I was a worship pastor for a decade of my life. Went through a divorce, lost my career and my faith. And for 7 years I’ve struggled to reconcile my experienced reality and aspects of the faith I know to be true. And this song covers so much of what is true for us as a society. And I just so happened to be reminded of this song today thinking about our election cycle, and daily revelations of our governments corruption. I do hope for justice that sets the world right
I love that you can take a couple of verses right out of the Bible and make a song with a great sound that's not cheesy, not cookie-cutter, and that I actually enjoy.
I was also sent here by The Spoken Gospel. Can't stop listening to this song. Just finished the Old Testament with The Bible Recap and moving into the New Testament....how appropriate this song is.
Lyrics: How miserable I am I feel like a fruit-picker who arrived here After the harvest There's nothing here at all There's nothing at all here that could placate my hunger The godly people are all gone There's not one honest soul left alive Here on the planet We're all murderers and thieves Setting traps here for even our brothers And both of our hands Are equally skilled At doing evil Equally skilled At bribing the judges Equally skilled At perverting justice Both of our hands Both of our hands The day of justice comes And is even now swiftly arriving Don't trust anyone at all Not your best friend or even your wife For the son hates the father The daughter despises even her mother Look, your enemies are right Right in the room of your very household And both of their hands Are equally skilled At doing evil Equally skilled At bribing the judges Equally skilled At perverting justice Both of their hands Both of their hands No, don't gloat over me For though I fall, though I fall I will rise again Though I sit here in darkness The Lord, the Lord alone He will be my light I will be patient as the Lord Punishes me for the wrongs I've done Against Him After that, He'll take my case Bringing me to light and to justice For all I have suffered And both of His hands Are equally skilled At ruining evil Equally skilled At judging the judges Equally skilled Administering justice Both of His hands Both of His hands Are equally skilled At showing me mercy Equally skilled At loving the loveless Equally skilled Administering justice Both of His hands Both of His hands
This song… just wow. It’s despair for the human race is so powerful, but then that ending, showing the hope and justice that comes with God is amazing!! I really appreciate that is isn’t some wishy washy happy song, that it deeply explores the pain and darkness of life. Love it so much, has to be one of my favourites.
Wow this song is beautiful. Starts with what our hands are equally skilled at, then what the Lord's hands are equally skilled at. Nothing compared to our Lord and so unrighteous we are yet he still takes our case even when with one look, we are guilty
Dear Jon, I love this song from Micah 7, it has always hit me hard when I play it, right to heart, and you have crafted your version & the music so well. One thing I've learned through meditating on the Word is that our Heavenly Father disciplines those He loves, and Christ took the punishment for our sins. Wow! May God's grace sustain you always! ❤️✝️❤️ Love in Christ, Leah
I wonder how many fruit pickers will regret refusing the firstfruit Jesus when His free gift was offered, oh so sad, to think that we tried to give, show and share His love, not the love of this world but His supernatural pure love, I have sat and cried for Him, and for them '===== now the door has closed and we will be away, ,,,, so sad,
Pippin Baker I briefly accepted him, then quickly got off track.. No matter how much I screw up he’d gladly welcome me back, for I’m the only one to blame for not taking shelter in Jesus name...
O know what you mean. I met Jesus at 42 a few years ago and wow what a treasure He is. Nothing better than knowing your Maker. I share His love everywhere but get rejected constantly. We are partaking of His sufferings. All we can do is keep loving and hope that they respond to the drawing of the Holy Spirit because their hearts are in His hands and as the water in the rivers He turns them whichever way He wishes. Proverbs 21:1

Is it me or Jon sings as if lazily and it is not easy to understand what he says sometimes due to the pronunciation. I feel that he lacks diction. Jon is very good, I like many of his songs, I haven't heard all of them. But yes, I think he should check this point. Great song btw. Greetings!

Hey Chris. Praying for you right now. That you might look to Christ, trusting He will hear your cries to Him !
I was sent here by the spoken gospel podcast. They said to listen to this song before they taught Micah 6+7.

Hallelujah :-)
Love the contrast which subtly grows to the difference of sinners and Christ!

Lyrics:
How miserable I am
I feel like a fruit-picker who arrived here
After the harvest
There's nothing here at all
There's nothing at all here that could placate my hunger
The godly people are all gone
There's not one honest soul left alive
Here on the planet
We're all murderers and thieves
Setting traps here for even our brothers
And both of our hands
Are equally skilled
At doing evil
Equally skilled
At bribing the judges
Equally skilled
At perverting justice
Both of our hands
Both of our hands
The day of justice comes
And is even now swiftly arriving
Don't trust anyone at all
Not your best friend or even your wife
For the son hates the father
The daughter despises even her mother
Look, your enemies are right
Right in the room of your very household
And both of their hands
Are equally skilled
At doing evil
Equally skilled
At bribing the judges
Equally skilled
At perverting justice
Both of their hands
Both of their hands
No, don't gloat over me
For though I fall, though I fall
I will rise again
Though I sit here in darkness
The Lord, the Lord alone
He will be my light
I will be patient as the Lord
Punishes me for the wrongs I've done
Against Him
After that, He'll take my case
Bringing me to light and to justice
For all I have suffered
And both of His hands
Are equally skilled
At ruining evil
Equally skilled
At judging the judges
Equally skilled
Administering justice
Both of His hands
Both of His hands
Are equally skilled
At showing me mercy
Equally skilled
At loving the loveless
Equally skilled
Administering justice
Both of His hands
Both of His hands
Thankyou for these lyrics.
Reading Micah 7 while listening to this gives the song a much greater impact. I choked up a little.
My life in a song after surrendering my life to Jesus. He is worthy so I count it all joy!!!
Brings me to tears every time. And I ain't one to cry.
This hits the nerve!!

reminds me of a simpler time
God is going to make it all right in the end. thank you, Jon, I don't like a watered-down version of biblical passages.
Who came here because the scripture this song is based on (Micah 7) was the daily office reading?

Micah 7 ?
Sorry I didn't get anything from Micah 7 from this lyrics...I see it contains 'ideas' from several different areas of scripture though.
Some of the lyrics are taken word for word from Micah 7 in the Bible.
@@Daniel-Tiger read Micah 7:1-8 :)
@@rbkhru yes I’ve read :) 😂 this comment was 2 years ago but thanks for following up cheers
