I love that you compare multiple speakers in the same category to truly showcase the difference, even though there is YT compression, I trust my ears! Sony is good but the boombox just sounded more alive, if that means anything. I'm currently trying to find a speaker that has great sound and portable enough to take to a friends house and I believe that to be the JBL Charge Series. The video titled : Should I wait for the Charge 6 : had a lot of emphasis in my decision to just wait! Its been 3-4 years, the Charge 6 is way overdue! You even said the Charge 5 is your "FAVORITE" speaker and I whole-heartedly agree. Plus with the recent addition of the Wifi version, I believe it will have "both" Wifi and Auracast. Who wants something obsolete? that isn't compatible with the latest lineup. Also, this will be my "first" Bluetooth speaker purchase from any brand and you almost had me with your Ult 1 review, the speaker even went on sale at Best Buy for 100$ for 30 dollars OFF! it should have been a no-brainer. But still I resisted the temptation and decided to wait for the JBL Charge 6, cause I want a little more "PUNCH" The Flip 7 and Charge 6 even got leaked in the Martin Garrix/Roblox JBL video, I just don't like introduction of the new color they introduced "Funky Black"

To my ears the BB3 sounds better too; the Sony might have more bass but I like the BB3’s sharper rendering of the music. Honestly the vocal rendition on the X4 is pretty good too; it just lacks some of the authority of the bigger speakers.

Still going for extreme 4, it's still easier to carry around than those two other monsters... Had extreme 2 and it was easy to take with for camping and training football etc.

Nice ! I compared some jbls myself. can’t wait for the new boom box 4. You shouldn’t be so quick to turn down the smaller ones though! I now own the Xtreme 3, charge 5 and flip 6 that I compared side by side. What I can say is that the charge 5 sounds more crisp than the xtreme 3. Same with the flip 6. But, once you hit a certain volume, the charge 5 maxs out and the xtreme gets louder. Xtreme has more bass too but not much more. The flip 6 is good for its size and price compared to the others. I’m waiting for the boombox 4 to come out and I’m going to be all over that. Best thing about all the jbls is you can sync them into party mode and they all sound great playing together with each other.
I've got the opportunity to but the extreme 4 for 280 bucks. The boombox 3 I feel is better but the extreme 4 is at a better price now. What do you think?
So there is no conclusion at the end? These sound tests dont really show us anything cuz we listening to the sound through OUR speaker, not the one on the screen. So would you recommend the Sony ULT?

I appreciate this review, I got the JBL Extreme 4 for portability and traveling international. The problem with a speaker like the Boombox3 or even the Sony is the size. Some airlines give you trouble with speakers that are big.. but the Extreme4 is small enough that you can carry it with you Internationally without issues. Now, for home or going to the Beach around home, Bomboox would be much better cause the Sound quality is better. However, I agree with you that the price seems really high, and the difference of $ 100$ doesn't seem like a great buy.
The think is that Xtreme 4 is small, mobile speaker. You can do it what you want with it & fit it this one where you want. Boombox 3 & this new Sony? It's so big ones. You can't go with them whenever you want & do whatever you want. Xtreme 4 you can tske to garden, beach, on back of your bike for a trips, take over the shoulder to just crank it up a party or make your walk on woods special woth it. Boombox 3 & Sony are to big for it. I remeber when I buy it flip 6 over charge 5. Because with flip 6 I can fit this in to the pocket of My jeans, I can put that in My small bag, or have it on the strap over My hand & still don't go massive. Charge 5 is to big for that. So when I want it to upgrade I pick up new Xtreme 4 over charge 5 to make a bigger upgrade but still be mobile. Charge 5 is mono like a flip 6, but Xtreme 4 is stereo like Boombox 3. About the price of Xtreme 4? Well, all the futures & today prices. What you expect? It's high...it will get lower price. I love the sound in Xtreme 4 for it's mobile size.
Xg300 is bad speaker...i had him and he break down after half a year They couldn't fix him and for price i paid for him i got jbl charge 5 and corsair psu for my PC

I have the x3, bought it for $300 CAD (normally $450) last year and its amazing. In this video, i can say that the bb3 kills the competition by a long shot still, maintaining its status as “king”, but i would still get the x4 simply because of its perfect size. The Xtreme line-up is big enough for a party, but small enough for daily use. JBL has a great default EQ, and changing it in their app just slightly makes the perfect difference. As a person in poverty, i wouldn’t buy anything without a big sale, and its SO worth it when it is. As the for bb3, you can buy a shoulder strap for it on amazon, pretty nifty design.
JBL BOOMBOX4 is on its way Sony Ult 7 holds the title for now, if it doesn't out do the JBL BOOMBOX4 in sound , it will definitely out do it in features and versatility.

I got a discount cupon from Harman since the xtreme 3 that i had broke down a few months after warranty. I snatched a boombox 3 for $260 today 12/12/24 and i think for that price its a no brainer in my opinion. The wifi model is $680 on the Harman website. For the price i got on my boombox 3 i don't think i would pay almost 3 the price. And still i think i would probably still go with regular one since a $180 price difference isn't really worth it for most people. I just to advantage of the boombox 3 being $400 and added my 35% discount on top of that. Which brought it down to $260.

