  • In this episode, Kevin Ogar shows us how he gets into his chair and Gustavo learns the technique and gets it done for the first time.
If we care to pay attention, we quickly realize how powerful these techniques are for the adaptive and able body athletes. Regardless of ability our foundation for movement is the same.
Understanding this conversation will help you see beyond your craft. This is probably one of the most insightful conversations I had with the wheelchair gang.

Seriously impressive! I no only longer have the upper body strength that I did 20years ago. Great tutorial and thanks to everyone involved.

What a great video! I always talk about body mechanics in my videos about transfers but this is next level!

Awesome video 👍🏻great, that u explained the physical aspects behind the transfer... Normally when you start learning to get back into your chair, you have to find your own way, with your own left ability, and if you're doing something wrong, like looking upwards, nobody tells you that it makes it even harder to get up... I found it out myself, after many tries, but I never new why it's so important to create like a steady line with your back up to your head. Thanks

Great video. Please post more videos for wheelchair users. The discussion around mechanics along with some examples of people trying the move is of high value.

My power chair has an additional 4" with the riser kit. The cap guy has huge upper body and tiny legs. I have a small upper from dual shoulder injury and larger legs. Some good lues.

where does he get a wheelchair like this? I'm 18 and struggling with every wheelchair I get (every 3 years) but they're really low quality "sport - active" wheelchair that literally break (wheels, place where I sit etc..) any ideas?

Okay, the next time I fall out of my chair or sit on the floor I'm going to try this technique.

At 2:09 when he was about to fall I jolted forward like I was going to help. Never felt that way before watching a video.

we tend to be like that but its actually part of process. it feels like you will fall but its like you have to think a move before making it because you have no time to think because what you rely on is your hand we swing to move so we calculate

I wish I was as strong as this lol.
It’s easier for me to remove my cushion then sit on my plate then lift myself up using my wheelchair and something close by!

Strength isn't necessary for this technique. I've seen c7 complete quads do this. The important part is swiveling your weight onto your leg. let leverage do most of the work.
But if there's something nearby lift off of I'm pushing off it, hell with being a hero.
