One of the most egregious acts is when he married Janelle, who was Meri’s ex- sister in law. Just a couple years prior, maybe one year, Janelle divorced Meri’s brother Adam. Then when Kody and Janelle were to wed they (or he) planned the wedding on Meri’s birthday! Kodys mom had to talk him into moving the wedding the day after Meri’s birthday. In the talk back Jody said he engaged in polygamy to escape Meri’s company….it’s clear that he used polygamy to escape the emotional responsibilities of being a husband. He was a sick long before Robyn but then his neglect became more than emotional and surpassed more than the wives. He began to physically neglect all of them AND the children, which began to infuriate the other wives.

Robyn always pretended that she had her sister wives best interests at heart regarding their relationships with Kody, even saying it to the cameras, but I remember her complaining and saying she didn’t trust some of them with her relationship with Kody. I find that people like Robyn always accuse others of the very thing they are actually doing. She’s suspicious because she knows she only cares about her position in Kody’s affections and about getting what she wants and needs. The whole stalling thing where Kody was at Robyn’s house when he should never have left Christine’s side at the hospital (have somebody else go run the errand) and Robyn was trying to keep him there was disgusting and selfish. And when Christine, who had just had a baby, asked Robyn if she honestly felt like she needed an almost two week honeymoon, Christine was trusting that Robyn would be honest and that she could see what a difficult time it would be for her left at home with a new baby and all the kids with Janelle and Meri working. So when Robyn said yes she felt she needed it, I could see in that moment that Christine was willing to trust Robyn and make the sacrifice and so she unselfishly went along with it. Big mistake! Knowing what we know now, it just makes me mad that Robyn manipulated everybody in that situation and that she was so selfish, only thinking about her own pleasure and she has continued to be selfish. Having had 6 kids myself I know how difficult it can be to get adjusted at home with a newborn especially with a lot of kids and I had a couple of babies with colic. I loved bringing all my babies home and I adore them all but taking care of everybody and recovering from birth is a lot and I had a lot of issues with my hormones, as do a lot of women when their bodies are readjusting after giving birth. Add in breastfeeding and it’s a lot. The more I think about what Robyn did all those years ago, the angrier I get. I think everything Robyn did before the wedding was a red flag. I remember reading their Becoming Sister Wives book and Janelle and Christine had the Robyn courtship dumped on them after it had already started, which was wrong. And when they said no, we’re not doing this, Kody moped around and cried of a broken heart because he was already in love. Imagine being the wife in a plural family that says no way to your spouse when he is “love sick,” to quote Christine. She felt like she had been bamboozled and had to say yes or Kody might be upset with her and she could lose the relationship. What Kody, Meri, and Robyn did was underhanded because it was supposed to be a decision for all of them to make about courting another spouse. The whole Robyn thing started out in a way it should not have and it was always going to be the dark cloud hanging over everything with all the wives and kids.
One day, Kody will tire of Robin, then, he'll be on the prowl again but, age is going to catch up to him and there is not that many women who will find him attractive or wish to spend their married life with other women in the family and baby sit all the kids.

Christine was the favourite. With the catfish issue Christine couldn't understand what Meri was going through. Christine was nasty to Meri. She didn't understand the jealousy and the sacrifice that the first wife had to go through. When it happened to her she left. I hate Kody and I think he is a neglectful parent but Robyn needed his time as well. Christine had all the attention for so many years so it's natural that Robyn gets more time. Kody found his soulmate in Robyn. He wants monogamy and Robyn wants Kody to show how much he loves Robyn by saying he wasn't attracted to Christine.
I think Meri’s difficulty with fertility made Kody ignore her more. I also think Kody intentionally alienated wives when they didn’t do what he wanted without question. I also think he liked sowing seeds of discontent amongst the wives because it made them closer to him rather than each other. I distinctly remember an episode where Christine was talking about being close to the other wives. Kody furrowed his eyebrows and says, “wait, do you feel at any point feel closer to the other wives than you do me?” It’s all him.
Oh then after Kody acquired Robyn, he didn’t pay attention to any of the wives…at that point there was no hope for Meri. That’s when her catfish incident happened. Kody was done with her after that.
Kody was besotted by Robyn, behaved very differently around her and it's obvious, for him, she replaced the other three wives completely, in every way. That has eventually broken everything.