You should definitely check out my other 3 videos of the Field 7 vs BB3. In my latest video I explained what's going on in THIS video. Basically, my sound clips were not consistent. You still may not like the Sony sound, but at least you'll have a proper demonstration to listen to.
Jbl's design is superior to Sony's, and the fact that you can change the battery at any time in jbl xtreme 4 makes it a forever speaker. The only negative aspect of the JBL portable speakers is the lack of an SD card or USB flash drive and the stubborn continuation of their dependence on the mobile phone.

The ult 7 sounds like someone got their hands blocking the speakers. Mids are super muffled. Bass is ok. Competing with the BB3 that’s been out for how many years? And still manages to sound subpar is pretty disappointing
Listening on my flip 6 what i can say eyes closed boombox throws sony out of the water with astonishing detail and clarity with tight bass even if sony seems to have more bass the sound is not open and detailed like jbl🙂↔️.. There’s a reason bro JBL is 👑, and i loveeeee the review lols😅
Extreme 4 is way overpriced, It would be higher on my list if it were $100 cheaper. Gonne hold out for the ult field 3 or 5 or whatever. The other 2 are just too big.
Sony does not sound that good considering how big it is, JBL BB3, and Extreme sound very good! the Extreme put up a good fight against the titans though 👍🏻
The sony ult doesn't sound good the one thing I have notice the bass on the sony ult sound pretty weak and tinny that my own opinion. However the jbl boombox 3 sound much better and stronger deep bass.
I agree it’s not. Get two charge 5s and group them. I have every speaker JBL makes and a lot of others and the 3 is the worst value of them all. You can get a refurbished Sony XG 300 for less than $100. They are great
Not worth retail. However, if you can find one open box or refurbished for around 150 it's a great deal I think. But don't pay nearly 400 for these category of speakers lol. Either go with a Boombox level of speaker for that money or a box speaker like the party boxes imo.

First off I got to say that is an enormous dog me and my fiance are debating what kind of dog it is it would be awesome if you replied and let us know I just subscribed and liked your Channel I've watched a few of your videos I really like the way you do things here and the things that you show and debate I am a JBL fan I'm also Sony fan I love back in the day when I had to hyperbass headphones that just stuck in your ear when old-school CD players were around I'm also a JVC fan when I had the plastic diaphragms anyway it's the JBL boombox three for me at the moment as I am a little biased because I own one that seems it's very much clear to here as great highs does Sonny just seems very muddy if there's an app to clean that up to make the highest a little bit clearer I would actually say that the Sony would be a the winner it seems that the lows seem more powerful and it's more punchy... but fr fr let us know about the dog

The Sony has a lot more low-mid range but the BB is just so fucking crisp maaaan
One thing they don't do is EQ anything. You can really tweak any of them to sound like pretty much whatever you want.

Imma say off the bat, the JBL boombox sounds cleaner, crisper highs and still good bass. The Sony sounded more boomy and missing the crisp highs.

Extrême 4 sonne bien mais reste très prononcé au niveau haut medium, souci gérable par EQ.
La Sony son pas assez raffiné selon moi.

Xtreme sounds better than sony, but boombox is still the king
The ult 7 sounds like someone got their hands blocking the speakers. Mids are super muffled. Bass is ok. Competing with the BB3 that’s been out for how many years? And still manages to sound subpar is pretty disappointing

Listening on my flip 6 what i can say eyes closed boombox throws sony out of the water with astonishing detail and clarity with tight bass even if sony seems to have more bass the sound is not open and detailed like jbl🙂↔️..

Extreme 4 is way overpriced, It would be higher on my list if it were $100 cheaper. Gonne hold out for the ult field 3 or 5 or whatever. The other 2 are just too big.
In my country the Sony is 150$ cheaper than the JBL boombox wich makes it the obvious choice over the JBL

Sony sounds so cheap and hollow, the only problem with bb3 is the lower base unfazed with upper base other than that bb3 sounds way crispier

The sony ult doesn't sound good the one thing I have notice the bass on the sony ult sound pretty weak and tinny that my own opinion. However the jbl boombox 3 sound much better and stronger deep bass.

I agree it’s not. Get two charge 5s and group them. I have every speaker JBL makes and a lot of others and the 3 is the worst value of them all. You can get a refurbished Sony XG 300 for less than $100. They are great

Not worth retail. However, if you can find one open box or refurbished for around 150 it's a great deal I think. But don't pay nearly 400 for these category of speakers lol. Either go with a Boombox level of speaker for that money or a box speaker like the party boxes imo.

First off I got to say that is an enormous dog me and my fiance are debating what kind of dog it is it would be awesome if you replied and let us know I just subscribed and liked your Channel I've watched a few of your videos I really like the way you do things here and the things that you show and debate I am a JBL fan I'm also Sony fan I love back in the day when I had to hyperbass headphones that just stuck in your ear when old-school CD players were around I'm also a JVC fan when I had the plastic diaphragms anyway it's the JBL boombox three for me at the moment as I am a little biased because I own one that seems it's very much clear to here as great highs does Sonny just seems very muddy if there's an app to clean that up to make the highest a little bit clearer I would actually say that the Sony would be a the winner it seems that the lows seem more powerful and it's more punchy... but fr fr let us know about the dog
