to talk good you got to throw angus young in the mix
Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Steve Lukather, Steve Stevens and Dan Huff are the session guitarist from the 80s in the rock and pop industry, so they ARE the 80s guitar sound!
For me much better. Hes very versatile. Plays flamenco in other things....Out of this world
Heard him play for Billy Idol in Memphis in 1984, blown away then, and now !
badass with the ray gun
Master Steve Stevens opens up new horizon in guitar playin'... very creative indeed~
@@mattma96 have you heard Coming For You -Ric Ocasek?

One of the all time great rock and roll players; voice sounds like Buddy Hackett. I love it.

Buddy Hackett or Eddie Money. Lol. Think he’s wearing a wig??? 😁

I can't wait to play like this legend. I've been practicing, but need to be a lot more studious if I'm gonna rip out tricks on TH-cam some day lol
The man, the myth, the...raygun? Genius!
Just awesome
I love this guy and his attitude....so down to hearth...thanks for that, man!

Greatest guitar player I’ve seen
Bad ass man, heard his solo with the ray gun from a king biskit show recoded at the king dome way long ago.
Actually knows to open things up and tweak circuits that alone speaks volumes.
Eu adoro a versatilidade desse cara um dos melhores
Everything he plays sounds awesome
What a down to earth guy! I like him for that alone, never mind his mastery of the guitar!
Right on Steve. Good tasty licks
Love this guy!
The white wedding video really showed the world how great of a player you are I love watching you play!!
consummate professional and down to earth this legend.

Are those vintage ray guns true bypass?
Wow, always wondered what that sound was in the solo to “look in her eyes” 15/16 years later I’m brought to this video
Awesome!
Saw the Rebel Yell tour, Billy was in his prime and Steve was absolutely savage on stage. Put on a wailing clinic like few before or after