I don't even keep up with the show but just from this clip, it sounds like Kody purposely got Christine a bunch of gifts that Christmas and not one for Meri to make Meri feel bad about herself, manipulation tactic... Especially if Christine was #2, this behavior could have been more revealing of his true nature right from the start. Possibly he's more concerned with his narcissistic fulfillment of multiple wives and a large family that he is in control of, versus genuinely building a plural marriage family unit where everyone is treated equally and gets equal benefits practically and emotionally...

The problem that I have with Christine is that when Cody favored her over the other wives, she didn’t see that as a problem. She was happy to receive the lion’s share of the attention and agreement that Cody gave her. Once Robin replaced her in a sense, she became resentful. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander I think. If the women had always maintained a standard where he had to spend the time evenly on a specific schedule and disseminate resources evenly or else feel the wrath of ALL the wives, he wouldn’t have been able to get away with what he was doing with Robin in terms of time and resources for as long as he did.

Robyn always pretended that she had her sister wives best interests at heart regarding their relationships with Kody, even saying it to the cameras, but I remember her complaining and saying she didn’t trust some of them with her relationship with Kody. I find that people like Robyn always accuse others of the very thing they are actually doing. She’s suspicious because she knows she only cares about her position in Kody’s affections and about getting what she wants and needs. The whole stalling thing where Kody was at Robyn’s house when he should never have left Christine’s side at the hospital (have somebody else go run the errand) and Robyn was trying to keep him there was disgusting and selfish. And when Christine, who had just had a baby, asked Robyn if she honestly felt like she needed an almost two week honeymoon, Christine was trusting that Robyn would be honest and that she could see what a difficult time it would be for her left at home with a new baby and all the kids with Janelle and Meri working. So when Robyn said yes she felt she needed it, I could see in that moment that Christine was willing to trust Robyn and make the sacrifice and so she unselfishly went along with it. Big mistake! Knowing what we know now, it just makes me mad that Robyn manipulated everybody in that situation and that she was so selfish, only thinking about her own pleasure and she has continued to be selfish. Having had 6 kids myself I know how difficult it can be to get adjusted at home with a newborn especially with a lot of kids and I had a couple of babies with colic. I loved bringing all my babies home and I adore them all but taking care of everybody and recovering from birth is a lot and I had a lot of issues with my hormones, as do a lot of women when their bodies are readjusting after giving birth. Add in breastfeeding and it’s a lot. The more I think about what Robyn did all those years ago, the angrier I get. I think everything Robyn did before the wedding was a red flag. I remember reading their Becoming Sister Wives book and Janelle and Christine had the Robyn courtship dumped on them after it had already started, which was wrong. And when they said no, we’re not doing this, Kody moped around and cried of a broken heart because he was already in love. Imagine being the wife in a plural family that says no way to your spouse when he is “love sick,” to quote Christine. She felt like she had been bamboozled and had to say yes or Kody might be upset with her and she could lose the relationship. What Kody, Meri, and Robyn did was underhanded because it was supposed to be a decision for all of them to make about courting another spouse. The whole Robyn thing started out in a way it should not have and it was always going to be the dark cloud hanging over everything with all the wives and kids.

Christine was the favourite. With the catfish issue Christine couldn't understand what Meri was going through. Christine was nasty to Meri. She didn't understand the jealousy and the sacrifice that the first wife had to go through. When it happened to her she left. I hate Kody and I think he is a neglectful parent but Robyn needed his time as well. Christine had all the attention for so many years so it's natural that Robyn gets more time. Kody found his soulmate in Robyn. He wants monogamy and Robyn wants Kody to show how much he loves Robyn by saying he wasn't attracted to Christine.
I think Meri’s difficulty with fertility made Kody ignore her more. I also think Kody intentionally alienated wives when they didn’t do what he wanted without question.
I also think he liked sowing seeds of discontent amongst the wives because it made them closer to him rather than each other. I distinctly remember an episode where Christine was talking about being close to the other wives. Kody furrowed his eyebrows and says, “wait, do you feel at any point feel closer to the other wives than you do me?” It’s all him.
Oh then after Kody acquired Robyn, he didn’t pay attention to any of the wives…at that point there was no hope for Meri. That’s when her catfish incident happened. Kody was done with her after that.

The problem that I have with Christine is that when Cody favored her over the other wives, she didn’t see that as a problem. She was happy to receive the lion’s share of the attention and agreement that Cody gave her. Once Robin replaced her in a sense, she became resentful. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander I think. If the women had always maintained a standard where he had to spend the time evenly on a specific schedule and disseminate resources evenly or else feel the wrath of ALL the wives, he wouldn’t have been able to get away with what he was doing with Robin in terms of time and resources for as long as he did.
