    I find the easiest method is to take my sofa with me wherever I go.

    Can you transfer from the floor directly back into your wheelchair?

    • @markveloso7748
      @markveloso7748 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Instead of onto the couch before the wheelchair?

    That is a work out. I was thinking of getting on the ground and using my body weight to lift. I think I can do like 3 to 4 times. Pushing 5 would be pushing it too much.

    I got a 'step aerobics' platform from Argos, mainly for exercise but it's also really handy to get from floor to sofa because it's light yet sturdy so you can early move it around. 😊

    The way to get better lift on your floor-to-chair is to rock further forward on your heels. So once sat in the 'hugging your legs' phase, rock your weight onto your heels first - so that you're in a squat position - and then lift. It will feel like you're gong to fall forward first few times but is how you get the height on your bum to clear the chair cushion. Good luck

      Cheers David I'll be sure to try this next time 😊😊

    • @davidevans7204
      @davidevans7204 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I say squat position, I mean all of your weight through your heels. At that point your bum should be off the ground and you should be able to rest in that position without any effort. A high lift should be possible from there. I'm T2C fyi

    That is a Workout, in itself. LOL I think your Arms have to be extremely strong, to be able to do this.

    you make it look easy. nice technique. i gave up on even trying to do a floor transfer years ago, but i will try it again thanks to you.

    • @AdaptToPerform

      No worries. I have only ever done maybe 3 transfers straight from floor to chair when I absolutely had to. I'd rather shuffle around to get something or someone to help. No need to add unnecessary stress

    Before the RA I was always able to do a sort of pull up with two chairs and then sit in one and transfer. Now I can't do that and I fell out of my chair at work the other day. One of my bosses had to lift me and it was super embarrassing. Thankfully where I work has a lot of super strong people.
