I was diagnosed last year as BPD and anxiety after years of struggling to figure out why everything was different for me emotionally. Since then I always look for things that speak to me. I just recently discovered Meg and her music is a voice I've needed!!! Thank you for being so completely personal with your music.
The perfect song to explain how society makes us feel...love this song and want more of Meg...love her voice and her creativity is amazing. A much needed artist in this "Numb" world.
This song came out when I was in a really bad place in my life, where I felt like all control was taken away from me and that nothing I wanted mattered anymore. Hearing it for the first time made me literally cry with relief that someone else felt this same numbness that I felt. I've always loved Meg, since I first heard "Lemon Eyes" in 2015, and hearing her come out with something so raw and real that I related to so deeply made me love her even more.
I just heard this song on the radio and it reminded me that nostalgic Pixies/Radiohead vibes. I love this so much. Thank you for your music, and greetings from Russia.
Your Pixies comparison is dead on. The opening bass riff is very similar to the chord progression in "Where is my Mind" and the underlying staccato is similar to "Gigantic".
At this gym I go to I hear this song played sometimes over the intercom. Didn’t know who sang it so I memorized a lyric and googled it. Now I listen to this song everyday.
When you live you life for others, the pressures of society, family, work can be crushing. This song and video beautifully illustrate this. There is nothing wrong with being selfish sometimes. You have to take care of yourself before you can do good for others.
Just saw her in concert Oct. 6th in Chicago (on her birthday!). I HIGHLY recommend seeing her live. She's amazing live and her voice is just incredible!
When you hear the music exploding when she says the word "numb". And the music contrasts with her way of saying that word. It's almost as if the music screams for her (for you). Also the scene where she runs and the camera seems as if it's falling, I literally felt like I was falling, I felt trapped, like running was useless. Also I felt like the truth of those facts set me free. She's amazing!
At first I was annoyed at how she didn’t prolong the “numb” part but your interpretation made me realize it represents the outer voice while the music screams for her instead What a wonderful analysis for a beautiful song 💕
It took once for me to define that interpretation, and once I mean, when her song released for the first time. I can't say that words which you had just said it correctly. As if I'm singing & playing the 1st chorus, normal pose, 2nd chorus, screaming pose & 3rd chorus, crying and overwhelming pose, just like what Meg had shown in this video. Urgh, I love her and her music
I just think she means what she says and doesn't care if it could get uncomfortable for someone else. This is is her journey, so why shouldn't it be honest, forthcoming and emotional. Some of the best music brought to you by one of the best artists out there. Powerful.
My buddy turned me on to your music and we often talked about wanting more music from you. This song is bitter sweet as an unfortunate act occurred and he lost his life. Thank you for such emotional music!
This is exactly what it's like to deal with depression and anxiety. It's like you can't run from it because it's a part of you. It's every where you go, in everything you do and it's just so hard to keep going sometimes.
There really isn't a song of hers that I dont love. She describes feeling in her music that you can't express on your own. She is truly an original masterpiece ❤
Meg has grown as a singer/songwriter/musician so rapidly since her debut album. She's well on her way to being one of the greatest artists of the 21st century. Love her!!!!
This is probably one of my favorite songs from Meg Myers as well as ever, but it’s sometimes hard to listen to/watch because of the emotions expressed. I don’t know if I’d say I have depression or a chemical imbalance as I’ve never been diagnosed, but I do live a lot of my life in a numb & cloudy state. I’ve learned to live with it & even be happy at times, but it’s always an active thing I must do to not go back, & even sometimes that’s not enough. It sucks when people say that I don’t know what people go through because I’ve found a way to deal with it, or that it’s less because of that. But this really captured what I feel of that almost robotic state, the frustration of people trying to help when you’ve heard it all before & know what you need to do, or the frustration of objectively knowing what’s wrong but feeling powerless against it. Great job, beautiful song, & beyond talented artist.
I waited so long for this song to come out. Years later, it still hits like it was day 1 of release on Apple Music. Meg does an amazing job choreographing this! Many themes here, but my take is her display of trying to live a normal life without everyone’s interference. Thus making her “Numb” to life and accepting the melancholy it entails… Hits home! Her running into the hills as a last ditch effort to escape is more powerful than any words I could muster.
first time ever hearing of this artist. as someone who grew up on the sweetspot of 90's alternative rock, i hear a lot of people trying to forge that sound and something about this really just nails it, but in this effortless it was just how it organically happened way. gonna check this album out. love her demeanor, raw and honest like fiona apple w/weezer quirkiness and big beautiful anthem sized chorus. fantastic vid too.
