I love the fact that you get right to the point! Some TH-camrs have the gift of gab and they take way too long to explain something wasting everyone’s time. LOL? 😁
Same with recipe sites; however, I think enough comedians got on their case that they finally put a skip to recipe button right at the beginning, so we don't have to read about how X season reminds you of Y relative's Z recipe...
The remark you made about only applying pressure to the bottom zipper Was just what I needed. I watched another tutorial before yours. And I was confused what I was doing wrong. You put me on the right path, thank you.
This is great my mother used to work at Coats and Clark zipper factory in Norfolk or Newport News I’m not sure which and she used to fix anybody zipper that had a problem still have a mother-in-law and she can do the same thing
Thank you for this!! A very simple fix to do . I feel silly not to have figured it out before!!! ( My Mom was a " seamstress " in that she could make dresses, shirts, robes etc., etc. I bet she knew and never told me !!! )
I followed your tutorial and it worked well but after a few weeks I had to do it again. This time I used “DRY TEFLON LUBE”, and applied it sparingly to the zipper! It worked perfectly and made the slider close very easily and smoothly! You can pick up this Lube at your favorite Hardware Store or Bicycle Shop. I hope my suggestion helps!
I got it as an ad while looking for a tutorial on sewing furniture buttons for beginners. Like yes I do have zipper problems as well I guess I'll watch this ad and save it to a useful folder.
You just saved me fifteen bucks (and I’m pretty sure the shoe repair guy would have done the same thing and charged me that much for less than a minute of work!). Thanks!
Wow! This worked perfectly for the inside zipper in one of my Burberry purses! I thought for sure it was just broken forever! Awesome thank you for the simple fix!
I was about to replace my whole zipper on my jacket-either costly or time consuming, depending on how I did it. In less than a minute I fixed it thanks to you!!
Woohoo! We're absolutely thrilled to hear that our video helped you fix your purse. Simple fixes are truly the best, aren't they? If you ever need more assistance or have other items you'd like us to cover, just let us know. We're here to help! 😊
I have to say that I was very impressed with this video. I will tell you that I have seen other videos that were claiming the same thing you did. But I caught your video first, so I have to give you the credit. I was about to buy a new briefcase just because of the zipper. But I applied what you stated, and everything is working great. Thank you very much. GOD bless you.
I have meant to my only custom coat to a tailor or dry cleaners to fix it, one place said they couldn't. This took less than 5 minutes. BRILLIANT DIY!!!
Thank you so much! Literally took me 30 seconds to fix my expensive ski jacket. its been out of action all year but newly saved just in time for winter :) W tutorial
Sometimes a zipper is so worn that it won't maintain the proper gap and after it is pinched closed it just opens back up right away or soon after. I have had luck replacing worn zipper pulls with a new one from another zipper that is the same size. One has to be very careful to spread the pull just enough so that it can slide over the old zipper teeth and be re-pinched -but not so much that it weakens or fatigues the metal from over-bending that one time to install it. This technique works best for seldom-used zippers like those used for cushions or pillows. The replacement zipper will never be like new after the experience of being installed so its lifespan will be shortened because of that. But it might be the difference between a zipper that splits or one that holds fast on that old cushion or pillow that you don't need to unzip very often.
Thanx for your post .My purse was new and it happened after the first few uses .The fabric it's made from is indestructible unfortunately not the zipper .It's definitely worth the try and your post was informative 👍
@littlewingmyoho I hope you have success eventually. Zippers sre fairly cheap and you might try a few times with different zippers until you find the knack of it. It's not a failure until you give up
Thank you!!! I’ve been putting off fixing a favorite sequin dress for years, thinking it would be a complex sewing project; all it needed was tightening on the zipper pull! Genius!
Thanks so much for sharing! I just fixed the zip on my purse when I thought I'd have to throw it out! I watched another video where they did the same thing BUT they did not mention that you need to compress it from the BACK end of the zip and so it didn't work until I tried it your way because I was compressing it from the front. Thank you!!
I'm extremely technically challenged ;-), so I'm amazed it finally worked for me! We'll see for how long... Since my zipper was on a wallet I didn't care about all that much and was pissing me off, I also applied some vegetable oil to the teeth, as suggested in the comments. Pulling the zipper to the beginning, as somebody said in the comments seemed to help eventually. It didn't work when I was squeezing in the middle and I was about to give up. Sick and tired of Chinese crap... Thank you and everybody else in the comments who shared their experience and also gave helpful tips! 🙂
This only works temporarily in my experience, maybe because they're silver. Brass probably holds longer, I haven't tested that though. It seems like metal fatigue sets in after only one fix on the silver colored YKK zippers I've tried this with, and I was very careful.
Thank you for sharing this video!!! Saving me big $$...especially saving me from getting rid of my favorite backpacks!!👍 keep up the great work Sister 🤙
THIS actually worked!! 😃 Now my favorite leather jacket that I haven't been able to zip for over a year zips up again! Thank you!! Helmet on and off I go!! 🏍️
thank you so much , you helped me save a jacket from being discarded... I used a pair of pliers to squeeze down the fastner.... its done the job ... me and my jacket are reunited again .... thank you !! ❤
I’m so surprised and relieved this worked. I used this on my jansport backpack because one of the zippers had derailed, I used a flat head screwdriver to force the rail back into the zipper but then it started opening both sides when zipping it. But I was relieved when I did exactly as the woman said and now I got my backpack working again!
