    This is such a beautiful sketch! I love your use of pencil underneath the watercolours, need to try that, although my drawings is no way near as brilliant as yours. I found you looking for info on white nights watercolours.

    Lovely video showing how things are done. I wonder what the difference would be if no graphite was used at all ?

    Lovely job! I think the yellow on pencil looks good to the eye because of the sepia representation, which always to myself looks fantastic.

    I am so surprised that no green was used and yet my eye sees green in the scene. Beautiful.

      Thanks elsa, the blues and yellows mix on the paper to create the look of greens.

      Thanks again Eva, Yes I like this pencil and wash technique, its something different to regular watercolour painting, i'm better at drawing than painting, so this method is good for me. Thanks for commenting.

      Thank you Wanda, yes I did use photo reference, It was a while ago, I no longer have the reference photo on my PC, it was a copyright free image from google, please feel free to use my painting for reference if you wish.

    When you're doing this pencil in the wash, what kind of paper do you like the best the cold press or the hot press? What works the best for you? What do you recommend for beginners of this technique?

    Hello friend! Are you paint on the pencil sketch? Don t stain the draw??

    • @smoothie77drawingpainting
      @smoothie77drawingpainting  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes I paint on top of the pencil sketch, it doesn't get stained, I use 2B pencil and watercolour paper.

    • @smoothie77drawingpainting
      @smoothie77drawingpainting  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Liz, haven't changed from W&N, just trying out the White Nights paints, they were very inexpensive and artist quality, still using W&N as my main watercolours :)

      +Maria Kellner Thanks Maria, kind of you to say. I think I will go back and darken the shadows. everyone please take a look at Maria's watercolour website, her paintings are incredible, she has invented a new product called colour previewers, check them out at www.marylkaart.com

    In my opinion the shadows are very nice, early morning shadows are quite subdued and diffuse I think. I've walked this path many times...

      +Dave Jenkel That's true about the shadows, maybe the foreground shadows are fine as they are then, thanks for the comment Dave.

      @smoothie77drawingpainting  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Steve Beard Thanks Steve, I will see what I can do regarding showing the mixes, could do a one-off video showing the palette at the side of the painting as I'm working, it would mean not being zoomed in so close to the picture, I will see if I can come up with something.

    Hi......I have tried watching you for quite a while. Your work is outstanding and I would love to learn from you. But there is a problem. You have a lovely mellow voice but,......you speak so softly that I can't hear you clearly. It's as though you were whispering just outside of range. I do wear hearing aids due to an injury that damaged my hearing, but I have to turn them up so much that they magnify every sound and these sounds drown you out. I have friends who also enjoy your work but they too have difficulty hearing you unless they use external speakers with their laptops. Their hearing is just fine. Could you turn up your microphone so that more of us could appreciate the education you are offering? I would be very grateful and I know that I am not alone. You have so much to offer us all. I love your graphite pieces and I am beginning to work with graphhitint. You use them so beautifully in your landscapes and I hope to learn how to do the same. Thank you.
