Right! The green orange yellows and browns. You can spot the 70s Colour’s anywhere. Whoever had the rv before us had removed the shag so luckily we didn’t have to deal with that however there was a few pieces under the couch and kitchen sink left.
1974 wow I was only 10 yrs old when this was New..my cousin Roger worked for an RV place for 40 years and we had the best times in all kinds of rigs..would give anything to go back to those days...Thanks for sharing n I will b following you're remodel!!!! RIP Roger🟥🟧🟨🟩🟦🟪🟫⬛
Thanks! Just bought a 1972 Winnebago Brave on eBay 2 days ago and will be driving it from CA to Maine where I live. Good Lord! I appreciate the DIY inspiration. :)
That is really awesome that you will be getting to do that long of a Road Trip and best of luck. We still have so much work to do and we will continue posting as we complete things. However we have been taking a much needed break from the Winnie and just trying to make the most out of summer with our daughter now that Alberta is finally lifted restrictions and things are open. We are glad we were an inspiration to you with our DIY build. Thanks for Watching!
I spent most of my preteen years staring out the rear window of one just like yours. I am hoping in the near future to follow your footstep and restore one for myself. Thanks for opportunity to show me the lessons learned so my restoration may go semi-smoothly.
Oh I am sure you had some great memories. So satisfying to be working on vintage rvs. We have not had time lately as life happens but hope to return to her very soon. Thanks for watching!
I can't wait for the piece that focuses on the 440-3 big block!! There's just something about deep and low of the idle when you put it into R and D that just gives one a feeling of giddiness!
my 440 Dodge only gets up to 60 mph in my 75 D23 Indian,...don't care for that transmission linkage,... some folks say there several speed regulators in the system,...gonna research that,...
Yes it is defiantly a cool project but a lot of work. I thought we would have the shop done by now and be able to get the Winnie inside but its been a busy winter. However, we almost got the insulation done and then some drywall and at least by then we could put her inside and get to work. Lot's of plans and we look forward to getting back to work!
Hey!! A new subscriber from next door in BC and a fellow RVer! Restoring older RVs is such a rewarding experience. Mine isn't quite as old as yours, but she has been a labour of love, for sure. Good luck in this adventure!!
I had a 1976 Chevrolet Sierra 28 ft class A. I lived in it 6 years. I loved that little coach. It had a whale hump over the front seats for the bed above. I had a daybed sofa across on the passenger side I had an entertainment center I bought from IKEA for my TV and thing's. It had a kitchen, full shower and bath in the back. A couple of closets a few drawers and that was about it. I did have a oven above the stove and a under counter coffee maker. I traded up for a 36ft Gulfstream Sunstream Hi-Rise class A motorcoach. And I've been living in it for over 20 year's. I've made many updates and modifications. I'm currently in the process of a new exterior paint job. Maybe I'll do a video to show it and what I've done. I've put in stained glass windows, stained glass skylight, real hardwood floors in the living area and kitchen. Ceramic tile floors in the bathroom and bedroom. All new interior paint. Tankless water heater, new faucets, furnace, 2 A/C units and other things to make it my home. I'd never consider going back to traditional housing again. I used to tell my boss: Don't mess with me! I'll start up my house and drive away!
We would love to see a video of you painting the exterior; More ideas we can get the better. I always thought it would be nice to be able to just take your home wherever you want when you want.
Congratulations we love our Indian so far the build has gone smooth but we are strapped for cash at the moment and will finish it this year I’m hopping if all goes well. Thanks for watch and supporting the channel!
My good friend at Univeristy his Dad was Vice President of Winnebago, was drop'n him off on my way home for Christmas & pulled up to his house that had a horseshoe drive & 7 Winnebago's were all parked & yes a 1974 Indian was there & loved it as they were all new models. When my good friend happened to say, "oh ya they are my Dad's he's Vice President of Winnebago". My good friend could not stand them & figured growing up with them he never took a like'n to them. You have a good year model & realize just found your TH-cam Channel. It is great you gutted the inside. I hope you used copper pipe on the L.P. gas lines as mice & rats will chew through the plastic lines & that is never good. Been to Oh Canada 11 times in life. Great Country in so many ways. Look forward to see'n the full series of restoration & trips you'al took. always, Tommy :-)
Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching. Very cool that would have been a sight to see. We are having fun restoring defiantly taking longer than we would have liked but hey it’s a hobby and it will be complicated when we have spare time.
Yes they sure are a classic; we really did luck out. We just wish we had more time and money to spend on it right now; For now though she is safe and warm in our shop! Thanks for watching and we hope you stick around. Cheers
Awesome we paid 800.00 for our 72 brave M300. Lots of work; floor; roof ac complete fluids change. Tune up complete; tankless hotwater; rims and tires. Solar panel system; working on it stil; next front wheel bearing king pins. Complete front brakes and steering. Hopefully drums are still ok as drums are obsolete. Master cylinder and brake booster discontinued and only a few left. Found a guy in Massachusetts specialist on winnebago dodge chasis and has all the parts new!!
That’s awesome we are in the process of completing our shop to get it inside for the winter to work on it. Yes parts can be hard to find for theses old buses and new is even more rare to find. Good to know thx.
You should be well along on your restoration, buy now, best of luck! I have a 1975 D23 Indian, same color,...bought it in 1998. At the age of 71, I chose to keep everything as is, with the exception of replacing cushions. She is running and ready to head for the Texas coast as soon as I complete changing from the 17.5 dodge wheels to 17s. 17.5 tires are almost non-existent.
No we have not! We were not able to get our shop done and get her inside but now the snow is melted from all around her and we will be starting on her very soon. Keep tuned in for future videos to come. We still have a lot of work to do!

My family used to own a 1974 Indian when I was a teenager. We drove all over the western part of the country for about 4 summers.
That sounds like it would have been one amazing adventure. Thanks for sharing!
That woman helping you deserves a medal.