This is a fucking masterpiece, song is huuuge and the video is just perfect, I mean, the first frame is a copy machine, it is an obvious symbol of how society wants us all to be and behave the same. This is freaking gold I'm telling ya
How did I get to be 65 years old, listen to rock ALL my life, and just now here of Meg Myers? This girl just surpassed Amy Lee in my book. Thank you to what ever brought her to my ears!
The illumination guided Meg to your radiant essence: In response to Mark, "Jesus proclaimed, 'Aren't there twelve hours in daylight? One who walks during the day does not stumble, for they see the world's light.'" Why is this significant? To understand, we turn to numerical interpretation, as it aligns with the given context. Consider the song "Numb" (a nod to 'number' via an alphabetic acronym), symbolizing being unaware or concealed from enlightenment. Converting "Numb" to its alphabetic positions yields a product of 7,644 from the letters (14, 21, 13, and 2). Engaging with the alphabet leads us to the digits within words. We observe 4112, closely connected to you and your identity. Subtracting 4112 from 7644 results in: 3532. Drawing nearer, and with your acknowledgment of the daytime's trustworthiness, coupled with your age of 65, we reduce it by the temporal grains to arrive at: 3467. Recollecting your revelation a month prior: "How am I just now discovering this?" prompts us back to the song's debut, marking its place as the second track on her sophomore album. Hence, we handle three additional figures, 122, deducting from temporal span to reach 3345. Yet, how do we approach the 12th hour despite the sum of 3+3+3+3 equating to 12? Given that L is the twelfth alphabet letter and the twelfth verse discusses Lazarus being unaware or "numb" to daylight, We delve into Enlightenment. The force that introduced Meg into your existence, thus, by the 12th epoch or the glow of my self-constructed revelation, we seek the answer: Subtracting 12 from 3345, as if the cycle of precipitation, returns us directly to you, Mr. Waters. 3333. Not really that big of a deal but I heard whisper of a track having to do with the 12 th hour . would make since given. Meg recent return from her 33 birthday walk about which was the age at Jesus baptism. Will Meg reach the final hour in her career before she decides to dedicate the rest of her life back to that which she inherited the light yet because of the darkness crowding out the light and unfortunate circumstances bringing Meg back to where she began to loose faith? We will let Little J from Smoky Mountain get out of that 12 wheeler and tell you why she decided to dedicated her music to helping people feel emotion.
I opened this video and watched it for the first time thinking it was a newly released song, I was amazed at this song that was clearly about to be a big hit! Then at the middle of the video I saw the date.. 5 years ago ! But it's not famous, this is so sad. The music is exactly what people have been asking when they ask where did great songs go. And you can tell by the quality of the video that they expected this song to be big, at least 50M or even 150M plays.
TH-cam recommended this to me in the first week or so it came out, and I'm so glad it did. I've since devoured just about everything of yours I can get ahold of.

This video is both a literal and symbolic enactment of her experience being signed to Atlantic Records, I think. The setting of a corporate office place is NOT coincidental, either. Plus the lyric: ‘Tell me how to write this, tell me how to fight this war...’
Being numb is the worst thing imaginable for an artist. They must have feelings, and the freedom to explore outside the box, not trapped in some cookie cutter template. Well done Meg. Love your stuff.

You're right.
Love the new song, looking forward to the rest of the album!
This song speaks to me on a spiritual level. I understand every word in the bottom of my heart and soul and I've never felt so understood.
Just saw her in concert Oct. 6th in Chicago (on her birthday!). I HIGHLY recommend seeing her live. She's amazing live and her voice is just incredible!
Todd Fitzgerald daaang you’re lucky, glad you enjoyed it though!
At first I was annoyed at how she didn’t prolong the “numb” part but your interpretation made me realize it represents the outer voice while the music screams for her instead
What a wonderful analysis for a beautiful song 💕
Powerful.
She has such a gift for storytelling.
The feels 😭 It's exactly how I feel about life right now.
feeling numb?
E.M. L. Same
i dont wanna grow up la la la la la la laaaaa- really felt that
🎉😂😂😂❤️🔥I love you my little prince accessories
My buddy turned me on to your music and we often talked about wanting more music from you. This song is bitter sweet as an unfortunate act occurred and he lost his life.
Thank you for such emotional music!
Sorry to hear about your loss. Hugs
i love this song so much and the video makes it 100x better
Happened upon desire and now I'm slowly working through the entire catalogue. So talented and refreshing. That kate bush cover is fire.
queen of visual imagery
This reminds me of my social anxiety... This song is amazing.
