Molly, as someone who makes clothes, it's absolutely not a toxic trait to expect good quality!! We should all be moving more towards quality and prices that make it possible to fairly compensate textile workers and away from fast fashion and clothes that fall apart after a few times in the wash. Clothes are an investment, they can have huge emotional connections for people, and we should absolutely be more mindful and respectful of that!! (While of course still striking that balance where we can retire clothes we don't fit/love anymore or are ready to be rags and not be hoarders about it lol)
I work in alterations, if you want to shorten jeans with out losing the distressed bottom ask for an original hem. They’ll cut off the original hem and reattach it at the correct height, hiding the stitch line in the shadow line of the distressing

I've learned that I have sensory issues with clothes. Now that I'm in my 30s I REFUSE to get uncomfortable clothes. Your reviews help me so much, I'm going to try out Halara. Your honesty is super appreciated. If you approve of an online brand I know it's a safe one for me. The Aerie brand has changed my life for the better, and I would not have bought any without you. I bought a couple of Halara items via an online thrift shop so no smell, but great fit (I am short). I love how once Elton saw his precious human do something slightly dangerous he would not leave her unattended. Service dogs have so much love and loyalty, makes me a bit misty.
I dont understand why halara is so expensive, im in canada also and picking 7 things cost over 300 dollars i noped out of that real quick and didnt place an order. This brand is the epitome of fast fashion, their skirts and dresses should not cost 70-80 dollars

Exactly, the cost is what has me side-eyeing it so hard. Like they might be upcharging in the hopes it'll trick people into thinking "oh, this isn't fast fashion, it can't be, because it's expensive"...which would be way grosser than if they just owned that it's fast fashion.

Am I looking at the wrong site because all the stuff I'm looking at are in the 50-80 dollar range , I wanted to buy that mesh skirt they ripped off from blogilates but not at 70 dollars I'm not. I'll buy the real thing for that price

I've seen so many sponsored reviews and even when people I trust and who say that they're being honest, getting something for free is going to influence your opinion whether you notice it or not. I appreciate your comments and this brand is exactly what I expected it to be. I knew the raving reviews just didn't make sense.

Cute or not, quality or not, the rating on Halara as an "ethical brand" is "not good enough". They are considered a fast fashion brand. Articles I've found online for this company emphasize to use caution when making purchases. These are the same cautions that were put out when Temu started going viral. Just use caution when purchasing and do a basic search of the brands you're thinking of buying. It's too easy to get scammed these days.

If I got anything that smelly from an actual store, i would send it right back no matter how much I liked the fit or whatever. It's just not worth it, and might even be a mistake of some sort, where you could just get another pair!

love this! i’m short too and i like to wear pants like the glitter ones super high on my hips and tie the strings tight in a bow and it helps with the length too! super cute with a crop or bralette

Molly if you're looking for jeans that feel like sweatpants I HIGHLY recommend Lucy & Yak. They are the only brand of jeans I will buy and they are so incredibly comfortable. There's so many styles and colors, though I will say their traditional denim washes tend to be the softest.
Plus they have overalls which she loves 👀

Finally, someone reviewing the PETITE fit!! I personally didn't like the dress, but everyone's taste is different. I'm going on a trip to Italy in the spring and am thinking of getting a few things from Halara because I am on a budget and prioritize comfort over everything!

The music underneath the audio of the video threw me for a loop, I was convinced there was a clock ticking loudly in my home, but I don't own a clock that makes a sound, but loved it, also loved the honesty about the quality, not many people say that and I just won't buy or wear something of it doesn't feel right, as that makes me feel bad in the clothes, somehow that might actually connected to that I can't see them, but the cut, fit, shape and fabric matters so much, and in this day and age I don't think brands should be able to get away with worse quality if you paid much more for it (:

I've bought a few things from Halara and the skirts and dresses with the mesh material are a consistent win. I know all materials on the site aren't equal, but the mesh is so heavy and flowy and nice - highly recommend!
I bought one of their sporty dresses as a taller autistic woman, and it was easily the most comfortable dress I've ever owned. I'd probably rate it a 7 or 8. The fabric is thick and feels high-quality, it's a decent shade of black, and as someone who is insecure about their stomach and thighs, it makes those regions look flattering, which is nice. I also like the sewn-in shorts that don't sag at the crotch and the pockets. The downsides are, the pads of the built-in bra frankly look awful. They are so painfully obvious and make my chest look super misshapen. Luckily, though, there was a simple solution of removing them and replacing them with ones that are more discreet and look so much better too. I also wish the shorts were a little longer. My thighs still rub together a little, so I typically wear a pair of yoga pants or leggings with no built-in bulk under the dress. It's flattering for girls who like to show their chest off a little, but I'm not one of those girls and I also feel like the thin straps make my arms look bigger than I like, so I also tend to wear a T-shirt or tank top over top of it. That's my honest review, for anyone who were looking for one. I love mine a lot and would consider buying it in other colors.

sort of random, but i would love to see you collab with jennifer wang! she's a fashion content creator who reviews popular brands and mainly focuses on/critiques fabrics, tailoring, durability, structure, etc (a "de-influencer" if you will). i think you guys could learn a lot from each other and teach your audiences as well, plus she's based in toronto!
great video and super informative! i'm 4'11 and prob the cheapest person alive so i've always been super skeptical about them... dunno if I'll eventually try them but if i do i know what to maybe stay away from and what are hits :)
To go with the green dress you need a slouchy long pile (eye lash maybe) fluffy cardigan to juxtapose the vans and dress.
I've been wanting Molly to try Swoveralls, partially because they aren't petite friendly, and Molly has some sway to tell brands.
I will definitely order those dark jeans in the short length. The overalls are darling on you as well.

