On the last page of the rulebook is a section titled "Theme". One of the points explains why they included female characters although it's historically not accurate.
Very solid game. I was impressed at the game play of this one from the first time I played it. Im surprised not more people are into it. The BGG rank is a lso quite low.
+Reynold Reubens (“rubbit trousers beat”) The rules come with an advice section, but you will find out how to play well with experience after repeated plays ;)
+Vincent van Beelen There ARE females in the game. But I believe the rules mention that while this is historically inaccurate they wanted to include women.
+Josh Wood yeah, the rules state the cards more represent the "character" than the actor who is playing it. So Juliette looks like a girl instead of looking like the teenage boy/young man who would have been playing her character.
Not sure what it was about the tone of this review but I was waiting for a 'BUT!' that never came. Glad to hear it's a keeper!

Wow, didn't expect "into my collection" verdict! I don't see much theme in there. It reminds me more Roccoco with building dresses than a theater.
I'm really glad I took the risk and ordered this one then! Can't wait to play. The art is gorgeous

Were you recording this while trying not to wake someone up? Just curious from the tone of your voice.
Does the rules tell you how to play well?

Not in the face! :)
So much for "Long live the Queen."
everything is numbers.. didn't meet my expections.
Didn't sound excited
In Shakespeare's time all female parts were played by men. That's probably why there are no females in the game.
