- Sixteen-year-old Hannah Enge has suffered from seizures for the last four years. They come unbidden, mostly when she has intense emotions, or is under stress. But she refuses to let them rule her life and adamantly insisted to her mother that she wanted to enter the International Miss Teen Minnesota Pageant, which was held over the weekend. Behind the curtain with her mother, Hannah got back up. She didn't want to go the hospital, she said. She wanted to finish the pageant. #InsideEdition

As someone with epilepsy, I completely applaud her for continuing the pageant. It’s not easy to come out of one. Depending on the seizure, you can be out of it for awhile. I admire her perseverance 100%. I hope she won!

My 27 year old daughter suffers from seizures too. Its one of the hardest things to watch your child go through. God bless this girl for being so courageous she is an inspiration for those who not only suffer from seizures, but the families too.

joligra Grande Mal seizure, is the seizure everyone thinks of like how they drop to the ground and have muscle spasms, everywhere. If you see anyhing like a hallucination than it's a tonic-clonic, if someone tells you, you were staring out of space a bit, you have an absense seizure :/

Its down to emotions tho so a dog wouldn't work. The sezuire happens to fast and random with no signs as its instantly triggered by an emotion change

She needs to go to the hospital maybe the can help her get better because its human nature to change emotion and it'll be hard for her and I applaud her for being brave and standing back up
For the most part people with a history of seizures normally won't go to the hospital after one, especially if it was short
There is nothing the hospital would be able to do for her anyway

Hospital would probably check her vitals and tell her to quit faking it. At least stiffen your arm when you fake it, the guy was there asap and her arm was limp as a noodle. Not so easy to move someone's limbs when they're having a seizure.
Monstar A Depends on type of seizure. Atonic seizures cause you to just go limp and drop. My son has 4 different sz types, this being one.

My guy friend has seizures and I don't know when because he lives across the country. Usually he'll tell me but I haven't talked to him much recently because school started but it scares the hell out of me because we're so far apart... Props to this girl for getting back up and finishing this and speaking for people like her who don't have a voice!

I love the fact that she hopefully changed people's perspectives on epilepsy, it's such a strange disorder, however it doesn't stop us and it the way her voice quivers makes me cry every time, her determined look inspires me to fight my own condition and show people I am more than this; it doesn't define me while being open and educating people abt it.

I suffer from epilepsy and this is exactly what happens to me. Sometimes, though, I have been known to start foaming at the mouth, lose control of my body, etc. I take 4 different meds, 3 times daily. We've been teaching our daughters exactly what to do, should we ever be home alone and I have a seizure. So grateful we did. One day, I was standing at the top of the stairs, tried to move away from them, but still ended up going down all 14 stairs. We were home alone, but thank God, my daughters knew what to do. I had 6 broken ribs, both legs broken, and a very bad concussion!! You keep getting back up, and fighting!!! I'm 38 years old now and I will always keep fighting!!!
If only people truly understood seizures and epilepsy. An EMOTION can trigger a life altering seizure, not every seizure can be recovered from as quickly as in the clip. Good job girl!

I can relate to her so much because I started having seizures due to stress and severe anxiety because the school I went to was completely useless and out of control I have non epileptic seizure disorder I'm 16 it's made me life hell I'm constantly exhausted I'm out of school I've lost my friends I can sometimes have up to four seizures a day it takes the life out of me but my parents and boyfriend Callum have been by my side through the two and half years of all this I'm lucky to have them it's hard but I'm trying to fight this everyday of my life

Her seizure is like mine, except I get a warning. Headache, sick at my stomach, dizziness, shaking, and weakness first. I hope she won. I was in the 5th grade when mine started. My worry is about getting old, and my bones becoming fragile. More so for me, because when I had cancer I had to go through chemo, and radiation treatments. Yuck

I’ve had epilepsy since I was a child and I used to have a seizure every time I sneezed or had had a shift in emotion as well. The seizures changed over the years and have gotten less intense so hold your head up girl! You continued on and didn’t let epilepsy take that very special moment from you and looked beautiful doing it!