That black T works PERFECTLY with the harem pants. I wonder if it would also look good with the criss cross pants top? The crop would show the top which you cant see so you dont know it looks FABULOUS

The glitter pair, I would just tie the ties that serve no purpose, I think it would be cute! With a black body suit or something under, just tie them though into a bow opposed to leaving them hanging :)

I just return clothes that smell the way you described. I flat out won't tolerate it and if $70 is a budget buy...no. Budget buys are $12, and I still won't tolerate that stench even if someone were to PAY me to wear or have clothes like that.❤❤❤

I bought one of those ‘sporty dresses with shorts’ that Molly was talking about, and it wasn’t what I was expecting. The shorts weren’t built in (they were separate) and while the dress fits well the shorts didn’t.

I have had that smell with jeans before and been told it is something like formaldehyde that they treat it with so it does not mold when travelling over on slow shipping ships from china.

I am from Greece and I haven't heard about this brand before. But it's a really funny name for us Greeks , because halara (χαλαρά) is an expression that means to chill out. It's a well known expression used by the people who live in the second bigger town Thessaloniki and everything there is halara. For example you meet for a coffee with friends and that meeting lasts for several hours 😂

I have gotten jeans sometimes I get ones that smell so bad six months later I still smell it and other times can’t smell anything it’s hot and miss but not all of the jeans smell that bad

I've been crushing on those waffle, pleated pants but am nervous I won't like them on me. I have two kids and have developed a "mommy tummy" the past few years. I don't want anything that clings to or emphasizes my stomach. Does anyone know if the material is compressive at all or forgiving around the waistband?

I ordered the jeans for black friday and they still have not arrived yet. I assume it's due to the amount of orders during that time but it's making me anxious now. How long did it take to arrive to you, Molly? Or anyone else?
I've ordered from them 3-4 times. It always takes a few weeks because it's coming from China and must clear customs, etc.
They should have emailed you a tracking number, and then usually once it clears customs and goes to UPS/USPS there will be another number listed that you can track.
@rach3l_lang thank you for letting me know! That makes sense! I've been checking on the tracking number they gave me but it keeps saying local delay that was out of their hands. Thats why I got worried.
Update on the smell??
I know this is an older video but i just wanted to caution you about the overalls. When you bend over to pet Elton the top hangs and you can potentially see what someone is wearing on their bottom half!
Borax is the best thing to remove the most stubborn odors from frabric.
Were the fake jeans the only thing that smelled so bad or did all of the pieces?
I have bought about 5 pairs of pants, a couple of skirts and tops from Halara and none of them have smelt. I love them. I bought one pair of pants initially as I was worried about the quality but when I got them, the first thing I did was order more. I haven’t tried their jeans yet because I prefer denim but definitely no smell with the items I’ve bought.
I want sweat pant jeans.... Does anyone know if they come in big mens?

I bought the same cords, and felt exactly the same about them. 😂
The auto focus of the camera makes this difficult for me to watch. It makes me a little car sick feeling. It looks like the camera is trying to blur the background but is also blurs hands, feet and the edges of the clothing items before they are put on. Was very distracting for me.
That being said I did still enjoy the video and watch the whole thing, just watched more as background to my hobbies. Thanks Molly for alway making entertaining videos to knit to!
The corduroy pant, with the double pleats looked like something my grand-mothers used to wear. It's an old-fashion style.
my problem with Halera, other than that it is quite a lot of money for the quality or my budget, is that everything ive felt from them seems like sports clothes and also to me looks like it. and for me that makes it a bit awkward to wear, because the fit is cute but the material looks and feels so out of place for the styles.
What I own I thrifted but it really feels like a bathing suit or shiny sports leggings, rather than comfy cotton leggings of sorts.
However I see no influencer ever talk about that and I wonder if I am the only one bothered by it

Hey Molly just so you know with the overalls when you bend forward your underwear may show.
They have tall and they have plus size but they dont have tall plus size. They are also more expensive.
I am plus size so unfortunately this video isn't for me, but I will support it for you.
I'm sorry to say Halara's "inclusiveness" does not include the 'tall' option for almost ANY of the plus sizes. Otherwise, I would have purchased those flared jeans. I even emailed Halara. Their response was essentially "So sorry, mAyBe we'll carry that in the future"

I hate to tell you this Molly, but Halera's idea of tall is quite short as in 5 inches too short. The tall sizes are only 31" in the inseam. I need a 36-inch inseam with no heals, which isn't too big of a deal because I don't go over 2 inches, but with a 2-inch heal, A 36" inseam will be looking like the floods of my childhood. Wait... no, that would be the floods of my adulthood. In my childhood, my mom would add multiple stripes of ribbons and lace to lengthen my pants over and over because I didn't start to really grow till 4th grade and stopped in 5th grade. I started following a model that is 6'3 or 4" tall, and at 5' almost 8" tall, I wear the same length pants as her. Since I get funny looks at Tall Lady shops for being so short. I am going to say most people who are shopping talls need longer than 31 inches.
honestly Molly , I would rather go to kids section in h&m and go with my height and get same thing for less price, I mean we women don't like to repeat clothes that much, so why over spend, and yes am also petite, check my height and good to go, and those clothes are all average, nothing even special, btw you look beautiful just stating my opinion
