- Don't get caught out! From November 1, 2022, the Queensland government has implemented new laws and fines for people riding e-scooters. So if you want to take a Beam or Neuron electric scooter, or one of your own, you'd better know these rules! Not knowing could be A VERY EXPENSIVE MISTAKE!
In this video: where you can ride, where you can't, how fast you can go - speed limits - and everything you should and shouldn't do when riding an e-scooter. Also how much you can expect to pay if you are caught breaking any of the new laws.

Top video mate, informational! But the way you filmed, edited and narrated this was perfect 👍
Cheers! I felt pretty happy with this one.
Informative 👍
We’ll arrive back to Brisbane with my wife Tokyo soon, thanks for all your videos ! So helpful!
You're very welcome! Wow, Tokyo to Brisbane, that's a radical change!
good video and good timing!
I was hoping to get it out yesterday, but couldn't make it in time! ☺️
Oh look new nanny state laws :P its really about money .
Yup, car fines cost more than Victoria. Double or triple $$ jumped to conclusions two years ago. Madness
Love the guy in the M7 lol
sorry do we need licence too ?
No, you don't need any kind of licence to ride.
thanks for the info - I've been saying for ages that these are truly dangerous for the rider but mostly others. To be riding these around busy pedestrian areas can cause unnecessary industry - BTW - who is monitoring the user's compliance?
Police have been issuing fines since the laws were implemented.
Awesome 👌... Great Content ... Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺 is Beautiful 👍👍👍
Thanks! Yes, it definitely is. 🙂
Summers 🥵🥵🥵 no thanks 🙂↔️
Hey what is the age limit to ride a Electric scooter?
Hey, sorry for the late reply. People 16+ can ride them, or 12-15 with adult supervision.
Thanks so much! 😊
good video, wish more people would follow the rules.
We'll see what happens if they start enforcing these new rules. All the people breaking them that I filmed were before the laws came into effect (although admittedly, some of them were already the case, like helmets and phones).
So E Scooters are just like cars, but not Bikes? That is stupid, Cyclists should have to follow the same rules as Cars and E Scooters
Exactly, they can run faster than scooters
How can I get the scooter and drive ? And how much the rate for rent it per hour ?
Thank youu
There are two companies that have hire scooters. One is Neuron, and the other is Beam. You download their app to your phone, and pay to use the scooter through that. The rates vary based on a range of factors, but you can see the general rates by looking in each of the apps.
@@BrisbaneChannel I have checked Neuron and Beam and also find anothet e-scoother. Do you prefer beam over neuron or neuron over beam ?
@@gitaindahsm3731 I don't really have a preference. There does seem to be more Beam than Neuron scooters around, though.
@@BrisbaneChannel Ah okay. I got that. Thank you for you for sharing your thoughts. I will only stay 4 days in city so still choosing the best one.
@@BrisbaneChannel Hii, I have one more question. Can we bring the beam or neuron onto city hopper ferry ?
why the speed limits on bike lanes. as i have seen bike people go much faster than 25kph. i mean as long as your not raming people and giving them enough space why this limit. i understad why on footpaths but bike lanes thats a little much.... just my thoughts, no need to string me up
Maybe I should give it a go? Love Buddy ❤️
Hello! Can i work as an Uber Eats scooter?
I don't see any reason you couldn't use an e-scooter for Uber Eats delivery work, but I think the speed limits would make it impractical, and you'd need to be using a personal e-scooter, as it wouldn't be worth it if you had to pay for a hired one.
How do these scooters get charged
Do you mean how their batteries are charged, or how much they charge for you to use them?
@@BrisbaneChannel yeah who takes responsibility to charge them either me or someone else I'm clueless
@@goofydavid100 There are people who get paid to collect and recharge them at the end of the day, and then to put them out again the next day. Or something similar, at least.
Bs. I can ride faster on my pedal bike.
Congratulations.
A couple things you have missed, fat tire scooters are banned. Sur rons are banned unless registered. I see so many people riding these vehicles in the Gold Coast. Police don't seem to do anything about it.
Started as a penal Colony now a Nany State with the full support of male and female Karen's.
i dont even live here
Watch their usage plummet
Either that, or watch government revenue increase through fines.
E scooters need to be banned on footpaths. They should only be allowed on roads. Then the goons who are stupid enough to ride them can see how they go and never harm any pedestrians
They should be registered as a vehicle, they are motorized and by transport regulations, any motorized vehicle needs to be registered with the department of transport and should have the same rules as any other motorized vehicle.
That’s a fair idea but I can’t really see it being that simple. Part of a car’s registration fee is to fund road maintenance, but an escooter isn’t allowed to use majority of those roads, due to the 50kmph speed limit.
E scooters are perfect for shorter commutes upto 10km, personal scooters are very safe especially when wearing protective gear especially because the riders are clued into the laws and regulations. Often those using hired E scooters have no clue what the laws are and wear just the helmet.
if the scooter can go fast, than sure, if it can't, its a heck of a lot less dangerous than any other motorized vehicle, its essentially a bike, and should be treated as such
Idiots ruining it for the rest of the responsible escooter owners
Isn't that the way with most things in life?
@@BrisbaneChannel just yesterday. As I was scooting home. Some guy in a scooter was zigzagging down the middle of the road. I remember yelling out. Be responsible! Haha
I visited Brisbane for the first time last week. One of the ugliest cities I have ever seen. CBD full of cars and buses and a mega freeway right along the river cutting it off from the city! People were rednecks too.
Ok go back to your perfect town then lol
Stop complaining about other people city. Maybe your city is also the ugliest city people ever visit :)