Even Tennessee? That song is total garbage.
abark I love it solely for its comedy aspect. If it makes me laugh, then I love it 😂. It's super dorky but the oh yeah sales it for me lol
Katie V Yelin shes awesome!
Meg has grown as a singer/songwriter/musician so rapidly since her debut album. She's well on her way to being one of the greatest artists of the 21st century. Love her!!!!
Those guitars are so haunting, fell in love with this track upon hearing them. Stayed for the fantastic song writing
These lyrics are so me damnn
Btw she's so good it's my first time listening to her but I think I'm already addicted wow
Love this song and album. Been a fan for years and Meg is not only extremely underrated, but brilliant.
wow the metaphors in this are endless if you think deeply enough
Excellent! Such dark beauty
Yaaaaaas ♡
I waited so long for this song to come out. Years later, it still hits like it was day 1 of release on Apple Music. Meg does an amazing job choreographing this! Many themes here, but my take is her display of trying to live a normal life without everyone’s interference. Thus making her “Numb” to life and accepting the melancholy it entails… Hits home!
Her running into the hills as a last ditch effort to escape is more powerful than any words I could muster.
This is amazing, incredibly relate-able, and the concept of the video is perfect! Love this so much Meg! xo
IDOL😭🌹her music always speaks to me. Such an amazing and talented woman
first time ever hearing of this artist. as someone who grew up on the sweetspot of 90's alternative rock, i hear a lot of people trying to forge that sound and something about this really just nails it, but in this effortless it was just how it organically happened way. gonna check this album out. love her demeanor, raw and honest like fiona apple w/weezer quirkiness and big beautiful anthem sized chorus. fantastic vid too.
Of all your videos this is the most chilling.Thank you for sharing your music, I hear you.
One who walks during the day does not stumble, for they see the world's light.'"
Why is this significant?
Given that L is the twelfth alphabet letter and the twelfth verse discusses Lazarus being unaware or "numb" to daylight,
We delve into Enlightenment.
It’s never too late!
Favorite artist right here, so much talent. Cant wait till she blows up because she deserves it.
i need more meg myers in my life, she is such an amazing artist! TY MEG
God she has such a wide range of sound.. I love her
The songs reached two millions but it deserves least two hundred millions.
TH-cam recommended this to me in the first week or so it came out, and I'm so glad it did. I've since devoured just about everything of yours I can get ahold of.
i'm so happy she made an other song!
Billie Doll me too
there are two from the new album out
Depression is such a untouchbeable theme. She did It perfectly
The total package- powerful message, great music, and sung with such passion. Keep the videos coming.
I feel so many of her emotions from her music. Truly amazing, and relatable.
❤️❤️❤️
@@megmyers I freakin love you ! 😍😘
She took me back to those good ol days of perfect rock. This song in them winter days❤
Ive never been able to describe the phsycial sensation I feel when I am anxious and overwhelmed but the people surrounding her in the video is the perfect visual for that absolute pressurized feeling.
I literally love everything Meg Myers! Everything! I play it on repeat for hours.
This is an incredible song!
Always double the volume.
Meg Myers, you are so wonderful!!! ❤
Discovered her by accident! She is not only beautiful 😍 but she’s incredibly talented too! ♥️ Can’t wait time check out other videos from her. First song I ever heard was “desire” and I absolutely fucking love it! Lol
There's something wrong with this world if this song is not a huge hit resonating with millions and Meg is not one of the most important artists. we gotta fix this.
Love your stuff.
found this song today and I think I've listened to it about 200 times straight... can't get enough!
I knew u woukd hit the big time when i first heard you a few years or so back. Congratulations meg myers your gonna be the next big thing. Just be careful who u listen to its a viscious game and no one fights fair. Jealousy and herecy. You got this i can see it in your eyes, heart voice and lyrics i knew u had it years back u proven me right i love your music and your to die for beautiful
Ah, this song spoke to me so much about narcissism. I feel for what you had to go through.
Why is this girl not in the top 10 charts !! Like come on people !
craig godfrey bc she isn’t under soul-sucking corporate record labels so thank the heavens for that!
so true and that goes for all the real best artists, they wont sell there souls for fame they use there God given talents to make it.
Like k.Flay she is another one that is so talented and unheard of and under rated . And phantogram those 2 and meg myers are my top 3 female vocalists hands down no comparison just epic.
I always feel her music deep in my soul man. She deserves way more recognition.
