I wish i could agree with you, but when i left Chicago and joined the military in '85, and i always carried my House Music with me through those years. I met soldiers from everywhere across the country, and the only place where soldiers were from that didn't look at me like I was crazy when I played my House Music was the people from New Jersey. The soldiers I met from New York to my surprise didn't have a clue.
I caught the house music wave in London in 87 , used to go to regular clubs where it was played here and there but I remember in " limelight " in west London all that was played was house music , the UK dj's took it to another level .
Steve Jackson, fantastic and sadly mostly forgotten DJ. His "House that Jack built" show on Kiss FM (when the station was worth listening to) was brilliant.
NYC was playing House Music right along with Chicago! So when it was said only Chicago was playing House Music--well they didn't go to NYC, because NYC always is up on the music scene--whatever the music is!
