Oh brother, enrichment is sticking her finger in a wire box and fishing out peanuts? If they planted tall fruit trees, or laced tall trees with fruit at the upper branches, now that would be the ultimate orangutan challenge. They were meant to be off of the ground. Baby and mother should be climbing all day, not clamoring around on the ground most of the time. Mother looks horribly out of shape and very depressed. Look at her face watching people. Orangutans can actually smile. I feel very sad for her.

Picket Fence They could use some lessons on enrichment techniques from the videos made at the recue and rehabilitation centers in Borneo and Sumatra.

They are hungry zoo people. See I would have to go by Sams and get food on my way to work everyday for them. Where is this babies mama. Very strange mother not right their. Cute baby. She’s saying mommy mommy where are you?

It’s too bad that these beautiful creatures have to listen to loud crowds of people ( see the video description). They should ask people at the very least to be politely quiet around these animals.

Mama orangutan wszystko rozumie,że jest w zamknięciu, ma już tego wszystkiego dosyć...

I feel so bad for these intelligent apps. The mama is bored out of her mind. In the wild she would be busy scurrying around for food while the baby practices climbing high in the tree tops.

They need more to eat , there to skinny and seem like they don't have much energy compared to others at other zoos , so feed them .

mom looks depressed, has little interest in the baby compared to other orangutans and avoids feeding the baby. You're right that they don't look well fed

Orangutans are tree dwellers they come from Sumatra and Borneo where their habitat is in danger and many of them have been slaughtered and sold in the black market pet trade if you have them here you need to plant trees are putting some wood planks that reach high into the sky so they can climb that's their natural way they climb they make a nest and they sleep each night high up in the trees their tree dwellers the word orangutan is a word in the language of the Indonesians Bossa and it means Forest people 98% of their DNA is like ours there the last great ape of Southeast Asia they are seriously endangered because of mankind they should be sent to a school in Borneo where they can learn how to fend for themselves and be tree dwellers again
