Wow , that is very kind of you my friend and so appreciated. That will come in handy in future planned crazy tours :) Thanks so much and greetings from us :)
WOW, what a fascinating experience. I want to thank your friend for getting you access to show this location. So lucky to see the guard positions, what a privilege. Thank you and EE so much for this opportunity to see something not many people would get the chance to. Take care and keep smiling my friends.
The reason for these empty 'halls' is that they were a part of the protection. If you leave empty cavities in the roof, bombs will explode partly in empty air and release the pressure. It's cheaper to make than having a solid concrete.
Incredible honor to have accompanied you and EE into the submarine pen. Your friend is very generous to take you in there and allow you to film. Looks totally different when you are down at the bottom of the pen looking upwards.
HH, please pass on to your friend how grateful we all are, for guiding you guys through this amazing structure, and allowing us all the privilege to see what very few have ever seen. And most especially to see such rare sights, as the corner guard position, and the whole sub pen from the bottom, the top, and, the dry dock gate. I doubt very few have ever seen it all like this, and very, very, few have ever seen the guard post , or been able to play with the shutters! Thank you both for taking the time, and effort, to share this incredible location with us. Hoepfully, the developers nver get their way, and this structure remains as it it, so be seen by many future History Hunters for a long time yet. Cheers to you both!
This had to be super special for an old submariner like yourself! That facility is amazing, and it was only one of several wow! Thanks to you, EE and especially your friend for taking us on this explore!
Hitler built this for his thousand years Reich. He meant for it to last. Even with the workers working fast to finish it, it is still standing. It’s a testament to the impressive work of people of this time. I wonder if the square cutouts in the walls were attachment point for equipment to build this huge structure? I do hope developers don’t get their way and try to destroy this historical site. Thanks to your friend for allowing you to share this amazing site.
Until 1995, a submarine bunker in Hamburg's Vulkanhafen harbour still housed three submarines. They were largely cannibalised by the British and then the bunker was to be blown up. However, this did not work out as planned. The structure was too massive. Sand was then filled in in 1995. At the beginning of the 2000s, the remains were blown up again with moderate success and then further demolished. Today, the entire volcanic harbour has been filled in and a car park has been built on the buried bunker remains along with the submarines.
I was in that bunker, Elbe 2, before the sand and demolition. I had interviewed Gerhard Thater, the skipper of the one with the bunker section fallen on its tower. I took a lot of pictures and shot video. One of these days I will edit them together and post them here.
What an amazing position! I'm so glad you had an awesome friend who gave you access to this place. The guard tower is really something wonderful to see!❤
My father was a merchant marine Ship Captain. The U Boats never hit his ship when on convoy. He wanted to be a fighter pilot but he was stuck being a Captain on a ship. Later he got a new ship and spent the rest of the war in the Pacific.I spent my life at sea never wanted to do anything else. Seeing your shows are great I enjoy them all. When I was young I spent months at Dutchharbor it was in 1960 the Navy left everything when they left after the war. I remember the submarine base there I would explore all of the old military positions on the Island. It was still mined in some places so you had to stay out. When I was fishing and doing salvage work I worked with men that were in the German military as well as for the allies. Everyone got along well they were part of history and it was a privilege to know them all.
Wow! Absolutely incredible, thank you for taking us on such incredible experiences! Please keep up your incredible work of finding everything and showing it to the rest of us! Thanks
That's one WILD building! You can just tell the walls are thick from the outside. It's more protected than buildings of government of the time. What a great video! Thanks for taking us along to see this piece of history.

Really cool to see this place and shout out to your friend for the VIP tour!! Thank you and thank you for sharing with us!!
It wasn't until you and EE went down the stairs to the bottom of the pen that I really got a sense of the size of this place. Amazing that you received permission to tour the place and were able to document it!!! That gate folds!!! Crazy!! Pics of the U-Boats in the place was great to see. Top corner visitor and the shutter moved!! Awesome! What a huge area for storage and workshops! Soldier footprints in the concrete from the construction who probably were watching over the workers as they put n the concrete, set forever for us to see! Great stuff!!
Indeed Donald this place is just amazing to experience and we loved to be there. EE was so happy to get one of his dreams come true. Thanks for your great support :)
I live in Sweden and work with heat-pumps, i was to a new customer to install a heat-pump and was amazed of the building, it was a large villa next to the sea and everything was made of concrete, the construction looked like the U-boat bunker, and when I asked about the former owner i was told that the guy was from Ukraine and had been building U-boat bunkers in Germany in the second world war!
Amazing video. To be walking where German workers were maintaining the U-boats 80 years ago. Having the blocks that were placed under the boats still there. What an experience for you and EE. The gun tower was super awesomw
I went to the massive bunker in Bremen when I lived in Germany back in 2018 and snuck into an off limits area. There was still a bunch of contruction debris left there from the end of the war just thrown into a pile. Cool to see. You should go there.

That was so great that your friend was able to get you so much access inside of the U-boat pen. It was so amazing to see all those areas especially the guard tower area. I can see why the video was so long with all that there was to cover there. Definitely a fun one to watch. So sad that it can possibly be gone in a decade due to development! P.S. Don't blame you for wanting to take the Kriegsmarine U-boat sailor's uniform item to the grave. What a great thing to have and how wonderful it was for that family to give it to you.

