This video answered a maddening question as to why the Toyota dealership overfills the engine of my 02 Corolla with oil to about a half inch past the max mark on the dipstick every oil change; they too seem to be putting 4 quarts of oil in it when the accurate amount is 3.9! And the level never drops down to the max mark from my experience, which can't be good for the engine since those marks are there for a reason! I insisted that the dealership bring the level down after the last oil change and decided I'd bring exactly 3.9 quarts of oil for them to use in future oil changes... Thanks for the video!

The ole’ argument of pre-filling the oil filter! No reason not to in the case. Filter is oriented so you can screw it on easily fill with fresh oil. Pre-filling with oil make the dipstick measurement accurate without starting the car because you won’t lose any going into the filter. Also you won’t even see the oil light come on at all because there is no brief period of an oil issue. The engine on startup will be in the same state it was prior to the change. All of these are only POSITIVE points which no one can debate other than comebacks like it is unnecessary - more like I don’t have 30 seconds more to give?. Great video TM! That was a very clean vehicle! Jealous of that lift. Thanks !

Nice video.Yeah....don't go over the max oil level more than your thumb nail is my rule.My oil is 1-3mm above the max but it's been fine and i've been doing that for for years with no problem.I would pout in clean oil when it's drained with the sump plug off to let any dirty oil sitting on the bottom of the oil pan. That's my top tip.

Great videos. I'm doing a service on my parents (who are also czech haha) 98' corolla. It has 190,000km on it. Would you recommend changing out the auto trans oil? It's never been touched since the factory. ATF is somewhat dark but doesnt smell burnt. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

2:20, the oil drain is mounted in angle and higher than the bottom of the oil pan. That's why I always lift the front end of the car while oil is draining and I let it drain for at least eight hours. I always squeeze out almost 4.4 Liters or 4.6 US quarts of oil from my 2006 Corolla with a 1ZZ-FE engine.
Can you tell us where did you get that funnel Sir?

What would you do if the oil filter doesn't get out by hand? I am asking because it seems that no tool would be able to fit in there

Exactly like I do it on my 99 corolla, but the correct amount of oil is 3.9 not 4 qt. (not that it will make a huge difference though)

I had a fiat 850 sport coupe racer 1000 block that the drain bolt was seized when I bought it...

Buy an oil sythoner that sucks the oil out,it's handy believe me.Get a turkey baister too to get the oil power steering out.

@@tardeliesmagic I did that but you can't get the trash out of the pan...you just have to buy a new oil pan...that car was a 1971 and that problem was in 1979...car was stolen in 1988