Wow! this is awesome and something rare to see....I hope you and Eagle-Eyes are having a great time on all these adventures.. Living History!! thanks so much for the journey
Guard corner was pretty basic but effective for MG34 and MG42's I was hoping you would go up there and you did, it takes a curious man to investigate what's behind a wall or door. In some ways the U Bunker is like a Veste with openings for shooting arrows from many angles. The war was a proving ground for German ingenuity.
Such a fantastic explore and a great follow up to a previous video to actually have a friend to let you come inside and make it come full circle ! And fulfill your dream of seeing the inside of the guard tower section too ! Because of your past service as a submariner to show your son about this must be really exciting to share with him . I also found these before as well . I wonder if on your "Off time" you and EE went Bowling and had some fun too lol . Love it , and hope all is well my friends !
The system used is similar to the Pedestrian Underpass that are under Railway Stations for getting the water out when it gets flooded. The floor is slopped to the center where there is a deep pit with what's called a submersible pump that when turned on, pumps the water out into the gutter on the street above.
I always enjoy your videos. It's so encouraging to see how EE is growing and learning at your side. I can agree that the Germans had brilliant engineers, and often good designs. But as a U.S. citizen of 72 years, my Father fought in WWII against the Axis powers. Please keep in mind that many of us have family members that were wounded or died in the conflict. My Uncle Corwin was shot down and killed in a bombing run over Germany. When I think of the enslavement of thousands and thousands of workers, the many death camps & the Holocaust; I just can't be so enthusiastic at what they built. But I always learn from your videos, and I appreciate that.
Those indentations which were seen in the side walls could be where one put lengths or wooden or steel props to shore up the boat and make it steady ? Great video 📹 and many thanks to your friend who made this possible.
Very much enjoyed this video, the heel marks , and the guard tower And they possibly getting rid of it in years to come , one word why , Hide the past , very sad
Awesome video once again. This video is so much better than watching a documentary on television. With you and Eagle Eyes we get the Raw action right here and now feeling. Great work to you both, I love it. If the Germans built it, you know it will be very Awesome Very Cool and last for a very very very long time.
I have heard that these bunkers were designed with a sort of dead space (one i think is in la rochelle) to absorb allied bombs without causing critical damage. Amazing engineering
Another one that is incredibly neat to see is the giant bunker that had been built to essentially act as a final assembly factory for the Type XXI Uboats. I don't remember exactly how many would have been in there at one time in various stages of final assembly, it was something like 17 boats between the first stage and the final stage just before they would sail out to sea. But it is a neat place to see. It had never been fully completed, and the roof has some... what you might refer to as "wartime redecorating". It's just kind of nuts how big of a construction it is. And really fascinating all around.
Thanks

The amount of concrete used is staggering.
it truly is. Thanks.
And zero carbon footprint but now if you do up your front garden your tax on it
The Germans were so officious you will surely be able to track every kilogram used, back to its source with the payment receipts.

Thank you too!
Wow! this is awesome and something rare to see....I hope you and Eagle-Eyes are having a great time on all these adventures..
Living History!! thanks so much for the journey
Appreciated and greetings from us :)
Brilliant video 👍👍
Thanks.
It was a fantastic opportunity and we loved to share that with you :)
This was a very interesting video the Germans differently knew how to build. Thanks again I really enjoyed this one.
Appreciated my friend :)
What an amazing opportunity
yes and we loved it. Thanks so much :)
Extraordinary!!! Thank you for an educational and entertaining video. Your revelations always bring surprising information to light.
You are very welcome
Amazing thank you
Our pleasure!
Love it , and hope all is well my friends !
yes such a great explore. Yes we do have tons of fun out there and even played bowling :) Thanks my friend :)
@@WW2HistoryHunter I think maybe you just might have went bowling where I think you might have . . . . . Maybe ? lol
So awesome video ❤
Thanks
The system used is similar to the Pedestrian Underpass that are under Railway Stations for getting the water out when it gets flooded.
The floor is slopped to the center where there is a deep pit with what's called a submersible pump that when turned on, pumps the water out into the gutter on the street above.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks!
Very kind my friend and thanks for being here with us :)
We thank you for sharing and be very proud of your father. We appreciate you being here and it is a honor to share with you.
Very impressive.
Thank you! Cheers!
Those indentations which were seen in the side walls could be where one put lengths or wooden or steel props to shore up the boat and make it steady ? Great video 📹 and many thanks to your friend who made this possible.
could be yes. Thanks for watching.
Superb stuff
Thanks a ton
That building was so big it looked like a movie set. Thank you for taking us along! :-)
In a way it does and thanks for watching :)
Thanks for sharing history Hunter that was a great trip a blast from the past two thumbs up👍👍 say hello to Eagle eyes
Appreciated and EE says hello here.
Incredible 😮
Thanks for being here :)
Very much enjoyed this video, the heel marks , and the guard tower
And they possibly getting rid of it in years to come , one word why ,
Hide the past , very sad
Thanks for watching.
Awesome video once again. This video is so much better than watching a documentary on television. With you and Eagle Eyes we get the Raw action right here and now feeling. Great work to you both, I love it. If the Germans built it, you know it will be very Awesome Very Cool and last for a very very very long time.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fabulous! Hats off to you guys.
Thanks
I have heard that these bunkers were designed with a sort of dead space (one i think is in la rochelle) to absorb allied bombs without causing critical damage. Amazing engineering
Could very well be. Thanks for watching :)
Your best video yet.
Well i would say we have hundreds of good videos. Thanks.
Very impressive, thanks for sharing. I found it interesting that was no graffiti at all!
So did we and we appreciate you being here :)
Very interesting video
Glad you think so!
Walking in the footsteps of heroes. Great stuff!
Thanks for watching :)
awesome place , great episode 👍👍👍
Thanks.
Always jealous of what you get to do. This time, just about as jealous as could be!!! Awesome location and video.
Thanks!
Thanks for watching.
Great video ty
Thanks for watching.
So cool amazing
Thanks from us :)
Visited the U boat pens at Bergen and Trondheim a couple of years back . Incredible feats of engineering !
Tanks for watching.
Can I have a tiger or panther please !!!! 😅
I was there last month. It was nice to see now inside too.
Thanks for watching.
